What does this have to do with a competent fight scene? The fight is badly done. The red guards are too robotic and ponderous to be seen as menacing, Ridley looks terrible, and Driver has nothing to work with.

Hollywood starts to kill off characters in franchises like this in order to skirt royalty payments to old, costly characters like Luke (the phantom palm) Skywalker. I was talking about this to my brother. At the end of ESB, you could guess pretty accurately what would happen in the third/sixth film. There were clear loose threads to follow up on. But with Disney Wars, that is nowhere near as true. There is no real flow or reason for the story, they are just winging it as they go.

At least George managed to create a bunch of new stuff that worked. Star Wars was the first film and he certainly had ideas for future entries, but nothing concrete.

After the success of first movie (which got renamed to A New Hope) George Lucas planned to make 9 movies in total, each trilogy would deal with a certain time period, first trilogy would deal with Han, Leia and Luke, second trilogy with post Empire demise and third generation with their children (Luke would act similar to Ben Kenobi teaching young Jedi etc).

Thats why there was no connection between Luke and Leia in first movie about them being siblings and Vader being their father and all that stuff, also it was heavily implied that all 3 of them were Force sensitive, Luke having affinity for Jedi training, Han being good with blasters and able to sense incoming danger and Leia being powerful in the Force to sense someones true allegiance in diplomacy/politics. This was even more implied during the scenes before major action starts when either Han or Leia say "I have a bad feeling about this" which is meant to symbolize their connection to the Force.

Reason why George Lucas didnt finish his 9 movies plan is because his feminist gold digger wife divorced him after the first movie and took half of his stuff + shitload of money + alimony which in turn forced him to wrap things up in a single trilogy and the main reason why Return of the Jedi feels predictable and rushed.

Maybe, it sure felt like a fanfilm but on the other hand there wasn't a single lightsaber fight in it as far as I remember. The protagonist also dies in the end so it isn't straight up formula like TFA was.
