S.T.A.L.K.E.R

Is Master difficulty any different here in comparison with the official games? If I remember correctly I could easily drop enemies with well placed headshots and they could do the same. Am I the one that needs to git gud?

It's a lot easier than making them not retarded.

Why is being a gopnik so hard?

Get arsenal overhaul, I have no issue killing stalkers and it adds a whole bunch of neat firearms.

That picture always reminds me of loli STALKER. One of the few quest threads of a reasonable quality to actually get a fucking ending, albeit a bit of a weird one.

I suppose it's compatible then. I eventually got gud and started sniping my enemies. They still get me down with a couple of shots though

I probably missed it entirely. I tend to take hiatuses that last months if not the entire year.
Also is Autumn Aurora good?

It was on /tg/ back in 2013 so quite possibly. It's archived if you ever want a read though suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive.html?tags=Loli STALKER

Yes if you're after a more polished SoC replay. If you didn't like AMK you'll certainly like it though I prefer AMK personally.

That was unclear: I like both as do many people I simply prefer the style of AMK. If you however disliked AMK then AA2 should be right up your street since it's opposite in style while still being good. AMK doubles down on the slavcore shit while AA2 feels more sane.

I played it for a while, had to tune the AI to be less ridiculous. Why mod makers think that it's perfectly normal for a drunk bandit with a broken AK-74 to be able to headshot you from a mile away in the dark through foliage while lobbing a grenade directly into your slavpucci I'll never know.

Alcohol works backwards on gopniks: the more drunk they are the more accurate they get. Really though I agree with you. CoP mods specifically all seem to turn shit up to artificial levels. I wonder if the more polished nature of the game attracts people predisposed to it?

Been a while since I've seen a story thread of those. That loli is probably an anomaly in it's own right

This pisses me off more than anything else. If I can't fucking see em why is it they can see me?
That shit was insane in CS. I remember pursuing Strelok through the power plant and then getting teleported to an area with Monolith. I ran to cover and started shooting, only to see a grenade fall from the sky right in front of my fucking face, hitting the top of the cover and immediately exploding

>start new CoC loner game on Veteran, because I can't git gud

How's stalking going, fellow stalkers?

Whoever decided to not give the main merchants detectors should hang. Thankfully I found a svarog one when I decided to trade with an ecologist. Now I only need to find the best one and then I can go hunt all the anomalies in order to get the RU for my exoskeleton

Stop this.
I hate women.

Hello there.

It's a veteran loli stalker lad, to keep you warm in those cold Zone nights

So 1.4 patch for CoC is nearly done and already on bug-fixing phase. Can't wait for the release.

>>>/cuteboys/

This guy has a point, there is not such thing as female S.T.A.L.K.E.R. because there is no such thing as a Russian woman, all Russian women are women from a nationality a Russian just raped instead.

Zone hates women too.

if you want weeb shit go somewhere else

That's because the Zone gets jealous. She's the only woman you need.

Fuck, I don't know which game the faction locations are based on

Maybe it hogs them all for itself?

no

Svarog is the best one user.

...

What addon is that, warfare? Can't be vanilla, right? I think I would've noticed

:^)

Im with you, female stalker porn is good and all but it's just bullshit

Worth it

I got confused, I actually had the bear detector. Now I have the Veles, and I'm currently looking for where I can find the Svarog

There's like a 17% per day at your DESIGNATED factions trader, for loners I think it's owl

Yeah it's warfare. I'm also using Arsenal overhaul and dynamic faction quests.

You like AO or does it break balance?

Freedom, please, go fuck mutants somewhere else.

Ray of Hope when

Closed beta starts today, but they only gave keys to the slavs

Google is pretty good at translating their runes now, and some guy said it will probably open up in about two months.

Balance does shift a bit, since it's easier to come by good gear early on. And some stalkers end up like gun piñatas from all the different shit they like to loot and hoard.
Other than that it mostly just adds flavor and variety to the game.
The snipers are a bit strong maybe, but they are equally as expensive, just like their ammo. It still takes about two 7.62 mag dumps to kill a chimera, so it's not like hunting gets all too easy either.

Sick. I've burnt out on CoC and need something new to play.

Have you seen Escape from Tarkov? It's like /k/ meets STALKER.

Everyone starts as one of two merc factions, BEAR and USEC (Russians and the West), and they have to finish I think five instanced multiplayer story matches with iirc 16 players, 5 BEAR, 5 USEC, 6 scav. When you finish these story missions you get access to free roam, where you can become a scav, which is the cheeki breeki bandit of the game who starts with randomised health and gear. There are also NPC scavs on the levels.

Also every part of the gun is customisable, from the grip to the firing pin.

Nothing that will fill that niche correctly or effectively is going to be built in the Unity Engine.

Take a look, if you want to see more in depth gun modding I can find that bit for you.

youtube.com/watch?v=Qp55GJZnKRY

My statement stands.

Don't do me like this fam

youtu.be/vof9Fquazxs?t=614
The weapons

dead in the water

casuals

They say it's MMO, but I'm not entirely sure. The intro of the game is instanced, and they haven't shown the free play yet. I'm pretty skeptical but it looks good enough to not be a dealbreaker itself.

I haven't played SGM but it looks like everything dies if you breathe on it. Misery was pretty based in I think it was 1.2 but the newer versions look (not tried it) to be full of inserts from other games, like stimpaks.

Don't pretend your opinion matters to anybody.

Nobodies opinion matters, silly stalker.

What makes SGM superior to Misery?

Kill yourself

Misery WAS pretty based if you unfucked it.

Slap LeMis on top of it and its the best CoP based mod there is.

Pretty solid argument you have there.

Exactly, because SGM is girly mod with airsoft SMGs and

...

Okay faggot

Make it a murder suicide please

...

In 1.2 or the later ones? I always see people slating the later versions but I didn't play it.

1.2 was basically more guns, everyone dies easier and ammo is rarer. Also helmet and masks on the HUD.

Yep, still shit.

WOW FUCKING EDGY I BET YOU LIKE REAL VIDEO GAMES LIKE MASS EFFECT AND KATAMRI DAMACHI

Master difficulty everyone. Anybody knows where to find those damn basic tools? I have the expert ones already ffs

45% sure it's SoC
Only because Military in Agroprom, Bandits infest garbage, CLEAR SKY DEVILS IN THE FUCKING SWAMP seem to be the main change, but don't quote me

Kekkedy kek. Git gud fgts.

SGMfags BTFO

Long live Misery, the true Queen of STALKER

I'v spent something like 8 hours all together trying to get some pst fat soft mod to work with no avail.

I need to stalk the zone to wash the failure away, and replace with some other more violent failure.

Isn't that basically Master difficulty?

Misery is basically Master Difficulty: The Mod

I would like to know what the artificial difficulty involved is though, since you can drop enemies quickly if you can shoot straight.

Doesn't the AI aim way better and a lot faster than you?

shoot yourself

Yeah you're a retard.

Tools are found in stashes.
We really should put that in the OP, it's one of the most common questions in these threads.

No?

At least if I tried I would actually hit.

The first and last time I played (1.2 I think?)

Misery is shit

The AI is the computer, it will only miss you if it wants to. In Master difficulty it tends to get incredibly accurate if you have bad luck/survive a few bursts and it's still alive. Moreover even shotgun shots will hit for a lot of damage when your puny sniper rifle can't even hit them due to faulty accuracy

wat

I guess I have been giving the wrong version, it was a pretty long time ago I played it. I looked at a recent video and it was full of retarded stimpaks and shit. When I played it you just had to sneak around, get cover and not waste ammo. You could sneak up behind someone and shoot them in the back of the head if you were lucky enough to get an opportunity, they didn't have eyes in the back of their head or anything.

Oddly enough on one of my runs the trader for the military actually had a set on him for sale.

I did search for it, sadly there ain't much to see since the mod is rather unknown. What I did find was that merchants supposedly have the basic set for sale, and the expert and master sets come from stashes. Thing is, I already have about 8 hours here and I haven't found a single merchant that sells them

...

I wonder; how many people here have actually seen Tarkovsky's film 'Stalker', on which the games are loosely based?

Actually, to be precise, the games are also loosely based on the novel 'Roadside Picnic', which the movie 'Stalker' is itself loosely based on.

One of the best films I've ever seen. It's not an action-horror, there's no gunplay at all (except for a brief part of the beginning when the authorities are trying to prevent the characters from entering the Zone) - just a surreal, melancholy excavation into the most shameful and solemn recesses of the human soul.

A sizeable portion of the cast and crew (including the director's wife) actually died after they finished filming it, since they shot it in and around an abandoned hydro power plant.

It isn't too bad a movie. I've seen it called minimalistic, which I think is a pretty solid way to describe it.

Truth be told I have a far bigger hard on for Roadside Picnic in general. Even as much as I love S.T.A.L.K.E.R. as a game, the entirety of the book has left me with a deep desire to learn about the other zones in the universe.

The RPG that was released for it only further compounded that issue

This is the first time I've seen a hydro plant blamed, got any info?

It's been a long time since I saw it, but I remember the scene the lecturer (?) picked up the phone quite vividly.

Anyone think that someone will merge all the areas from all three games, with Faction War mechanics and maybe more guns 'n shit?

That sounds like what Ray of Hope will be, but with co-op and multiplayer.

There's not much online about it though and it's just entering closed beta so it could suck.

Well, shit, I just realised it's on Youtube (in two parts), for anyone interested who has two and a half hours to spare. It's not like any of you have any video games you should be playing or anything.

Minimalistic is a good way to describe it, actually. I did not know there was an RPG for Roadside Picnic, but I'm going to have to go track that down now.

Some interviews with different members of the crew. Apparently many female crew members had allergic reactions on-site when they filmed around some toxic, foaming rivers (which appear in the film). Tarkovsky certainly got lung cancer afterwards, as did Tolya Solonitsyn, and then Larlsa Tarkovsky. Wikipedia touches on it- I'd snoop around a bit more for you, but it's four in the morning where I am. I really need to call it a night.

I think it's the Writer who picks up the phone. As I recall, they're already sat down arguing, which gets worse because a phone keeps ringing, and the Writer picks it up in frustration (and it's somebody trying to reach their local chemist, or something like that). The call itself was, of course, one of the anomalies, since there couldn't have been someone alive on the other end (and presumably the line was disconnected anyway- I forget the details). I do particularly remember how after the Writer hangs up the phone, a moment passes, then the penny drops, and there's an amazing moment of silence between them all as they grapple with what just happened.

Then again, I really need to watch it again. I'm probably getting details mixed up.

Well I actually found a basic toolkit in a stash in Cordon. Now my only question is whether I should just give it to the Cordon mechanic or move to the Rostok one, the vodka slav
(checked)
Would be nice indeed, CoC mixed with CS and with the usual faction bugs fixed would be fun

I also think it's a great movie but still don't forget your coffe because no matter how you spin it, the fact is it's a boring movie.

I did read at IMDB some of the crews died of rad poisoning, dunno about the wife.

Wrong replies. First one meant for

I meant to reply to the fag who likes Misery.

Bless, you forgot to change your ID back m8

Well here's your link for the RPG, in case you are more of a buyer for tabletop

drivethrurpg.com/product/100243/STALKER--The-SciFi-Roleplaying-Game

Yes

Give em to the vodka-slav.
Try to finish the mechanics on key positions first (unless you come to cordon more often of course)

...

Top-tier taste, user.

...

What is it?

Is there a way I can tweak the weather patterns in Autumn Aurora to be something besides rain and days that are so dark that night vision is often effective 24/7?

It was nice at first but now it's just fucking annoying that that seems to be the only sort of weather I'm going to get after several hours of playing it and multiple days in zone time.

These faggots need to be tied to a pole stripped naked with a fucking toz shoved up their asses and rigged to fire if they lower their body.

I swear the strangest shit happens in this game

Atmosfear let's you do that in the main menu, maybe it's the same?

Sounds interesting, how so?

Is Clear Sky worth playing?

yes

...

I think that's a bit too blunt to call it a reference

I'm afraid you've "LOST," by J.J. Abrams, me on that one user.

Are there any freshly translated mods? This is the only site I know of to look:
translate.google.com/translate?hl=en&sl=auto&tl=en&u=http://stalkermod.ru/

Screw you "Carlos", by Daniel Leconte

I used to listen to these guys all the time, what a great band. I don't even speak slav

For what purpose?

...

Come on! Anyone? These look good

If I knew I'd tell you fam. Not many people come to stalk anymore, so you'll probably have to wait a lot more

I'd even translate them myself If I knew how (and had a program that doesn't fuck up the formatting)

Only up to Red Forest, after that it's shit

I have only read the novel. I heard that Tarkovsky's movie is to the novel as Lynch's 'Dune' movie is to the 'Dune' novel. Is that accurate?

Posting one from the radio mod for CoC
Also
I'm glad I'm not the only one but seriously what the fuck?

CoC 1.4 when?

and updated warfare mod when?

Where the fuck is he hiding. Maybe the designated trader is indeed Sirovich

I swear he's practically giving money with the shit I bring in for him. Doesn't really help when Yantar's also pretty packed with mutants and shit. Still, it's nice being fucking rich.

Yeah, the game has some sort of difficulty barriers. First you deal with being poor and trying to manage your ammo and supplies. That lasts until you get to Yantar. Everything will be fine and dandy until you realize you need your equipment upgraded, so the next barrier will be the fucking toolkits

Holy shit I'll need to pull a miracle to get out of this one

GRENADE IT MAN, GRENADE LIKE GOD COMMANDED YOU TO

I really wish they had a radio in your PDA in CoC like they did in SOUP, would make Stalkan even more comfy

Thank you based Zone, now I just need to rack up some more money in order to fully upgrade my Tunder and Vintar BC

Man I love the Tunder, I wish the ammo wasnt so hard to come by though, that and a scope would be nice.
I usually stockpile the ammo and then taker it out for a spin when I need to clear out a base.

Well, I suppose I get to conserve a lot of expensive ammo since in Master difficulty me and (hopefully) my enemy are made of mostly paper. When I find a Tunder and a Vintar I go around every trader and buy all the 9x39 ammo they have (money isn't a problem if you've been sucking scientist dick) and after doing that regularly I tend to have a steady supply. Of course, the Tunder/Vintar are only used for humans, I have a Striker and a Black Kite for mutants

What changed on Master? At least for CoC, does it still have the bug that makes bullets disappear? I've been playing on master because of that.

I have been playing CoC since the leak days and never found any "bullets disappearing" bug. What the fuck are you talking about?

What mods make me crawl and fear for my life? I want to enter a military base and start playing mgs

Well, some bullets seem to not hit at all, both from my gun and sometimes from the AI too. It's pretty strange, but as I said before, CoC is full of strange shit.

Play on Master difficulty

I hope you honored the loss of your fallen brother, and the sacrifice he has given you.

In the first stalker if you fucked with the difficultly it would make you bullets literally disappear as you fired them. This was intended for NPC's but had a side effect of happening to you.
You know I never actually checked if it happens with clear sky and Call of pripyat.

Of course I did! I sold the night star to the scientists and kept the Svarog for myself

I know that, but that was never a problem on CoC, at least playing on Master (as you should, always, on any Stalker game ever).

You're either wrong or some add on fucked up with the accuracy of the guns on the .ini

It could be one of the new updates for the mod. No stalker should be able to survive 10 shots of Tunder to the upper body

I swear to fucking god, why is companion AI so god awful? I just want them to fire at enemies but not fucking chase after them.

I gave them instructions to only fire when I'm attacked. I don't think that'll fix them much though. At least my loner companions are tough as nails, one with a HMG and the other with a F2000, they always get left behind and manage to come back alive in the next area

Why would you even try it? No game has had decent companion AI. Not even games centered around them like ass effect and cisquisition manage it. They're either barely sentient retards that have to be herded like sheep or idiots that yolo every engagement and die within seconds.

I wish you could give them armor. I have some nerd following me around for a while but I worry about him because he has one of those yellow scientist suits on.

I just want an option like in The Faction War where I can just set their behavior to Defensive and have them bodyguard me without chasing shit all day. They didn't even fucking hide when an emission was going on cause they were trying to kill a bloodsucker.

Use the number pad to control them while fighting, do as said to keep them from going batshit insane, chasing every single moving thing. The "go to" order is the best thing to keep them safe on some situations.
Not ideal, but the AI is workable, probably better than many other games.

Eh, hardly worth it with how much they slow you down I'd say.

I've done enough rescues to know that you can never trust followers to do anything good for you.

Farewell sweet prince, I will always remember your sacrifice

Is this all possible in a Stalker game?

It is in the mod I'm playing, the strangest shit happens in CoC

You'd be surprised, had CoC and wafare set up, played around as an ecologist and decided to check out the military after fucking around near Yantar , turns out clear sky had mopped them up completely and were running the place in Agroprom. So I started up a military playthrough and basically fought my way through the Great Swamp, at one point with a group of 17 of the finest men I ever had fighting with me.

Clear Sky's base left us with 3 other guys before the final assault, and as we pushed forward we fought tooth and nail in some of the most brutal close quarters fighting imaginable. All the while, the Clear Sky's radio was playing this above the din of fighting

It really is pretty fun, AI can be a bit wonky, but pushing for a territory with that many people definitely feels amazing

Is that actually a thing in that mod? I've no idea since I am a loner and it could be that they don't have any of that

It is when you mod the mod with more mods. The rather plainly titled Warfare is the one that adds faction warfare.

...

How common is the happy merchant play style anyway?
It is the only one I know

We posting Russian music?

I'm not sure if it's because he's singing in English or it's actually just basic music, try this on.

I managed to purge the place of scum, and a few soldiers that were hanging around. I did use all my regular ammo and a lot of AP ammo though

Noted. Thanks m8

I'd say pretty common. You do need the rukels for your upgrades

...

No problem. To give you a little more to go by, the package I used with Warfare was:

Arsenal Overhaul adds a shitton of weapons, and seems to be the highest quality out of the mods that do the same. Dynamic Quests adds a few more NPC radiant tasks, and makes it so they have multiple missions at a time to give out for a little reroll capability. Faction Playlists just adds some more songs to the different faction radios. Helicopter Sound makes military choppers sound nastier and more terrifying. The prone mod really just makes your low crouch camera go to ass level rather than actually making the player character go prone, but it has its uses, just don't think you're unexposed while doing it, the player body only goes a little lower than a normal crouch. Nanocell inventory expands the number of inventory cells available for a certain area of screen space, making the inventory less of a pain. Warfare is Warfare. Call of Changes just adds a bunch of neat little tweaks, although I'd highly advise against installing any of the screen effects other than the basic HUD mask overlay; all they're good for is letting the AI skullfuck you with wobbly cameras on hit & lengthy black-haze blood jelly eyes, in similar fashion to how they stumble when you hit them soundly. Except they can get their bead back immediately, where you can't. Not worth it.

I'd also add a few things on install order. For the most part, I recall that you can just go straight down the list as long as you make sure to install their respective compatibility patches for each other, however, Warfare has a dummy file for AI radiant quests- st_quests_general.xml, located in gamedata\configs\text\eng - that fucks things up, so make sure to re-replace that with Dynamic Quests' version of the file. And obviously, use the Call of Changes installer last, as it requests. All of the above work for the current non-beta version, I think it was 1.3.2, but I'm not sure about the beta version, which I think was 1.4. Best of luck.

Not the user you're replying to, but are there any stalker compilation packs where a non-idiot with decent taste (such as yourself) went and made an idiot-proof .exe installer for a decent collection of mods?

Just sayan, that would be tits.

Not that I know of, no. That'd be nice for those reinstalling, but it's better that people get the experience detangling the mess of compatibility patches & checking over the ModDB comments for what doesn't work with what themselves, even if they're walked through it, it'll serve them more in the future than an installer.

EVERY fucking time you go to the red forest there's a military squad there.

And a lot of them have 9x39 weapons. You'd best bring fuckloads of grenades.

How to v-sync in CoC?

No the Movie is very different from the book. Like the only shared aspect is the Zone. The book is more like stalker with the anomalies and mutants and artifacts. The movie implies of anomalies but low budget Russia film in the middle of the cold war makes special effects hard The movie feels more like some art-house thing out of Russia than anything else, but if you want to watch it, go ahead.

(checked)
Fuck, that's what I feared. Well I've been raiding places for artifacts and loot and I managed to get myself about 18 rifle grenades. I just hope my fam can survive such an onslaught

I might have to consider carrying around an RPG

Thanks mate
Oh… I forgot about the helicopters. I disabled them since the one at Cordon was becoming too much of a nuisance and I was just starting, I completely forgot about them after that

Fuck you, Sid.

I gave fam number two a proper burial in Cordon, inside the rookie village. That means I created a new stash in his name, with an epitaph

At least you didn't get in there with fog. I accidentally shot a bunch of mercs when I first came to dead city and they fucked me and my mates up

damn it

Last time I played CoC was around the time it leaked. I played it a ton but dropped it before the actual release. Is there anything dramatic that they've changed for the full release?

Already playing on master. Sometimes the kill me on one burst but they're so slow to react it's really easy

Im gonna install all the russian ahrdcore mods I find

I had the exact same mods on my CoC, lost it all after formating, but once 1.4 is out I will put together a similar mod pack and make one package download so we get more people into the game.
There are also some mods on the Russian site (ap-pro.ru), the translator is shit and navigating that site is a fucking nightmare, but it might be worth looking into it before finishing the mod pack.

on the subject of stalker has anybody ever put out the music of all the games in a lossless format? i'm digging through google and all i found is slav websites with torrents and no seeds or nothing

after half an hour of digging i found it
pirateunblocker.com/torrent/15611885/STALKER_Series_(GOG)
includes the goodies just tell your torrent client not to download what isn't the OST

forgot magnet link

What do the fuck do you mean you can't find Owl, do you not know who he is?

Do what you must tough guy

On the subject of music, I must admit I still don't know the name of the original from webm related

It's been years, I probably forgot about him. I've only managed to find Sidorovich, Nimble and Xenotech. If I remember correctly he was staying at a house near the mechanic, but there's only a bed and nobody else there. Don't tell me he got himself killed

stalker.wikia.com/wiki/Owl
READ NIGGA READ

For what purpose? I guess I mistook him for someone from SoC or something

Because Sidorovich is a cheapskate and you know it.

When life gives you lemons, you have to buy ammo from the jew I suppose. Still I'm going through Jupiter, should be in Zaton soon

I'm sorry fam, I'm so sorry

How do i get a companion? Is it an add-on? Only thing i added to CoC is Ao3

It's for CoC. If you manage to get someone to like you (probably by reviving them when they are wounded using a medkit) they'll turn green on the minimap and their relation will change to "friend". There should be a speech option to travel the zone together

also i downloaded the OST and it doesn't include all of the actual music just the OST, so i'm redownloading the games and ripping their music one by one. pic related is an example

No, it's not any different really. You were probably just missing.
One shot to the head with a reasonable caliber bullet is enough to drop anybody - even a controller. Exosuited people may take two shots.

...

At least we got the STALKER series and its mods. But yeah, watching what has happened since then has hurt

Trigger discipline is for those who aren't disciplined at life.

Having played the shit out of all three STALKER games, I still appreciate how it generates more greentext stories than anything else I know of / care about.

Dorf Fort is a story generator of about the same power or even more.

...

...

Which shithole is Survarium in nowadays, anyway? Last I heard about it, they added microtransactions.

It still hurts

You can also hire NPCs from your faction when your ranking is higher than their ranking. What's more, if you hire a team leader, the whole squad tags along with you. At max level you can have a personal army moving around, fairly often if you are with a big faction (mainly, military, Freedom and Duty).

s-such is life in the zone?

its a generic ass multiplayer shooter with zero creativity or interesting features.

they promised an open world fucking years ago and nothing ever changed. The microtransactions have been in the game since day one.

Zombie army when

anyone got that infopic that talks about the mods?

...

oh

Here is an un-watermarked copy of the stalker tabletop game if anyone is interested

dropbox.com/s/k1gh364eaq6a18g/STALKER - The Sci Fi Roleplaying Game.pdf?dl=0

You're doing God's work, user. I wanted to hand out the copy I had but didn't know how to take my name off the damn thing.

If any of you stalkers download this, check out the tables for making anomalies, you can create some pretty crazy shit.

...

Is there a fast travel mod? I've spent too many hours in these games. I'm also thinking about giving myself a bigger inventory weight limit.

...

Are you retarded or something? I can be fully equipped in a matter of hours. Go play CoD.

Does anyone have any ideas whats causing my constant crashing? All I have is AO3 with the lastest CoC. Is there anything in particular that seems to increase instability? I have most everything maxed except grass density. It seems to happen the most around the truck cemetery and dark valley. It happens every time I try to enter truck cemetary but then i load a save and i'm in fine.

Monolithians are zombies, just less brainded so they can into tactics and stuff

Just picture that with an even more braindead expression

Happened to me too at the truck cemetery. There's just so much stuff in it the game probably can't handle it all in one go

I thought zombies were hostile to everyone but themselves too. As in, braindead enought to not understand that monolith is basically insane too

Calm down chicken patty badie, I can survive well enough and have guns and ammo to spare.

I've played SoC and CoP for hundreds of hours so a few creature comforts aren't bad in my mind.

Fucking mercs are some of the toughest sons of bitches I've fought, it's been one hell of a challenge to keep a foothold

Anyone got the starter pack for CoP?

what all did you install and in what order? I burgled my shit when I tried to combine everything

You are wrong, russian women are a genius of potato spores and they spend majority of their lives growing russian children out of their many black spots.

Somewhat unrelated but still related.
1d4chan.org/wiki/STALKER:_The_RPG

The Ray of Hope map looks pretty baller. Unfortunately some faggot named "ART - IS - TRUTH" striked the video before I could download it or post it here, I was taking my time since I read that the devs weren't going to be taking an embargo on the closed alpha very seriously. I don't remember him using any music so fuck knows what the strike was for, unless the slavs are putting copyrighted music on radios again. Funnily enough the same guy has Tarkov closed alpha footage that hasn't been striked.

It was around 30 minutes of them testing the map out with no NPCs at all. From what I could gather they spent their time exploring ironing out the parts of the huge map you could get stuck in, since it ended with them jumping deep underground and a glitched map section stopping them escaping one way, and a bugged ladder stopping them from escaping the other. I think a dev spawned in on them once or twice. Of the 30 minutes they spent most of it descending this complex with nothing stopping them, so yeah it's big.

The underground levels are fucking huge, probably the biggest in the series, and this was just one of them they explored and they couldn't even finish it. With sewer systems, military complexes, train tunnels weaving in and out through each other with broken walls/access doors/lift shafts etc joining them up. There are also vents to crawl around in.

So if you love stalkan underground, you're in luck, because it looks like the underground is going to be fucking massive. I saw them polling users a while ago and underground was a pretty highly polled option, but cities was higher, so get ready for lots of claustrophobic, close quarters combat.

GAME OVER

I'm pretty excited. I wonder how respawning is going to work? Think of all the times you smack the quickload button when you play.

how do i play shadow of chernobyl without getting PTSD?

Not sure how dated this info is as I didn't check the date it was posted when I saw it at the time, but I remember someone saying that you lose everything but your armor, rubles and stash gear and go back to spawn. I think this was for the 2015 version which was going to go beta but got leaked and made them hold back though, but again I can't remember. You get to modify your guns at least so there will be plenty of tears over people dying in the underground.

When you spawn come out of Sid's bunker, turn left and continue down the road and wait with the guard at the village entrance, soon enough a military squad will get into a gunfight there as they use the road just a bit further up for patrols. That should get you a pretty good selection of gear to choose from and sell, from there on out you can do what you want. Keeping two main guns on your person and having some others of different ammo type stashed away should keep you flush with ammo and when you get a feel for the area you'll be able to pick the ideal loadouts for missions. There is a box in Sid's bunker to store things in, and there's one around each trader. Stalkers will also loot crates so don't put it in the wrong stash.

Don't walk into anything that looks strange, throw a bolt at it and if it does something angry it will probably do something angry to you if you step in it. Climbing up things can save you from dogs and other close range mutants, taking cover and peeking out from corners are a must for gunplay.

I'm getting excited again and it feels so wrong.

Fuck it, I'm setting everything on automatic and going merc hunting by myself. Maybe if I thin their ranks they'll eventually fall

CS's homing grenades are what I remember the most from that game. Quicksaved every 20 seconds thanks to that

Play on Master and quicksave often, you'll see what Stalker is really about

In CoC, what hoops do you need to jump through to get the data off of a PDA?

Go to one of the main traders, there is an option to tell them you have something they want. There you cash in your PDAs and if you're lucky you'll get the coordinates of a stash

I've been looking around a little bit, on Ray of Hope, I was hearing about them wanting to have servers for groups of people, any word on what they were looking for in terms of max numbers? It might ruin the immersion a little, but the idea of a guy or a group of bandit scum getting fucked sideways in a botched ambush and crying over an all chat with 64 players (or hell, even like 20 would be fine to me)as we take their guns and loot for ourselves is potential salt mining worth it's weight in artifacts.

The idea of house to house fighting and sweeping through massive complexes, not knowing if death will come in the form of bullets or bloodsuckers is also a bit too good to pass up.

okay Holla Forums i'm near the hotel where you get the free military suit on shadow of chernobyl. I was meant to go in the sarcophagus but first i went all the way back to the bar to resupply and dump loot and now that i came back it's full of mutants and that's expected but near unreachable buildings i hear this screech and my screen gets a slight purple/blue tint while something pulls me really hard in it's direction. i have no idea what is doing this and it never damaged me but it's everywhere, is this a controller? i don't remember them doing this

Is there a way to edit starting-relationships with other factions in CoC? I want to play as military but stay neutral with the loners

moddb.com/mods/call-of-chernobyl/addons/doctorx-faction-relations
grab this addon and mod it with notepad++

Didn't work sadly, I TPed to Rostok for testing and instantly got gunned down when I tried to enter the 100 Rads

Forgot to mention: In the menu, the Loners were marked yellow/neutral though, also I made sure that the actor_[faction] rows were properly edited too.

fuck's sake nigga
dropbox.com/s/mumuq77rs4sqsgj/You_dumb_nigga.zip?dl=0

Controllers fuck with your vision and make the camera close up on them. If you can't see him then it's probably hidden behind something. One thing to be sure is that the blue tint means psychic shit is going on.

I got my mods working and with OWR, warfare and dynamic warfare the traders/techs are now gone from my map…Did I burgle something new?

yeah i know the controller's main attack, the one where he pulls your camera in his dirrection. but there is something actually sucking me in it's direction and i never had the blue tint on other controller encounters

...

It's not a gravity anomaly is it?

anyone who knows how warfare works care to make a guide on how to properly command units and so fourth?

I can only tell you to press insert to open the faction menu. The rest is either obvious or I don't know about it

I kept on telling them to go to red_smart_terrain_1_3 or whatever it was once we took all of the other red forest territories and everyone just stood around.

Fucking A.I. crapshoot.

The AI is shit, you have to be patient with it. What I do to make it bearable is turn manual control off, the dynamic AI managing is way better than waiting for them to actually listen to you

Nigga PM the uploader and ask him to throw it on mega or voilafile or some shit. Then chop it up into webms and post it here. Or reupload it.

Is there any plans for multiplayer for CoC? Imagine a Crpg mod like the Mountain Blade one, anons of all factions fighting for territory and supplies from outside the Zone.

It sounds like RoH will provide everything CoC would faction-wise, and then some.

Is it on manual by default? I don't recall making anything manual

It was one hell of a shootout to say the least. I've been doing side quests and found that the anomalies haven't produced any new artifacts at all, dunno why. I moved onto the second area and they seem to still spawn there but no dice in the starting area… I still made a killing of over 60k rubles before they all vanished, found mostly common types and one semi-rare one apparently. Rocking a modified SPAS and another common gun, been stockpiling 5.56x39mm and 45mm as well ammo and I have quite a bit now nearly 1.5k, shotgun shells are cheaper and thanks to an accuracy boost for the SPAS I hit pretty easily at a good range, fantastic for mutants though.
I'm having a lot of fun dicking around and shooting things whilst ducking in and out of anomalies finding free money.

Holy shit that sounds fucking gorgeous

If you can see it there's a bloodsucker over the hill and some zombies I ended up battling. I didn't fight the sucker for some reason guess it's camera shy?

I mean, your faction has players. They'll be at war or peace as appropriate. Naturally, there will probably be shady deals among players, like Duty and Freedom trading weapons. I wouldn't be surprised at all if groups of PKing bandits roamed around.

I bet they'll also be sneaky briky faction infiltrations, for example you're character is a Duty vet and you get a buddy to join the game. He's a complete rookie so you get him to join the local Freedom group and then report back to you about troop movement, ammunition etc. I don't know how that will affect the reputation system, what if you just massacre your buddies, will that be in your history that other players can see?

Anyone else not able to see stash locations on your map in CoC? Not ones you make yourself, but the one's you find or coerce out of injured enemies?

Does anyone else think the STALKER devs had a sort of unintentional crazy-like-a-fox genius?

They put out games that were rushed and buggy, with lots of cut content. Then, they patched (some) of the bugs. After a good 6 months or so, the patched vanilla game was technically sound (no CTDs, no corrupt save files), though still with a somewhat flawed execution that left fans wanting more.

Inevitably, fans made mods so good that playing the vanilla game more than once was a bit odd. Modpacks and appropriating other mods into one's own became common. It's kept a single player game series from slavland alive for almost a decade now.

Bethesda does it too, I guess, but in a much less charming way.

stalker devs actually play video games

I don't know, when i get close there is also an animalistic screech and it looks like strelok is hallucinating

Done, I was going to grab it for you guys eventually but your post gave me a kick up the ass to get it done.

I even carefully crafted the message in Russian, using google translate. I assume it is readable since it translates back and forth without getting corrupted, I think the problem people have with them is not typing in proper English and getting salty at the translator not understanding u wot m8 wear is da vidya.

>that ID

:^)

Bad news m'cykas.

Not only was the video deleted from YouTube, but by the time it had been our cheeki breeki friend had deleted it from his hard drive. I'm checking to see if it's still hiding away on YouTube's servers in case I can get him to edit the infringing material out from the dashboard, but if not I'm seeing if I can get him to go get some new footage.

I have begun to learn the runes and ways of their people. Soon I will be one with the Russians, and then I will understand their mysterious slavic souls.

user, there's always IGG.

what video?

30 minutes of Ray of Hope, exploring the underground and stuff.

I asked him if the video was deleted from youtube and if he would upload more, to which he gave me a 'Da'.

He is not a man of many words.

So I'm not sure if it's a yes to both or not. Mysterious slavic soul etc. I'll just have to watch his uploads.

I asked him for more videos and gave him a ))))))))) - Russians love that shit

Not only that but it seems to be wildly popular with slavs. In fact it's arguably given them somewhat of a more positive image to cling on to. Instead of being thought of as merely poor post-USSR slavs their alcoholism and poverty etc is actually now something they can be semi-proud of. Similar to what has happened to Scots post-Braveheart, arguably.

What's that even mean? Do Slavs secretly enjoy pringles?

Lost Alpha has all maps merged into one game. Also the unfinished ones. Not sure about the faction war but its basically the base game with all maps and some mods.

It's how they do emoticons, the more you use the bigger emphasis ^)))))))

what did he mean by this?

see basically it's apparently emoticons without the eyes, because like all asians, Ruskies have eyes so slanty they don't even look like they have eyes.

Thus ))))))))))))))))) means jovial Asiatic joy

...

That's the thing stalker, they're worth money outside the zone. If you want the real money you gotta leave the zone…What kind of stalker would you be if you did that?

You know what's the main diference between Bethesda games and Stalker?

For Skyrim:

For STALKER:

They are both flawed games, but the Stalker series always remained good games first, even without mods. I can still play Call of Prypiat for hours without mods.

11k tax-free dollars. Pretty good for a couple of days work.

You are basically the miners digging for gold, you'll be able to make SOME money, but unless you have connections, you're usually going to only make what you Loot, steal, and shoot for, to the point of where you would be more likely better off using whatever artifacts you come along, rather than selling, especially if you can cancel out the negatives.

For proof of this, look at yourself, and look at the Mercs. Mercs are, for all intents and purposes, hired at rates so steep they sometimes take payment in artifacts, have the best equipment and gear, and tend to be extremely tactical. Their only drawback being general inexperience of the Zone itself.

Despite that inexperience, since this group can easily bring artifacts out of the Zone (or as easily as the Zone and Ukrainian government will allow). Many corporations that are interested in the artifacts will hire these guys to bring them in to better understand in their effects and how they can be used. Ecologists will hire Mercs to help study the zone in relative safety, and Mercs will use this to further their own more than likely bloated budget. Of course, for all the extra pay, most groups will be openly hostile to you, and at the end of the day, you're still easily expendable.

#KillAllMercs

Those poor bastards inside the building, the survivors definitely seen some shit now.

GSC really nailed the theme of Zone as not only an entity of itself, but also a place for the desperate and the deraged.

I liked the Gordon cameo where he complained about how boring the Zone was, and that's exactly how it is compared to your usual action game. You're exploring/doing missions and the Zone itself is more of a risk than the mutants or the bandits (well, if you play AMK invis anomalies anyway)

You can imagine how hard it is for the unconnected to leave the Zone without attracting government attention.

There must be a few stragglers with the occasional rare anomaly that get preyed upon by…well everyone.

I on the other side liked the 2 desert eagles near his body

I completely forgot about that, feels like an afterthought.

anuu

Made me chuckle, so you get an * for effort.
I was in the hospital for a few months, why do file names look so weird now?

please tell me it gets better

i think they're hashes now. codemonkey implemented deduplication to the website (the same image isn't saved multiple times on Holla Forums's servers)

It's been a while, Stalkers. I hear CoC is getting a new update soon, I haven't played it in ages. What are they adding? I remember they changed the way you got toolkits, where do you find those now?

Also, I forgot, but I'm updating CoC now and I'm wondering do my save files become useless after updating? I want to play my radical Monolith terrorist again.

What mod??

A bit. But not by much.

CS it's pretty hated for that very reason.
Skipping to CoP is understandable, CS really is the weakest of the series.

It's strange though. If you played CoP after CS you can see a lot of the mechanics that either worked or didn't in CS get cut or reformed into what they put into CoP.

CoP if definitely the best hybrid of CS and SoC.

If you pay attention to the time lines of the games they're well inside the tech tree of our world to have drones, auto turrets and other devices of death. What I'm getting at is crossing the military cordon (not necessarily the map cordon but any part of the zone that is "cordoned" off) to the zone is almost assuredly a death sentence unless you have a pro tier stalker navigating you past anomalies, military snipers, drones, mine fields, anomalies, mutants, bandits and whatever else the zone might have to offer.

Of course you'll have to pay to pro tier stalker guide a healthy sum of money to get you in. You have to hope he's not some cheeki breeki that will just kill you in your sleep on the way and take your shit.

Assuming you survive the zone, find artifacts worth selling, and have the funds to pay another guide to take you out (or risk finding your way on your own, good fucking luck) then maybe you can make it back to civilization and find some buyer for your precious loot. That's assuming you don't get caught in the act of selling artifacts to some faux fence and get sent to cheeki breeki rape your butthole with vodka bottles and broom handle prison.

Nevermind the fucking c-consciousness that can detect greedy fucks and make your life extra shitty in the zone.

A cautionary tale for making money off of the zone is the "I want to be rich" ending of SoC. If you want to make money form the zone start a business selling survival gear to stalkers outside the cordon. Don't actually go in the zone.

The upgrade system was refined in CoP - it felt really tacked on and unfinished in CS.

Why outside? What about Sidorovich and Nimble? They operate inside the Zone.

So I reinstalled SoC and wanting the A-life features as well as repairing added in AMK, now since I haven't played SoC in well over a year a new to me was made called AMK: Autumn it's just a bunch of mods, translation fixes and such and so forth as well as a texture overhaul on top of AMK. It was looking up some improved guns or at least new animations for them and some new stuff in general, I was wrong. The first mission with the bandits, we all know it, well I went to do that and the moment I get shot this fucking mod makes it so if I'm shot I flail around like a retarded baby on crack and I can't hop back into cover or simply get out of the way no-no, I lost total control because the animation takes over my movement as well and makes it impossible to hop back into cover, use a bandage and hop back in doing it better. I lose control totally and get fucked over by the overhauled animation system because some genius thought it was be immersive to make me flail in combat and just deal with it, what the fuck man?

that's what I said.

There were lots great ideas in CS that simply weren't balanced or were poorly coded. Sad, even with mods I don't think CS is ever going to be close to what the devs had originally intended

You said it yourself. You don't have to cross the cordon to trade with Nimble or Sidorovich. They effectively have a zone centered economy.

Both of them have some nice gear but it's still within the confines of the zone. It's a zone economy. There's no direct "supplier" for them, it's all traded in the zone. Gear is smuggled in, stolen from the military, or brought in by scientists and it all play a part in the exchange.

Sidorovich is right on the edge of the cordon so he probably has some contacts on the outside that help him get a regular flow of newbie gear, guns and ammo but it's not like he can have a truck full of shit just roll past the cordon.

I'm kind of bothered by how pointless it is to do tasks in CoC, their rewards just aren't worth it compared to the going price for the average artifact, and general corpse looting. Especially when I'm required to go all the way from Cordon to Jupiter and back just to get rid of some random faggot, and my reward is something short of 20k.

They should at least tell you where your objective is BEFORE accepting the task, that way you can more easily judge which missions you're willing/capable of fulfilling, otherwise their only job is to give you a random direction to move your ass to.

I like how dynamic faction warfare is but at the same time I fucking kill on site bandits and of course my freedom bros decide to fucking align with them. Now I have to put with cheeki breekis fighting along side me.

What mods are you using with CoC? I'm using (or at least I'm pretty sure, since it's either one or the other) Doctor X or Dynamic Quests, and AO3. For the most part on a military playthrough I just now managed to want to push deeper into the zone than just Yantar down to Great Swamp but the quests are supposed to, at least to me, give you a direction to go killing/ looting/ or artifacting in and less as a "YOU HAVE TO GO HERE" barring the storyline's they give you, in Dr X's case.

Although I have to agree that being told the shit I have to deal with is in fact in the Great Swamp especially since I hate trudging through there as most of my jobs end up being specifically finding the fucker I have to off and then running back instead of fire fighting would definitely be great to be told about that.

However getting a Vintar because some stupid ass Lt. bet you because no one can get close to the target is almost worth the trouble

After my vanilla playthrough I want to mod CoP. I really like the idea of misery: Everything being a bit darker, a bit more "realistic" and more weapons and stuff.
But everyone constantly complains about misery here, so my question is: Is there a good alternative?
Maybe combining Arsenal Overhaul with another mod?

anuu

Has the arsenal overhaul merge with CoC come out yet? I've been holding off on CoC for that.
Also how steep are the prices of things in CoC? In CoP with the latest version of arsenal overhaul, I had so much fucking money that I was able to buy some of the most expensive guns and max their upgrades with just doing the missions in the game and not going off the beaten path.

Guys i need help. How do i reach the brain scorcher in CoC? Do i need to talk to the scientist in Yantar and get a PSI-helmet?

There are a few mod packs for CoP that were solid, but nothing that changes the game drastically if I remember right. You're better off waiting for Wormwood or Gunslinger if they ever come out.
Misery is a frustrating piece of shit that was playtested with trainers. Don't bother with it.

AO3 works with CoC, yes. Prices are pretty fair from what I've seen, though I was never really hurting for money since I hoard a lot.
God damnit.

what the fuck, I looked it up and this seems to happen if you have a shitload of graphics mods but it's just vanilla
I turned my textures and shit down a bit and it still does it

The guy recently picked up development again.

Just installed CoC, but remembered I have to patch it to 1.3 since I used the .bin segments off moddb kek at the butthurt retards in the comments.

Here is the mods I plan to install, Y/N?
Particle Paradise 3
Helicopter Sounds
Gore mod 1.2
PhotoRealistic Zone 1.4
DoctorX Questlines 1.3
Absolute Structures
Absolute Nature
Arsenal Overhaul 3

Is there one that stops the AI completely ignoring anomalies, through killing themselves or magic immunity?

How about you remember some of your funniest moments that you experienced while playing STALKER?

Anons riling on misery is mostly out of spite for the devs by now.
It IS shit however in its default state, change around some values with the LeMis unfucker or manually and you´ve got yourself the best mod CoP has to offer.
The only legit complaint I encountered yet was that shit was not worth doing, and the unfucker takes care of that.

And just to be clear DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES PLAY MISERY AS IS, you´re gonna have le ebin MMO experience.

What the fuck am I reading

It is playable, but hardly the best mod CoP has to offer. Having to fix a mod is pretty pathetic as it is, the artistic direction is also fucking awful.

what does this even mean
first I was getting out of memory crashes so I had to turn my textures down, then I got it to work
then I installed AO and a few other addons and now this

Try going in _appdata_ > logs > xray_user_log and finding the last line before
FATAL ERROR
Then, copy the bit after your custom install location and do a specific search for that term in google, and it will bring up all previous people with that problem. It hasn't helped me yet, but I don't have the same error you do. What are you trying to run and in what game?

Does anyone know what the 1.4RC3.1 patch for CoC is? Some faggot on reddit mentioned it, didn't link it, and didn't even bother saying what the RC stands for making it even harder to find. Apparently that is the solution to my problems.

Oh shit nigger I think I may have solved both of our problems while browsing the readmemes of all the shit I was forcing into CoC.

moddb.com/mods/call-of-chernobyl/addons/ao-for-call-of-chernobyl

That's compatible with current CoC, whereas this version:
moddb.com/mods/call-of-chernobyl/addons/arsenal-overhaul-3-for-coc-1224
The one I am pretty sure I have, says in the readme (and the URL now that I realise I fucked up)
So go check your readme file to see if the top line is this. Although most of the errors from using uploads from October have a line 193 error, which is what I am getting. I'll probably update it now and get the same error you are.

Still, cutting out the middleman is always a good strategy.

Usually RC stands for "release candidate".

I couldn't find it anywhere, and people are asking ITT for 1.4. I've managed to work around the issue though by using the right installation rather than the outdated one.

anyone has torrent for ogse? my connection is poor but torrents work in patience please thankyoy

Get Download Accelerator Plus™ and it will let your connection drop out whenever and you can pause it too. It also increases your download speed through internet voodoo.

i do not understand sorry

magnet?

it was okay but very slow paced. almost boring.

I actually just reinstalled but didnt install the gore mod I had and it works now

does none have ogse torrent please

I fucking hate the Mine. I spent literally an hour and a half fucking around trying to make a pile to jump onto the ladder and out, but ladders in CoC are wonky as fuck. So I head to the wiki to see what I'm doing wrong, and lo and behold, an apparent way is actually there, but I never used in Clear Sky. I bullheaded my way back onto the ladder and out the last time.

FUCK YOU MINE but at least I'm away from Yantar and Agroprom for a while. I've kind of walked that path a few too many times

I got it working with all the mods I listed from after ceasing my fuckwittery and using the right version of AO. All I had to leave out was the Absolute Nature shader (because I had a particles shader in use).

Pic related it's me having a cheeki stalk. I turn up the FOV to 75 but the screenshot function just ignores me, the blur has been turned down since.

It crashes here and there but it's not too much of a problem, it's mostly when I'm trying to get a bugged mission, it's just hard to tell which ones are.

Pics related, it's the Zone.

Why the fuck can I only find Advanced Toolkits in CoC? I just need basic tools right now.

You guys are the real stalkers

Basic toolkits are pretty rare and can only be found on stashes (haven't been able to check if a merchant does sell them every once in a while). I myself just found expert toolkits, I got lucky and found a basic one in a tree stump near Xenotech (Cordon) but I gave up with advance toolkits and just went to Forester. Forester is a damn jew but he has all the upgrades already, so if you're in for wasting money rather than time you can go see him right away

It's stupidly tough but you can actually find advanced toolkits once in a blue moon. Was doing a military playthrough and probably did like 15 missions easily before I found a single toolkit stashed away on the top of a shed behind the base. Had like 4 expert toolkits prior to that too so I was just happy to be done
