When the first Exodus happened, #GG anons came to Holla Forums and had a big debate as to whether we should keep #GG as a Holla Forums project, or make use of Holla Forums's functionality to have a separate #GG board. In the end it was decided to do both. A hidden thread for planning and digging on Holla Forums, tucked away safely off page 1 in the board catalog. And a public board that would attract newfags, keep trolls and shills busy, and serve as a proving ground for whatever the Holla Forums thread cooked up before getting released onto social media. Because a lot of idiots and shills tended to congregate there, the board were often referred to as /honeypot/. It attracted the flies so Holla Forums could work in relative peace. Niko was originally from Holla Forums and created the first board. Drybones (also Holla Forums at the time) created the second board and gave it to Bladee.

That doesn't mean the boards never did anything, mind you. And the honeypot aspect also changed with GGHQ. The entire reason why I sat down with anons in the first days and decided on the board's original (and somewhat stringent) posting rules was to get rid of the bulk of the shills and trolls, eliminating the honeypot aspect entirely and leaving the board as a place for #GG anons.

We were nobody's honeypot.

Unfortunately, the same methods we had for dealing with shills also exposed, in a roundabout and rather painful way, the #GG IRC faction's backstabbing of the rest of #GamerGate. What Holla Forums had created, they had repeatedly co-opted for their own purposes. When they weren't able to repeat that success on GGHQ due to our anti-shilling policies, they opted to destroy the board instead. Spam, raids, divide and conquer shilling of every stripe both on the board and everywhere else they could think of to post, and even trying to destroy me personally when I refused to play their game by their rules. Hell, they even tried to attack Mark, Holla Forums's board owner, later on based on a theory they had that he was somehow involved with me.

Their scorched-earth campaign eventually got to such a level that we had to outright purge them off the board to put an end to it or we were going to be dead in a matter of weeks. They flipped that around, claiming the damage had instead all been caused by the mod staff and used the fracture they had created and nursed to cause a board split, birthing revolt. Their real purpose, behind all the nice imageboard sounding "free speech no modcuckkikefagz" was to have a board where they could keep using the same strategy they used with /gg/ and /gamergate/ - samefagging as a team to gin up a personal army from the pool of board users. You can't get away with that if you have honest moderation, the shit sticks out like a sore thumb through a mod's eyes. They had to have a place they controlled, so they made their own Reichstag Fire and had themselves a nice putsch to get there, and took some wayward anons along for the ride.

Now it says "Report inappropriate content accurately" instead of "negative content".

This could actually be helpful. They realize that what might be considered "negative" is way too subjective. Now that they're explicitly labelling it as "inappropriate" they've really opened themselves and even possibly social norms up to heavy fire.

Sexual content isn't appropriate? Who decides that when porn is a massive global industry? It's human nature and a prime reason that makes all this prudish snobbish bitching about drawings and pixels that don't mind being groped or ogled at so pathetic.
Violence isn't appropriate? Who decides when it's both also part of human nature and is simply fun to watch depending on its execution?
Profanity isn't appropriate? Who decides when it's universally recognized as strong, more passionate language used to express anger, shock or intense happiness? Grow up. It's only words and not even derogatory slurs. They only have power if you give it to them as my brother said.

Yes, I think this might be an opportunity to really push back at all suppression of actual human nature that's blatantly being attempted with the new TOS, with advertisers robotically and stupidly would consider detrimental to their interests. This REALLY shows how out of touch pretty much anything corporate really is and that's an issue that I think can actually finally be addressed for the game industry of all things with something like League for Gamers.
