But it was. The unofficial patches solve so many of the original game's problems. Even the combat isn't as shitty as the people make it out to be once you stop treating it as a chore and actually understand the mechanics.
Sure, it's not perfect, but it's still great. I play it yearly, and this year being my 8th time through it I still discovered new things, like being able to learn an entirely new Discipline from Beckett.
