Real life glass isn't like movie glass. Expanding on this: the audio reveals that one possibly two people where shooting at a time. I haven't heard any audio clips that sound like 3 people shooting at the same time, let alone more. So assuming there were two shooters, that's 11.5 guns per shooter. That's still more than Whitman; still an impractical unnecessary number of guns.

For how many shooters would 23 be a practical number? If we assume there were 11 shooters that's 2 guns per shooter with one left over, perhaps they each had two guns so one could cool while the other was in use. But the audio certainly never comes anywhere close to 11 shooters. If it were 11 shooters all taking turns, only shooting one or two at a time, then two guns per shooter would have still been unnecessary.

No matter which way you slice it, I think 23 guns was far in excess of what was actually needed. Either it was too many guns for the number of shooters, or there were too many shooters for the audio recordings. (not to mention having 10+ shooters is a lot of loose ends to tie up….)
