OP sucks dick, let me take a shot at giving a proper review.

I've logged 15+ hours, explored 7 planets across 2 galaxies, have a 30 slot ship, 35 slots in my backpack, and enough money to buy whatever the fuck I want.

The first 2-3 hours are amazing when you first start off. The sense of wonder, exploring, discovering, learning, etc, it keeps you engaged. Leaving the planet for the first time and flying around was also a fantastic experience… for the first time. After that the wow factor dies very quickly. By the time you hit your 3rd or 4th planet you realize that you're doing the same exact shit on another planet.

The planets aren't even that varied. I've yet to encounter a planet comprised of water but the ones without water are just the same rocky plateaus with mountains and cave formations that look exactly like every planet you've been to, just maybe a slightly different color. I'm betting the water planets follow the same diagram too and they all look like every water planet ever, just a different color and slightly different foliage that follows the exact same function on every planet.

Each planet I've encountered has these pieces of shit robots called sentinels that do nothing but interrupt your mining. Lore-wise they're supposed to be safeguards that warn you when you 'take too much' from a mineral source but the moment you start shooting a crystal within their sights they come running at you and warning you. This leads me to combat. What the fuck were they thinking? I use my gun on sentinels and hostile animals and then resume what I was doing. There's nothing even there, you point and shoot and after awhile of taking damage it dies. There's no strategy, no depth, nothing. You have upgrades to enhance your gun and make it stronger but I've never had to do that because everything dies easily before you even take any health damage.

Scanning for species and discovering them all on a planet gets you a chunk of money but I'm convinced it's a waste of fucking time to do it because at least 3 times I found myself spending 1-2 hours looking for the last species and either finding it or not finding it and giving up. It's faster to find a planet with a ton of emeril or gold formations and just farm that and sell it.

So planets are shit, what about space and space combat? Space is great, probably my favorite part is when I say 'fuck this planet' and fly straight up and turn around to see the huge pile of shit I just left.

Combat? Not as exciting as hoped to be. You shoot a ship, it flails around like a retard and maybe takes pot shots at you, and you shoot it over and over until it explodes. I encountered what I believe is a storage ship outfitted with turrets and I have yet to fight it but I'm sure it'll just be 'Shoot the turrets', 'Shoot the storage to loot it', and done.

The music is all right, it's seemingly rare to me but when it kicks in it can be pretty comfy.

Overall I'd give it a 4/10. It's shit that needs a lot of improvement to make it more fun and less repetitive. It's one of those games where if you literally have nothing better to play, it's an all right time waster. But it is not fucking worth 60 dollars. Save your money until it drops to like 15-20. As it is right now it's shit.

the ships are all procedurally generated, the only thing that makes them different is how many inventory slots in them.
The only modifications you can make is using those inventory slots to make modules that increase your stats like better shields or more efficient fuel.
Just add "ship classes" where certain ships will be good at mining or scanning or fighting to the list of seans lies.

There isn't any. Like even Minecraft at least has some reason to keep playing, especially since it has a small file size, but this just seems like a demo for their new space engine more than a proper game.

This game isn't cheap either, it's a full priced game that costs twice as much as Minecraft which isn't even that great.

I want to know if there are any good space sim games in the share threads, especially ones that run on toasters.

But at the same time he's so vague about it now, and its been said two players went to the same exact spot somehow and still couldn't see each other.

The "interesting charecters" I meet are real people, a quarter of which will kill on sight, half with ignore you because they either dont speak your language or are busy for anything more than "o7 cmdr" and the other quarter are friendly.

The mission boards are way better than they were, they have some depth in progression if you like to hang around one area.
It's hard to learn, so learning is also part of the experience, it really is hard to learn everything you need to know via just game mechanics, you need to ask word of mouth like a socialite would, or use various guides etc to get you up to speed. If you like learning and a feeling of long term and shirt term achievement this game really can hit the bucket, but you have to learn what to do that makes it fun for you, just like real life. I'd say it's almost a real life wilderness but with cool space stuff thrown in.
As for community, it really makes this game and without it I would have probably been bored 500 hours ago (700 in right now) my game hours on elite are actually based around a teamspeak, in game, a slack, leddit /r/elitedangerous (besides the forums it's the only good community hub and I can't stand forums due to battlelog forumfield syndrome).

I've just seen it progress, innitiatly I got bored when it released, I couldn't understand anything and gave up after trying for 30 hours, I was tempted again by reviews and other people, tried it again and got addicted as fuck.
Initially I wanted the best traders, then the best ship, then the best empire ship, then I switched to pvp, then grind other things, then explore, then pvp then community stuff, then engineers comes out and all my hard work requires more hard work I persevere and the hard work pays off.

Etc, it's really addictive for a certain kind of player

The inventory system feels limited. The amount of fun you can have is limited but your inventory space.

After this they can do a lot to add more rooeplaying flavor to the game. Let me make my pilot a certain race who starts off friendly with his own race with a high Gek word count. Let me build rep with other races that actually means something.
