The Nipponese trailer does however show the Team Skull guys speaking like generic anime tough guys, so there is a distinct style this is likely an attempt to keep instead of just a translator's ass pull.

Really hope showing the leader with only 2 Pokemon isn't a sign this game will be super easy yet again.

Team Galactic is garbage and they added too many legendaries. Granted, gen 5 added just as many, but it also added the most pokemon of any generation, so it gets a pass. Personally, I found Sinnoh to be a pretty boring setting, too.

Electric Terrain also increases the power of electric-type moves. People don't realise because nobody ever uses it but now there's WHOAH DUDE surfer Raichu and the legendary that sets electric terrain when you send it out, so it might actually be useful now.

Compared to gen 3 and gen 6, they had a much better goal. Team aqua wanted to raise the water level and team flare wanted to kill everthing and rebuild as if that wouldnt fuck them over completely. Destroy "the world" using the power of Dialga/Palkia and remake it to suit Galactic's boss. Pretty similar to Flare's to be honest.

It turns out their goal was actually a lie and Cyrus was an asshole who wanted to be god.

Regular galatic was basically just a Team Rocket-esque group that stole pokemon for their leader. Essentially, they were a cult who did exactly as he said, but didn't know their goal beyond that.

Cyrus would have used that amassed army to march to that mountain to go catch the legendary pokemon and bend them to his will so he could "remake the world in his image" and essentially become god.

For that, he was trapped in what is basically hell in Platinum.

Gen 4 had a religion theme, and it's the only game that actually has a church in one of the towns.

Sort of. It's a difficulty mod but the additions don't make much sense. Basically every trainer has competitive moves from the start so it's immediately a grindathon to get decent mons to even get anywhere. Also the story text is changed but I can't really say if that's a good thing or not because >pokemon story. I'm pretty sure that's behind all the freezing dialogue though.

Also the region was shit, HM usage was annoyingly common (just as bad as Gen IIIs), new Pokemon roster was extremely weak, etc.

If HM moves could be forgotten, or if the move forgetter/Move Restorer were easier to find/use I wouldn't mind them so much, but more often than not you just get HM slave that you'll never use in an actual battle to get around the areas that need them

When people complain about it being slow they're generally referring to Diamond/Pearl, Platinum fixed the speed issue.
The other big issue of Gen 4 (Diamond and Pearl) was that many of the new evolutions were post-game, although Platinum fixed that too, most of them were trade-evolutions (Electrivire, Magmortar, Rhypherior etc.) and there was a general lack of certain pokemon, most notable were Electric and Fire types, which resulted in the Electric type gym leader using pure water types and Fire Elite four having 2 Fire types out of a team of 5. Despite introducing a fair share of pokemon, they weren't very diverse in typing.

Kriketune's design is both a beetle and a violin, it fits the musician theme. Skulltank using it's own tail as a punk hair is also pretty creative. Bronzong is an ancient bell mixed with an OOPA.

Skuntank really bothered me because just like Stantler, they didn't even try to deviate it from the real life animal it's based on. This is also why, just like Stantler, its design is bad and forgettable.

Man, everything about Jynx is cool except for the actual pokemon itself. Yama-uba/valkyrie opera singer/unintelligible humanlike spirit just gets boiled down into "fat sassy black lady-blob".

I hope she gets a shot at an Alola form or something, especially since her gen-1 counterparts Magmar and Electabuzz already got evolutions (even if they're not good ones).

I've always found it weird they're her counterparts just because of the babyforms they get in gen 2. Giving her a straight up evolution would be kinda hard to justify at this point but an alola form would be neat. Most people are predicting a Hula dancer girl…which is a bit boring but works.

Bellossom is already a hula-dancer though. It's practically Alola-Vileplume already. Since Plumeria has sort of a ganguro/yamamba look going on it might be neat if Jynx went from Yama-uba to Yamamba and matched her.
