Even if OP is being retrospective that mindset is kill. You didn't fight the Germans for freedom but France being France they despise any kind of occupation by a foreign power even if it was in their best interest. The French Revolution was the big bang that exploded the shitfest ideology the 19th and 20th century had to suffer through (liberalism, communism, and nationalism) and all three are basically dead (See: Yockey for better understanding). The future is a united Europe that the NSDAP was trying to build while retaining the uniqueness of each culture, something Napoleon began (Spengler/Yockey) a hundred years earlier.
The problem is the French people are so stubborn and elitist in their mindset towards the rest of Europe feigning some non-existent "superiority". Even Americans are willing to admit in the final stages of our empire that we're a shit stain on the world stage and did more harm than good given our shitty perceived "values" that's entirely culture-less and based on hyper individualism and money. Don't even need to mention who declared war on who.
Out of respect for the brave Frenchmen that fought in the Waffen-SS I'll reinforce my comments as generalizations.
