Its odd to them because from what I've heard from people who go there, places in Japan are pretty much exactly what depicted in movies/shows/games (that are realistic… ya know, no fucking mechs and crazy shit, talking more along the lines of how normal life is depicted in something like persona4 for example)

Things are calm, and chill, they work hard, but the cities are as safe as you can get, people are quiet and polite but theres a lot of activity and of course they have their own seedy/shady areas where stuff goes on that shouldnt, but in general the people and places depicted in entertainment are generally accurate to life

Compare that to how soooo much of the west is, and how it gets romanticized in media vs how horrible it can be in real life. Take new york, they make it look like this great place most of the time, full of life and energy and sure you have some assholes but you have a general "shared sense of community" and what not. In real life though, its disgusting, its trashy, it stinks, the people are all rude arrogant pricks, and so on.

Paris is the same in different ways, its painted as this picturesque landscape thats relaxed but very lively, full of people, with nice places and its safe everywhere just like in major japanese towns. In reality? Its full of fucking niggers and degenerates and drug addicts all of which live off the government.

And thats really the big problem, living off the government. It enables all this bullshit to go on in the first place. You don't see much of it in japan. Sure they have some social welfare that goes on, but in general most people would rather work and stand on their own. In the west, so many people have become so selfish and arrogant and hateful to their own societies that they just want to leech off whatever they can and have no sense of pride or self respect.

Anyway, its not just paris, its the entire western world. Most asian people who come here with some idealistic vision of our countries in mind, go home depressed and disappointed. We are not at all what they are led to believe. We're a fairy tale, and you never feel good after having your fairy tale ruined.

A place to visit to get in touch with your roots and to understand the foundations of western society. Even only a short while back, Europe was the place that you'd go for romantic getaways. I went there last year and it was better than I expected. Which is to say, everything I expected to be terrible (the people, the food, the migrants) was there and then some (trash collectors were on strike that week, so it was worse than normal), and it could only go uphill from there. Dantalian no Shoka (The Mystic Archives of Dantalian) is pretty damn close to that. More magic than steampunk and it's set in England rather than Prussia, but otherwise pretty spot on.

Pretty decent anime.

I went to Paris early July this year, and it wasn't as bad as Holla Forums led me to believe.
The food's actually good, and the architecture is pretty impressive.
The frogs were really nice too, they didn't really give me shit for not speaking frog as rumored and an older gentleman actually helped me out on how to get to my destination without me asking for any help beforehand.

The shitskins were awful though, but Holla Forums already knows it. I got scammed by one by actually letting him persuade me into taking his cab, and almost had my shit stolen by another.
Still, I'd say I would visit again.

Now Switzerland on the other hand I'll never set foot in ever again.
I went to Zurich and people were rude as fuck, even the waiters and waitresses when it's their fucking job to at least put up an act, food wasn't that great but ridiculously expensive, and the whole city is basically nothing but tourist traps.

Ahh yes, Paris. I spent a week there last December and less than 2 hours after landing at the airport I had to pull my knife on a group of niggers to get them to back off. The squad of French soldiers wandering around the cathedral I was visiting were no fucking help, they must have gotten used to watch whites get fucking swarmed by niggers. What a shitty city.
