The ny times did not suddenly decide that rape is a big deal to them after decades of not reporting it, what happened is that Harvey's brother Bob Weinstein is performing a business coup and forcing Harvey out of the company and he greenlighted the nytimes story in order to do it. He is probably the source of the accounts that came out in the story too, you will notice that there is not some new rape story that caused all of this to happen, it is all old stuff. The only thing that changed is now Bob wants Harvey out of the picture because he has become unprofitable.
