Junji Ito Collection, Overlord II, Poptepic, and the Chuuni movie are probably all I'm gonna be watching. Hopefully 2018 is a good year for anime, Nothing in 2017 really sparked my interest so I missed all of it.

Mahoujin Guruguru, Urara Meirochou, Akiba's Trip, Konosuba 2nd season and the first of half Little Witch Academia were all really good but aside from those it was a shit year for anime. The 2010s has been a bad decade for anime really.

I hated what I saw of the first season of konosuba, Probably should watch little witch though that sounded good. 2010s has been hit or miss tbh, I remember there being at least 2 or 3 good shows every season from 2014-2016 though. This year it was like 2 to 3 shows all year.

Less and less every year. I'm betting by 2030 all animation is going to be CGI made by third worlers then the series gets sent of to the country it will air in for the voice acting.

Even if there has been an increase in overseas outsourcing, it's the effect of there being more anime in production than there are people to make it. The prediction that anime is going to go full 3D is based on the US animation movie industry, which is a completely different industry.

How does one trace animation drawings in anime?

It's late and I'm drunk so you'd have to google it or wait for someone better suited to address this. But a lot of anime is traced from the mangas or even just stolen straight from any images from anything they want and straight traced over to cut costs.

An anime adaptation uses its own character designs adapted from the original work which can look sigificantly different, and unless the designs are exactly like the originals there'd be inconsistencies. A manga doesn't have anywhere near enough drawings to make this kind of tracing feasible, and creating usable copies of the manga panels (they'd have to be isolated and enlarged) and distributing them to the animators would also be more work than just letting the animators work freely. Even if they do trace something, there's still a lot that they have to draw on their own that doesn't exist in the manga, so there's no point. Animation can be traced over live action footage, i.e. rotoscoped, but this is very rarely done in anime, and the footage is something the production creates itself.
