I was wrong user, i'm a fucking idiot, I didn't read the entire thread, this is a cool concept and it could fuck youtube hard especially some youtube channel/creators

the problem with all of this is that, like adnauseam, it won't get popular and nobody will use it, if you google adnauseam right now even on youtube, you will find little to no information regarding it, we have to shill the fuck out of these things if we want the mass to use it, now that would cause a serious damage to the youtube brand.

Currently I've seen more HookTube links on Holla Forums than normal YouTube links, they've made decent progress shilling it.

But it quite doesn't matter, because we need a service to upload videos and Hooktube still relies on Youtube video selection, which means that if Youtube deletes a video, Hooktube can't do anything about it and is therefore meaningless.
Specially for people who already uses youtube-dl.

That's not exactly what HT was made for, the creator says it was created in part because a lot of political videos are blocked in Europe and HT allows you to watch them.

It might be useful for Europeans then, but it's not a forward-looking solution to the Youtube problem. Youtube may very well begin deleting videos altogether for all locales that violate European laws. They've already been deleting videos that break no American laws, and I only expect this policy to expand as time goes on.

Bitchute isn't a solution either. Bitchute advocates claim bitchute is censor-resistent because it works like bittorrent does, but that ignores the fact that Bitchute can and does censor their website search index. They can't force a node to stop serving a video to other nodes, but they can ensure their website doesn't help you find those nodes. Notice how there isn't any pornography on bitchute. I'm not advocating that pornography should be on bitchute, but the absense of pornography on bitchute proves their censorship capabilities. The problem then is obvious. How can you provide a censorship-proof system that doesn't get flooded by pornography (particularly the illegal kinds)? If you can't keep the filth off your website, then it will be unusable to most normal people. But if you can keep the filth off, the same mechanisms used to censor the filth could be used to censor us.

Semi-distributed hosting solutions like bitchute (powered by webtorrent: webtorrent.io/) make it feasible for people to create their own video websites without massive infrastructure investments. Perhaps integrating webtorrent technology into our own websites so that we control them is the solution. But of course there are those that question the operators of this website and board. And there is the problem of webtorrent necessarily exposing the IP addresses of nodes hosting content. Privacy is a problem with webtorrent or any other WebRTC based solutions.

I like the concept, I might start to use this more now.

This has some promise, but seems to need a lot of work. I've been playing around with it for the past few days and have gotten it to crash several times. Furthermore there seem to be several UI oversights with it, I might have to contribute some patches, I'm hoping they're well received by the developers because I don't have much patience for "FOSS politics".

There is no "they." I made the prototype for the site in a thread on halfchan when someone requested a way to link videos without giving them views. I used verb and noun lists to show me all available *tube.com domains after I failed to find any good names with your logic, which was my first impulse.

That's the thing about those videos. They're purposefully made to capitalize on youtube algorithms which put them into playlists for toddlers. Toddlers don't know what they're watching and parents don't care. The finger family videos are the same, which is why there are ones featuring Hitler.

How about a website dedicated too webm uploads? There are tons and tons of webms here on the chans, that you often times can't link without it being connected to 4chan/Holla Forums.

If I had to venture a guess, I'd say the recent church shooting triggered another "crackdown" on any video that teaches kids how to do anything marginally more masculine and dangerous than opening boxes from Amazon and playing video games. I'd wager his home chemistry videos, like the nitroglycerin videos, are probably the root cause of why he's being targeted.

I actually did, I deleted my Gmail acount (and thus also my youtube acount since those are linked), also deleted Chrome.
I do still use their search engine because the alternatives are sadly not as good.

It's good to have at least some youtube proxy accounts for these situations.

Why not use startpage instead then? It's pretty much google with a proxy. Or something like SearX which is a metasearch engine that covers google, bring, and most other prevalent search engines all at once.
