Here's another golden oldie for you: Blood. That was definitely my favorite game on the Build engine, with a tie between Shadow Warrior and Duke3d a close second. Monolith productions made some good stuff in the years following, but nothing touched the sheer manic enjoyability of the original Blood. Something special about all those quips and one liners from Caleb, all the Easter eggs coupled with extreme gore and occult themes that even to this day has not been matched again. If you're looking for non-pozzed games however, you're better off looking at older games than anything modern (even most Jap companies are starting to follow suit, with few still sticking to what made them popular in the first place). I'd recommend most of Falcom's games (Ys, Legend of Heroes series, Xanadu, etc.) and older games in general on the Jap side, but in terms of the western side, Deus ex 1, the first 3 Thief games (ignore the 4th one), and a lot of RTS games like Medieval 2 Total war, Command and Conquer series (preferably getting them without supporting EA), and 1st W40K Dawn of War.

Ultimately, we should focus on fixing the shit going on in the world right now before going back to just playing games (though there's nothing wrong with taking a break now and then).

I remember the first time I watched someone play GTAIV when it came out (I didn't own a console). It was the first videogame that made me think "this is it, this is the future of gaming we always dreamed of". Remember when you were a kid and you talked about how cool it would be to have a "realistic" game? I don't mean "realistic" as in, Normal Life simulator 2017, but in a way that things work in the way you expect them too, like you shoot an enemy and they ragdoll like a real human. GTAIV was the first, and unfortunately last, glimpse into a future where wild technological ambition was finally rewarded.

The sheer level of detail in GTAIV is still unparalleled. I can go on for hours about all the ways in which GTAV objectively regressed from GTAIV but few people care to listen. A brighter and more exotic setting and horribly dumbed down, lowest common denominator driving physics were apparently huge improvements in the minds of the masses. It's a shame because I don't think we'll ever again see a game that reaches so far ahead of its time as GTAIV did.

Why spend $100m on building a modular, lifelike framework for police AI, which is so completely it can be turned into an entirely separate game (see: the mods where you play as the police) when it can be spent paying off your friends with exorbitant PR, HR, and marketing salaries?

Yeah, when I saw IV I was amazed, just everything looked so real, the driving, the walking, the visuals/feel, and sounds. Before I had the game I just imagined pulling up to burger shot and seeing the realistic suspenion of the car as it goes over bumps and parks just getting out (actually having the option to keep it on or off too), going into the resturant, getting something to eat, leaving in your car or just walking around, it really was something. I just hope the problems with V was just because of last-gen limits and will be fixed in 6, there is a lot of removed things the in files that would've added to the game world, driving is no excuse though, they need to fix that.

Remember V was originally built with old hardware in mind. 6 is going to be full next gen, should be pretty clutch. Look at Red Dead 2 to get an idea; that game looks fucking amazing.

GTAIV is a better racing simulator than the PS2 era Gran Turismo games in terms of variables being modeled in real time (i.e. suspension geometry is actually modeled and different between cars, it has a 3D road surface, etc).

That's what I'm talking about when I say GTAIV was the pinnacle of technical excellence in gaming. There was so much being modelled in real time that the game felt honestly alive. Normally all of the little, lifelike details are completely scripted so they lose their impact as soon as you've seen it happen once.

Vanilla GTA V online is trash. The Heavilly modded RP servers are the real shit.

Is it just me, or did the handling in GTA 4 troll the fuck out of you sometime. Like cars spontaneously change the way they're handling at the worst possible fucking moment, like getting chased by the cops on the freeway next to a river, and you randomly flip and go careening into the water.

GTAV's online is ruined because it seems like every mode is always trying to stealth push you into deathmatch, and I hate fucking deathmatch. Other modes pay absolute shit, I tried doing the CEO missions and you end up dropping $45k buying antiques and drugs and guns, then some dickhead lvl 200 blows up your shit and you're fucked. That or "lol, helicopters stole your shit, chase them around for 30 mins and never catch them, sorry loser." Or "thugs stole your supplies and now they're scattered across the map and even though you're driving a fuckhuge truck you can only pick them up one a time because fuck logic. Oh, look at that, while you were transporting one shipment back, two assholes came along and blew up your other two. Get fucked."

I mean, if you ever want to get back to playing the online for GTAV, you can more or less create your own empty lobby for CEO bullshit.

You open the resource monitor in windows while you're in a lobby, and you suspend the game for ten seconds, resume it, and you're alone in a "public" lobby. You can also invite friends, but that sometimes breaks the game and allows other people to join the session. That was pretty much the only way I could stand the game back when I played it.

Snap oversteer was a big problem with the stock physics on most cars. While the physics engine was realistic in that it took a large number of variables into consideration, R* chose unrealistic parameters for many variables (ultra soft springs/shocks on most cars) in order to slow people down. Unfortunately, that meant most cars handled like complete dogshit, with things like the rear end uncontrollably stepping out in an instant once the grip limit was exceeded.

It was touched on before, but I really believe the original Witcher 3 was hardly cucked at all. It looks like some panel of SJWs demanded changes. They added a slight feministy angle with some of the stronk female characters. They did include muh scapegoated oppressed minorities (dwarves, elves, witchers, etc.) in a bit of the dialogue but what was most glaring was the obvious last-minute cut scenes awkwardly placed throughout the main quest in that style/format of the opening cut scenes of the game itself that shoehorned the aforementioned liberal bullshit.
The one DLC added sand niggers into the mix but aside from that the game is 100% WHITE.

I still have hopes for VI, but I'm cautiously optimistic. I'm still playing IV regularly to this day. V I played through once and spent a little bit of time on the MP then tossed it aside and haven't looked back since. GTAIV will most likely forever remain my favorite of the series, and that is saying something, because Vice City was pretty legendary.
