Hi Holla Forums,
I wanted to ask you something. Is it a condolence to you that people are always going to call gay marriage "gay marriage" as an implication it's not real marriage, but a gay knockoff, a gay copy of the real thing?
Or do you prefer it not being called gay marriage at all?
Also why do you think that they pushed for it to be called marriage and not something like a registered partnership?
I know that historically marriage isn't something religious curiously enough. It's actually a universal secular social concept. It was done in virtually every human culture, whether pagan, christian or what not.
And geopolitical it was the best way to create peace between neighbours. Even Romans and Greeks at their most degenerate didn't make alliances between 2 houses by sending a gay guy over to the other as a present. It was always a fertile woman in the hopes that she would produce a child. In fact that is was the explicit purpose of it. If she was barren, that was grounds for a divorce.
So anyway, that is what I as a person interested in history, thinks about this.
