Some games can have decent factions with good arguments for each side which players will argue over for ages. People still discuss which faction was better in New Vegas so i'd say that has some good factions.

I think you could argue a lot of the older WW2 games had an underlying theme of war being hell and the Germans just being innocent soldiers. This was lost somewhere along the way when it turned into dead-nazi porn. The prime example I can think of is Brothers in Arms where the first two games are simply stories about soldiers fighting each other while the third game goes out of its way to have the nazis quite literally murder women, children and priests and even vilifies a German sniper for doing his fucking job.

Hitman: Silent Assassin starts off with Italian voice actors since they were in Italy (IIRC), or Hitman: Contracts has that Romanian level with NPCs talking and cursing in Romanian, all with English subtitles. I can understand your targets talking in English, or maybe for overhearing mission-relevant opportunities, but when civilians that have nothing to do with the mission start talking and you hear them do it in perfect English, it just starts to stand out.
My bad, didn't know since I didn't start off with the full game and all I did was skim through a Youtube video where they seemed different enough. Still a major pain to know I shouldn't even bother getting all the challenges because I can't play the 'bonus' missions so my completion number will never be, you know, complete.
Escalation missions are fun at first, but more often than not you end up doing the same thing over and over since those 'added rules' are just minute-detours and it's rare that it forces you to change the tactic you've used so far. I might be wrong here though because I only fully completed 3 so far, but as it stands I'm not very impressed. At least it counts as content.

The new Hitman confuses me. I want to like it, but I can't.
There are few problems with it.
First is a minor one, 47 dies in three shots so you can't go in guns blazing. It is pretty much impossible, so you can't do mass murderer playthroughs.
Second is a big one. Diana narrates fucking everything you do in real time, giving you advice and congratulating you after you kill the target. Some kill options require you to listen to random people talking, and then do whatever you are told. Since you are flat out given the optimal choice near the beginning of the level you probably won't bother with figuring out ways for yourself.
Third one is the worst. The AI is fucking braindead, they don't understand what the hell is happening. For example, in Bangkok mission you have to kill a singer and his lawyer. The easiest way to kill the lawyer is to literally start running when you are spawned, run up behind him and break his neck. Then you just run to a nearby shack where the waiters are, choke one of them, get his clothes and voila, you are free to go on pretty much every level of the mansion.
Pretty sure the concept of time is lost to those on a higher plane. Would you care if you killed a million cells by ejacualting?

I think Nationalism works very well actually. Every superpower in history has been shown to be nationalism in some form. America, Rome, and the Soviet Union were arguably civic-nationalist in contrast with Nazi Germany's ethno-nationalism
I think nationalism, and the concept of a nation, is overall important if not required for a countries success. Because wither you are communist or capitalist, what matters is having your population care enough about protecting the values of its people and country to contribute.
