Every one of those young men who was photographed out there is now going to have that on their record, and it's going to be used against them. On the other hand, if that same number of people went into the Republican party across the US, the influx of people would be enough to at least make a shift within the internal workings, and thus, shift the public policy further.

However, people are young, and they want change fast. They want a day of the rope that settles everything, not a twenty year struggle to shift things. That's also why so many people in these groups, just like with Antifa, are authoritarian. They want a strong government with high levels of control that can shift everything in an instant. The long game of a republic is something they don't want. It took 200 years for the US to get to this point, and it was an extremely long game the opposition played. We're outnumbered and in check - but that doesn't mean we've lost yet. There's still a shot at winning if we get one of our pawns to the other side of the board. And even if we can't do that, we can still force a stalemate, and force a redo. This is still a better scenario than if we were in our present situation with a more authoritarian government - if online activity was prohibited as it is in South Korea, if weapons were prohibited in Europe, and the entire government was composed of non-elected persons like the US representatives to the EU, consider how much worse our situation would be.

This is all at the broader scale. If you want to make a personal impact, talk with people around you. Do you think that street preachers are the ones responsible for making Christianity spread across Europe? No - it was the early members who made others into disciples, who in turn spread the faith. If you can change the mindset of 12 people, and each of them changes the viewpoint of 12 people each, you've turned (You) into 157 people. Now apply that to the protests. If those people had followed this method, just 200 of them could have expanded their influence and converted 30000 people. That's enough to form a full city. Instead, they've created a situation that shifted public perception against them, caused the Republican party to go into full virtue signalling mode, and pretty much fucked their own chances.
