Fucking hell, m8. I swear to you that I beat the game when I was 7-ish, it took me almost 6 months (no internet, no guides, had to rely on my brother's friends for the tough dungeons) but when I finally understood the ending I cried like a bitch for a week straight.

Even when the Souls games tell you shit, you still end up learning a lot via the environment. I feel like I might actually enjoy the games more if there was an official novel to flesh out the story.

And no, the shitty comics they put out don't count.

Souls games yes, since the environment only gives life to a fantasy world. Bloodborne no. It's too ambitious. It sets off to do an eldritch world with dream dimensions and layers of reality and all it has to show for it are enemy reskins and "you're totally in a nightmare, look, it's written right here on the title card". It's a letdown.
