Brazos River is supposed to raise up like 58+ft with all the rain here, and to the north feeding the damn thing. From what i'm told, the river beds are 55', so after that point it starts flooding everydamnthing.

NW Houston Update:Rains clearing. waters draining fairly fast and buying time for later. If you got shovels I'd recommend digging in. Trenches to help control water flow will help and the moved dirt you can use for makeshift barricades to block water flowing into your house if need be. Home owners want to bitch slap'em with mud it's fucking hurricane time. Pay attention to elevation when doing this and if your doorways are exposed to the sky pick the one more likely to flood in and shovel dirt to make a seal, press it in. Better than nothing later on. If both are liable pick a window to hustle through if you can and seal'em up. If you got sandbags now is a damn good time to set them up. Get control over the water flow and manage it instead of letting it pool up randomly.

Double check your stocks and set out a ration plan for them and fill every container you can with water for drinking. Make sure the food's in a safe spot the water won't reach easily. Be ready to ration that too a storm like this is going to fuck up logistics with every retailer in the city and stores will be looting grounds for nignogs you want to avoid. Only bother with basic hygiene when reasonable you'll live being dirty awhile unless you have open wounds. Flood water is fucking nasty treat ASAP if wounds get soaked in it. I'm sure you got basic first aid supplies to use.

addicks reservoir is a massive reservoir on the west side of town. i-10 and hwy6.
it's got like 40-50ft levis surrounding it. theres dog parks, gun range, and maintenance garages/ buildings that are inside the actual reservoir i think.

The Addicks and Barker watersheds are actually pretty small. Rain falling further west drains to the south, and rain falling to the north drains to the east, both bypassing the metro Houston area. I have to say, Houston appears to be an excellently engineered city from a drainage perspective.

That said, this gives you an idea of where to look for rain rape. Even though the rain has abated in most of Harris county for now, these small watershed areas are currently picking up the heaviest rain.

Yes it really was that bad. Nearly all of them where moved in with months of free housing/rent and monthly payments. Crime rates of all kinds went through the roof, gang growth happened at unprecedented levels and most of the refugees refused to work for at least 4 months in. I saw the extant of how bad it got especially because I dealt with all these neighborhoods and people at a very close level.

3. Harvey is regaining tropical cyclone characteristics. Harvey's low level center is back on the coast and it's feeling the drink. This has led to new heavy rain bands near the low level center – basically right over Houston. This also means the TS winds will start hitting the surface again, and with the saturated soils, this should push over trees and really start increasing power outages.
