I was listening to an old David Irving lecture from early 80s last night. He must be among the best historians ever to live in terms of being able to locate shit. Anyway, he was reading from some stolen diaries he managed to rent that belonged to Churchill's assistant for £5,000.
Churchill had a plan to drop 2 million anthrax bombs onto Germany (which would have made it still uninhabitable today) and they even tested it on a Scottish Island, which is still uninhabitable (they claim it was "decontaminated" in late 90s, but experts still tell people not to go near it w.o. a vaccine). I'd never heard of this island, thought maybe he was exaggerating or overstating it. Search it, and sure enough:
"Gruinard Island (/ˈɡrɪnjərd/ GRIN-yərd;[6] Scottish Gaelic: Eilean Ghruinneard) is a small, oval-shaped Scottish island approximately 2 kilometres (1.2 mi) long by 1 kilometre (0.6 mi) wide, located in Gruinard Bay….The island was dangerous for all mammals after experiments with the anthrax bacterium in 1942, until it was decontaminated in the late 20th century."

My fav line from the BBC article: "The 1942 test was sanctioned amid fears the Germans might attack the UK with biological or chemical weapons."
They're outright lying. Churchill, in his fucking drunken stupor was arguing for using them as a first strike, and giving all the reasons why it was perfectly OK to violate the Geneva convention. Since no one could stand up to him and tell him he was insane, they had to give "Strategic" reasons it wouldn't work. And as it turned out, it was later learned Germany had stockpiled Sarin and would have wiped out the entire UK.
Makes you wonder, what other historical figures painted as "heroes" were fucking scumbags? Churchill was also a fucking coward, as he'd leave London (and his entire staff) there until he got the code breaking info that London was not the target, then come back and act fearless on the roof of 10 downing (knowing he was safe). Who else have we been lied to about?
