90% is certainly very high, but it would be a massively high number. The reasons are long term failure of nearly all large cities and the shit storm that proceeds after the failure of every form of law and order etc. Likewise you will not have the military going in there to create law and order or supply food, water, etc. Most all the influential or important members of the societal elite will be shipped off to their underground and mountain bunkers where they will have all their needs met. Important military unites called back for defensive measures to protect them etc while the rest are told to "help the people of the nation" aka you're on your own.

Now what happens when all these elites want to come back and take power? Not an electrical engineer, can someone help me out on this? How standard is EMP hardening in modern infrastrucure? I'm pretty sure it's required for military, but what about public services?

Well, after a year things would begin to stabilize. The nonwhites will have either died or fled, and the whites will have either found themselves a group or got eaten by niggers. The whole "Road warrior" post apocalyptic scenario is dumb as hell and many levels. People are natrual tribal and would band together. Raiding would happen, but in the immediate aftermath organized raids would be far too costly. That means after a year you have hundreds of small but self sufficient white communities that are well armed and red pilled all to hell. The goverment attempting to come back would probably cause the most white deaths, no telling who would win. Hell, looking purely at growth, the birthrate would probably skyrocket without birth control, and with little else to do. At the ten year mark, if the goverment fails to take back power, America would probably be back on its feet and ready to find the jews that caused the problem to begin with. At the very least, after 10 years, communities would begin networking with each other again and forming trade routes.

Not that this could happen any time soon, but this would ultimately be a good time. A few months of utter unadulterated carnage, followed by scared survivors huddled around the fire would lead to safer and calmer America that can't or wont drone strike any rebels in Europe.

You'll electricity to try and properly coordinate the very limited fire departments in cities. Without your walk-talkies having the power they need, shit becomes hard to organize & get everything needed together. Add into that, if the power goes out then gas shipments will be delayed or discontinued entirely in a lot of regions & because of this fire trucks won't have the power they need to even get around.

Never forget that when the power goes out, plenty of people will abandon these facilities. Cities may not be made out of wood, but they are full of plenty of things that can light on fire. Full EMP shielding is rare, but it isn't a magical energy device that permanently disables electronics. In fact I would say any EMP capable of trying your personal computer to be inoperable would probably be so close that you would die from the blast.

An EMP is great at getting enough charge in the air to cause arcing in devices, particularly ones that are running, but it won't do much more than trip a few breakers or cause some transformers to blow. Yes, damaging. But at a scale that would take weeks and maybe months to repair, not permanently.

So, a good way to kill off sick people or the elderly depending on the time of year, but probably wouldn't do more than inconvenience people in cities.

You guys are missing the biggest danger: the collapse of the already overburdened health system. Fires are the least of your problems when things like infectious diseases, waterborne diseases, and lack of prolonged high complexity care. Diabetics and others with chronic diseases will be the first to die as the pharmacies are looted. Entire hospitals will shut down as critical staff can no longer come to work due to personal safety concerns or lack of fuel. Inpatients inside the hospitals will likely be prematurely discharged in the best cases, or just abandoned in the worst, similar to those nursing home patients.

The healthcare system is the most fragile infrastructure piece we have, even more so than fire and law enforcement.

It's typically known that you have about thirty minutes warning from an ICBM strike. That of course is for a missile that intends to strike back down at the Earth, EMP strikes need only be in the upper atmosphere(basically space) before they explode. You wouldn't even need a necessarily large & relatively efficient nuclear bomb like a hydrogen bomb, you could just cluster Hiroshima level yields together on a bunch of power rockets, even have some decoy rockets as well.

If I had to guess though, it's because the North Koreans wouldn't want to even try. North Korea lives in a delicate balance between Russia, China & the US. Each of those three nations have orbital recon satellite that most definitely would be paying attention to other nuclear states, and the facilities needed to get a blitzkrieg style launch of all of those rockets would be nearly impossible without getting their attention.

As an aside, the kind of facilities needed to launch multiple rockets would require tons of fuel storage, giant launch pads, tons of work done to load up their nuclear arsenal into these rockets & most importantly of all, testing done on rockets that would be capable of entering into low-earth orbit.

In the case of medication, especially things like antibiotics that aren't basic first line stuff, insulin, antivirals, and other critical but complex medication, its not even a factor of shipment in some cases, but rather production. Entire lines of pharma factories would go dark and medication would stop being produced. You can have a decade's supply of food but die to a small cut if its not treated properly.

Honey & purified salt(salt that has been concentrated from fresh boiled water.) work very well for keeping a wound clean.

Purifying water by boiling is nice, but make sure you have filtered water through any kind of straining element(I.E. use cloth or anything with small holes to keep particulate matter our). You can help preserve your water & clean it further by using silver or copper with in the storage vessel you use to keep your water. Preferably silver, as silver has a harder time rusting.

You can purify water with bleach. I can't remember the exact amount per gallon of water, but I'm pretty sure it was one drop of bleach per gallon. After you apply the bleach, leaving the container open to the air to let the chlorine in the bleach evaporate.

You can make gunpowder quite easily, see the youtube video.(Part 1 makes really shitty gunpowder, not even worth watching for the most part.) The basics of it is that you can get potassium nitrate from water full of nitrates(composting with lots of protein or broken down proteins gets this accomplished for the most part.) being mixed with hard wood ash(for the Potassium itself) then mix it with charcoal & sugar to make black powder(one of the many forms, you could use sulfur too instead of sugar.)

& Finally, learn how to make goods. Learning how to make booze, blacksmith, fish, hunt or even farming will be absolutely invaluable if everything goes to shit.

Inventory management systems, trucks, tractors, etc. There are only approximately 1000 large farms that provide the vast majority of the resources to the food manufacturing supply chain. There are very few people that know how to farm on a large scale without the support of 100 years of farming technology and infrastructure. Even fewer that understand how to do it for 330 million people.

This also doesn't take into account the vast quantities of grain, corn, and sugar we export to the turd world.

Regarding a nuke —- go read up on EMP/HEMP tech. A fission device is a more efficient EMP generator for sure, however, the tests conducted at the levels of 'normal' emp devices (just a regular nuke at high altitude) don't generate an EM field strong enough to kill most vehicles. If I recall correctly, most modern cars, when running, would not shut off. Those that would shut off would still restart and while the dash lights and warning codes were going apeshit, the vehicle could still be shifted into gear and provide locomotion. Cars that were not turned on still had a relatively few that were disabled. The power grid, however, most likely would still be fucked. But if you have vehicles, likely that would be a huge boon to recovery efforts as supplies could still be moved. There still would be mass chaos, but you could still move people and equipment around (as long as there was fuel).

The thing people don't realize is that there are THEORETICAL devices called "super" EMP weapons that have been mathematically show to be possible to create that would generate EM fields with orders of magnitude higher amounts than a 'regular' EMP set off by a conventional nuke. While you're a little right, you're also a bit off track. The height of the nuke determines the radius of coverage re: horizon line. 50 miles vs 250 miles. However buildings, while FRAMED with metal, are extremely porous to EM fields. It also would depend on the geometry of the buildings relative to the EM source. A building directly beneath the EM blast would likely have the electons passing perpendicular to the ground —- as such the people in the lower levels would be more protected by the relative mass of the floors above them soaking up the electrons. The flip side is that directly below the blast is also where the intensity/concentration of the electrons will be the most.

If we take this situation to a building on the far extremes of the horizon relative to the EM source, we also find that while the intensity/concentration of EM waves are considerably less, buildings are very porous to EM fields and give that the EM particles would be essentially traveling parallel to the ground, they would be hit all the same without the building providing any cover.

It would also take considerably less nukes than 300 to wipe out our grid system. The concept of cascading failures is a concept not at all unfamiliar to cyber attackers and other groups. As electrical grids fail, relays and switches will automatically reroute power around 'dead' areas to try and still provide power to as much as they can. This is fine for a lightning storm or such, when a few lines are down………..but when you have MASSIVE amounts of failures, all that rerouting eventually will overload all the circuitry and infastructure and it will all catastrophically fail. I've worked as an electrical engineer in the RF industry. It blows out the nearest ~$1,000 pole pig (transformer.) It doesn't do jack shit of consequence because unless there's some severe weather issues it gets replaced within a few hours. On average the utilities replace about 10% of the equipment on their grid every week (transformers mostly) and have a stockpile for a complete replacement handy. An EMP, if it were some magical EMP full of unicorn farts and pixie dicks, would knock out the grid for MAYBE a month - and no such thing exists. Damage caused by a cyberattack is usually physical destruction. Machines are dumb and machines which move (or change settings) just do what the computer tells them to do. Very rarely are machines outside of people's houses (think the latch on a microwave oven which prevents it from turning on when the door is open) designed to stop it from doing stupid things, because it is both expensive to design those things in and it is generally assumed that some faggot wasn't going to try to connect everything electronic to the internet so the computer would always tell it the right thing to do anyway.

I've driven on I10 down in Houston/Louisiana area where the refineries are and thought about how easy it would be to set up a mortar crew in a flatbed truck (open top, but sides of the bed concealing the team) and just drive by lobbing mortars out of the truck bed at the refineries and storage tanks. Literally no one on the highway would know what you're doing at all. All they'd see is explosions going off in the plant.

Can confirm this. We had a reasonably small storm/flood cut off our warehouse. We couldn't get stock in for days. It really doesn't take much to throw out the supply chain.

You also have to consider labor and capital constraints. We couldn't find enough staff to actually work extra hours. There are simply not enough people who want to work manual labor to fill the shelves. I imagine this was the case at the warehouse as well.

Also, overtime is usually extremely costly for the company, so they're going to try to work out ways to do things on the cheap, e.g. bringing in labor hire or finding casuals to work more hours and the like. Often this takes time to set-up, and probably costs more money than its saves (new staff learning shit, lost sales due to delays).

Basically, once delays set in they're amplified by mismanagement and business constraints. My experience was during a small event. I imagine an EMP would have disastrous consequences, especially considering the uselessness and domestication of many people, combined with the violent opportunistic tendencies of certain elements of society.

If you're not already on land, I really would consider getting at least a couple of acres and growing your own food, combined with prepping and setting up systems that will allow you to sustain yourself off the grid.

Also, your comparing nuclear EMP to solar flares is not valid. A nuke (unless it's thermonuclear) has a single wave of gamma radiation hitting the ionosphere. Solar flares are very noisy and chaotic and they ionize the atmosphere forming a barrier that inhibits the flow of electrons.

Nigger have you ever worked in a power plant? One steam turbine tripping will cause a surge in draw on the nearby plants. This extra draw on the generating unit, regardless if its a condensing turbine or non condensing turbine creates a huge rise in steam flow. If the boiler operators are not ready for it, the drum swell will cause the boilers to trip on high drum level, or if over compensated low drum level, bringing the whole system crashing down, cascading to other generators. This shit happens all the fucking time and is par the course. Most of the time you can run out and manualy blow a boiler down in time if needed but it can be a thing where you have a minute to do it at the most. Now these systems are controlled by plc systems, but their not perfect and most of the time a plant should fail in a safe manner. But that dosent always happen. Ive seen this happen quite a few times where a boiler randomly tripping causes nearby plants to trip because of the sudden draw, causing a local blackout. 2007 in edmonton was the first time i experianced it first hand.

This. This is basically what I've been telling people this whole thread who think you need to blanket the entire USA with like 600 nukes to generate enough EMPs to get the grid to go down. A fantasy born from the mind of people who just don't know any better, or think because they know about ONE piece of the puzzle they know how all the other pieces interact with each other and make "the Grid" function the way it does. This is akin to a machinist knowing how to make a gear…….and therefore thinking they know how a diesel engine works. In my opinion, this is the most dangerous sort of person. Someone who knows JUST enough to fuck up. This phenomenon is well known to the pilot community. Those with roughly 500-1000 hours of flight time being overconfident in their abilities —- yet are still extremely inexperienced (subject to debate I'm sure).

What is describing is called the CASCADE EFFECT. The US electrical grid is designed to automatically reroute itself, via SCADA systems, around damaged areas ("nodes", if you will) in order to maintain electrical flow to as much of an area as possible. Any one area of the grid is designed to take approximately 140% over it's usual maximum load. This is colloquially known as a "self healing smart grid". The problem comes when there is too much area damaged and the 'undamaged' portion of the grid infrastructure simply cannot physically handle that amount of electricity and gets destroyed. Either it becomes destroyed by the EM pulse itself, or the grid itself tries to reroute and just basically implodes due to inability to contain the energy. The net result is the same.

The above cascade effect is how a cyber attack would usually operate. Via Stuxnet-style of attack, they can manipulate the SCADA systems to physically destroy the grid itself one by one, until it's all gone.

The EMP would kick off that cascade effect, but it likely would not need it to begin with. In the above scenario, the SCADA systems are the ones that precipitate the electricity to melt down the infrastructure. In a EMP/CME event, the electricity would literally be flowing into the powerlines from the sky itself. Everywhere all at once. The same principles that cause a Faraday cage to be able to protect your equipment (if you're smart enough to build one for your sensitive equip), are the same reasons why everything and anything connected to the power grid is fucked. The power lines themselves will be the conduits for all that EM energy to be funneled straight into any devices plugged into that thing.

If you're going to make a Faraday cage just remember that if it's something small (A cabinet, a styrofoam cooler covered in copper/alum foil) it shouldn't be grounded — grounding simply makes it attract more free EM particles looking for the easiest path to go to ground (literally the ground). However if it's a large structure (a barn, shed, etc) it needs a ground because the large surface area will collect a lot of electrical energy and it will need to transfer it somewhere — the best place being the ground. Large surface area structures need not worry about "attracting too much EM particles" because they're going to be attracting them anyway so you need them to be able to flow out of the structure instead of simply trapping them. Because they will eventually discharge their energy somewhere. And you don't want to take the chance that something inside that it's supposed to be protecting somehow becomes the path of least resistance.

Regardless, this is just generic stuff on EMP in general, and doesn't really have anything to do with the particulars of the fear-mongering "OMG this is what the NorKs COULD POSSIBLY DO!!!!" that the media has been pimping lately.
