What is with this recent trend of DEFENDING the fucking providers instead of criticizing them?

What is with this recent trend of DEFENDING the fucking providers instead of criticizing them?

It seems like it's mostly associated with SJW types the like, with the "you're a manchild if you don't consume this shitty movie with feminist propaganda" or "if you complain about this you're racist", "releasing buggy games is totally game, development is difficult" and that sort of shit.

Logic Common Fucking Sense dictates that, as consumers, we should look after our own interests. Most videogames people are exposed to come from big corporations which, as an unity, is much stronger than a single consumer.

Corps have the power to make gigantic campaigns to spread propaganda to further their own agenda and control the market. A single consumer has very little power unless he has a large following. Siding with the strong instead of siding with your own is obviously a retarded move not only because corps will obviously always try to screw you over, but because it's mostly not even necessary given the power and money they have. You're basically WORKING AGAINST YOUR OWN PEOPLE and mostly notably YOURSELF for FUCKING FREE.

I am inclined to think this is the whole point and goal of Cultural Marxism, making people work against each other to dissolve their power as a community in order to give the power to corporations instead.

are* much stronger
Sorry

When something is marketed enough, us vs them mentality sets in.

should've know this was coming when you saw autistic nintendo fanbois defend their company

Just to clarify OP, are you saying you are seeing this in the overall population of people that play games, or specifically on Holla Forums itself?

Overall population of people that play games

I feel like criticizing corporations and their products has always been the norm before. It makes a lot more sense. I'd take unfair criticism over unfair praise any fucking day, EVEN for games and corporations I usually like (given they're big enough and are not just small dev teams), because as soon as a corp gets big, it needs to start doing really fucking nasty shit in order to stay alive. It's not even an instinct of malice or anything, it's just what corporations need to do to stay alive. No business makes it big without getting a bit dirty.

Again, given that's the own nature of big business, it seems silly to ever give them any help at all given they'll probably screw you over somehow eventually. Small dev teams, those are the ones you should root for.

Because we live in a consumer culture where people identify with the products they buy. When you criticize the thing they identify with it is the same thing as attacking them, at least in their minds. So they lash out. There is no logic to it only an emotional reaction.

Ok I guess these guys are the exception

No exceptions OP. Criticism should be made against small devs too. You can't just go around downplaying the problems of a game with "B-But it was a small team". It's pretty similar to the "development is difficult" thing you said first

The concept has always been here. You see it everywhere, car brands, consoles, graphics cards, the list goes on. It's consumerism at it's finest. People identify with what they buy and absolutely cannot handle the idea that they may have not bought the right thing.

*as a unity

And it never crossed your mind that these campaigns may include astroturfing by """fellow video game consumers"""? There are subcontracted companies that exist solely to fulfill this purpose. It's part of the average AAA project's marketing budget. Shitholes like reddit where people jump on opinion bandwagons for upboats only make their jobs easier.

I have no fucking clue why that game was so hyped and why so people are so angry. The dev's didn't lie any more than other game companies do and all the gameplay videos were indicative of the final product. Nothing I heard about the game sounded revolutionary like spore, it was advertised as Procedural Generation: The Game and that's what we got.

They've become pacified cucks who would never dare speak ill against their masters that abuse them like animals.

Personally see a huge influence of this bullshit by e-celebs, mostly YouTube. How many.Youtubers give an honest to goodness review of a game. Or criticize bullshit practices? 99.9% of Youtube e-celebs tell you to think about the poor devs. Or never question that DLC ending on how kikery it is. Than normalfags watch these e-celebs and think it's okay to sympathize for a corporation.

You're seeing the combined effects of brainwashing and copious amounts of buyer's remorse.

Try going to twitch. Look for the most popular streamer and watch his stream. Pay attention to the layout. Analyze his speech patterns and movements. Then spend a few seconds reading the chat. If you feel physical discomfort and a sense of wrongness, then congratulations.

Will there be multiplayer Sean?
Yes

Have the edit my friendo

Social justice doctrine states that it's illegal to criticize something if the creator agrees with you on an unrelated issue, or if people you dislike also criticize the thing.

Making consumers think that they exist for your sake is probably the best thing any company can do, regardless of whatever it is you're selling them. This is achieved by people being more concerned with being part of a scene than with actually enjoying a product at an affordable price.

Support good practice on a case-by-case basis, not people or size of a business. A mom-and-pop store is just as capable of fucking over consumers compared to Walmart, they just have to be more careful about it. They're also constantly aware they're "the underdog" and will play that marketing angle as much as they can because people buy into it.

There's no reason to have loyalty either when they factor that into their business model; good practice today doesn't guarantee anything tomorrow. Devs are aware they can lose a battle and still win the war - if they make a game that doesn't completely fuck you for all you're worth, you'll tell everyone how great and consumer-friendly they are. This helps their reputation, generates sales for their current release, and generates hype for their next game, which they can now cut corners on because enough people will buy it out of loyalty that it'll make up for the small number of detractors that try to hold them to their actions.

This isn't to say that every individual is a turbo-Jew trying to ream you for all you're worth, but a business is there to look out for itself. Johnny Dev at GameCorp or Mrs. Crabtree at the corner store might be real swell people, but they're trying to make money off you. And that's fine, that's normal commerce, but millennials can't seem to understand that businesses are not your friends, regardless of how "good" they might appear to be.

People just don't like capitalism anymore friend.

Eh they're a small team larping as an AAA team

The other night I was watching some shitty TV before falling asleep, and I happened to catch the end of an episode of @Midnight. For those of you who don't know, it's a cringy "lol us nerds amirite" gameshow hosted by Chris Hardwick. All the questions have to do with things that happened on the internet in the past few days.

The final question of the night was about No Man's Sky. Chris opens the question by explaining that "No Man's Sky has released and, unsuprisingly, grown men on the internet are inexplicably angry about it." He then shows a strawman tweet from some random fucker that says something like "NMS is shit, burn Sean Murray's house down."

Hardwick gives this pseudo-disbelieving laugh while a laugh track plays, then he poses his question to the contestants: "Do think Da Vinci had to put up with this stuff too? Write a Tweet as if it was written by a troll from the past who is making fun of another piece of artwork."

The implications here were that:
1. There is nothing wrong with No Man's Sky
2. Complaining about No Man's Sky makes you a basement-dwelling neckbeard loser who overreacts to things all the time
3. No Man's Sky is so good that it's actually comparable to classical art pieces by famous masters like Da Vinci

OP, the trends you are noticing are definitely real, and they are actively being manufactured and spread by corporate and socjus types (who act as"useful idiots') in a so-far-successful attempt to co-opt our hobbies. The goal is to open up "nerddom" (video games, scifi, fantasy, etc) to the largest audience possible, in order to create a larger market for the sale of their products. The problem is that nobody wants to be a "nerd," so the invaders frame the actual fans as "complainers," "entitled," "crybabies," and so on, in an attempt to sweep us under the rug and make things more inviting to average people who think they're "so nerdy lol" just because they watch Game of Thrones once a week.

I enjoy how that is not the face of a man sad at the funeral. But of a man who knows that people are exploiting a good man. SJW tend to add these moments of wisdom that they think is insanity.

Point out to me any other case where the dev said there would be multiplayer and kept stating so right until release, where it became evident that there was no multiplayer at all.

That's true. However, big companies are a lot more likely to jew you, even if the developers themselves are good.

EXACTLY
That's why defending them is fucking ridiculous.

I wish SJWs would do this more, and I wish Holla Forumsirgins would do it too: celebrate and uplift what you love, ignore what is shit. By focusing on shit you are only doing marketing for it, and edging out quality works.

But this won't stop because it's human nature for so many people to obsess about negativity. Not to say there are not things which should be viewed negatively, but if that's all you're doing all of the time? Same as in day to day life. A single incident in a day is blown the fuck out so everyone in the world hears about it. And people who listen to the news begin to think the world is a truly terrible place. But we don't hear about all of the good with the bad. There is so much beauty in the world despite the ugliness. Same with SJWs, they obsess about negativity, their victim cult, their learned helplessness. They fester and become toxic, unable to see the world in shades other than black and white, themselves white, and everything else black. And Holla Forums does it also - the only "good news" that gets posted on Holla Forums is when it's schadenfreude of the suffering of others, something degrading to opponents, or a pyrrhic victory (although at least Pepe and Donald lighten the mood there sometimes).

Old Holla Forums is notorious for hating games. Daily posts salivating at the mouth, waiting for games to fail in some way so people could say that they told you so. Oh boy another overhyped AAA game is bound to fail, and you're wasting your time focusing on it other than playing good games.

And when people post something celebratory? ```SHILL!```

I'm not saying you should love and uplift shit, but if you think everything is shit then the problem is you. If all you do is whine about AAA games, or indie clique games then you are cancer that is bringing gaming down. Do some work and find good games, and if you hate everything, then fucking make a good game that's worthy.

And what is the alternative? Free gibsmedat gayms?

Post purchase rational.

Common sense is not common.

This is how fucking stupid Holla Forums actually is nowadays.

Everybody whose spirit-animal isn't a nigger knows that the shady agenda trying to rip apart West isn't the "leftism" by the jews, but the fascist nationalist organizations backed up by Russia.

The rest isn't entirely wrong in the opening post, despite you being a cynical asshat.

Get filtered, furfag.

Who do you thinks is funding all the agenda fool?
All those think tanks that come up with these stuff aren't working for free

...

SJWS are agents of the establishment. Theyve been weaponised to keep rational thought out of decision making, keeping the people off tilt, allowing the elite to continue ruling without serious challenge. They are deployed to gum up the works of civil society with trivial histrionic bullshit.

Some (mostly the ringleaders) know this and go along with it because it benefits them too in various ways such as money and attention, the rest, the true beleivers, are peons.

SJWs espouse some completely logically fallacious shit, and a great proportion are legitimately mentally ill. You dont really think they got as far as they did on their on do you?

But the thing is that "cultural marxism" really isn't even properly marxist thing.

It's just a buzzword that allows people to circle-jerk without having to put much thought into it. I think that "radical humanism" or "ultra-egalitarianism" would be much more fitting. It would allow talking about this phenomenon without having to deal with a complex philosophy that is not applicable or exactly relevant to modern days, and just clusterfucks the situation even more.

This guy gets it.

constantly buying cheap junk stops you from getting rich. If someone managed to gain enough power, it would threaten the elite because they're independent of them.

...

Already achieved in terms of market potential. Now all they're doing is turning them into propaganda pulpits.

Actually, the problem is that normalfags want to call themselves nerds because it's the currently in thing, and in the process kick out all icky misogynerds and their "embarrassing" appreciation for the female body and love of complexity down further.

It's not enough to have been marginalizing and ridiculing them for decades, now they have to come to the little niche they made for themselves and fuck up that too.

Normalfags are filth, leftists are vermin, they all deserve what is coming to them.

This. Holla Forums is always talking about how companies will eventually realize that SJWs and leftists were never their market in the first place, and are just alienating their core audience. But I'm not sure if we should be so optimistic.

The problem is that all these companies have been deeply infiltrated with this filth. We might have reached a point where they don't even care if their product is profitable or not. I'd say it's even acceptable if it results in revenue loss. The propaganda is all that matters.

Most people are wary as fuck about leaking support for their company for fear that someone else should push you out and fill the gap.

The wisdom of old warned against the creeping "banality of evil". Truly, they were referring to normalfags.

Underrated post.

If all gamers do is complain about bad games, we become defined by them and it encourages people to engage in that kind of discussion. We don't engage in the games themselves, but the negative spaces of the ones that failed to deliver.

Without indulging multi-million dollar publishers or overpaid marketing teams, we need to move away from simplistic thinking of games as Good or Bad and articulate their differences better.

Fun or interesting games, and discussion surrounding them, gets fucked over by people who only seem to value them through the lens of review score bullshit: 1-to-10, Bad-to-Good. Different games are better/worse than others for different reasons. How can we ever really develop taste, as a community, if games discussion only engages them as a variable between one of two things, Good or Bad?

Mechanics, Art Design, Sound Design, Music, Characters, Setting, Ambition, Technical Prowess…

Articulate yourselves.

You can't sustain that shit without some other source of income. Marvel can only keep churning out shitty comic after shitty coming because of movies and other merchandise.

And you'll notice that they never stray from legacy characters there. Iron Man is always Tony Stark, not some disgusting negress, Spider-Man is Peter Parker, not a subhuman spic/nigger mongrel, Thor is a white, Nordic god, not some cunt with cancer.

I predict that Ubisoft will get burned badly for Watch Dogs 2, and BioWare's ME4 will sell even worse than Inquisition.

Their evil is their apathy. They don't really give a shit about anything. Not their money, not their freedoms, not quality, art, nothing. They are empty.

NMS is the perfect example of this. Anyone with the most limited capacity to think independently would have been suspicious of the fact the developers weren't showing raw gameplay footage, a sane person would have waited for the game to come out before making the plunge.

But nope, normalfags just have to perorder a fucking digital product.

Even if there was an organized zionist conspiracy seeking to destroy the white race, do you think that Russians would be any less likely to be in their pockets than Americlaps?

The thing is that it's so easy to get decent gameplay footage these days that you should be able to tell fairly accurately how the game will feel like. Genuinely good games get plenty of material out because they have confidence in their product. NMS had shit-ton of red flags all over it from day one. Anyone with basic understanding of how vidya works should've recognized the bullshit.

I'm pretty sure they have that (((figured out))).
