Social Media Manipulation

Confirmed:
Websites like Facebook and YouTube use sophisticated algorithms to identify political extremists and redirect them to certain content within their sites. This happens on a massive scale.

When you watch a video on YouTube there is a sidebar with "related" content. This sidebar is used to slowly gravitate you towards moderate political ideas. This is not an initiative by government agencies, but rather by the companies themselves.

Does it even work? Do people really change their minds?

Facebook did a study on if they could manipulate their users emotional state by altering the content on their stream. According to themselves they succeeded.

How much content to you discover trough the sidebar? For me that is a lot.

When you post sexual content on Holla Forums, like you did right now, someone is going to get distracted. Is that now why boards like this is flooded with pornography, while other boards are not?

what's more, is for example. I am a member of an international sporting federation so Kikebook had been great to maintain contacts all over the world. Here is what has occurred to me. Kikebook has basically blocked any posts I make on any subjects because I have been categorized in some past way due to political speech. If I were to post, help my daughter was hit by a car this morning and I am on my way to the hospital, no one would see it because of my past political views.

Yes. Twitter does this, Facebook (not a surprise), ads companies etc. I really suggest people to use noscript or any other script blocker to block their scripts as much as possible. Also not saving cookies will help against this.

A lot.
I found Millenial Woes through the sidebar.
Guy is a total softie.

FUCKEN WEW
I guess I have to talk with my old friends through fucking pidgeons now. I always knew it would come to this.

Not wanna derail or anything, but to whom does that magnificent ass belong to?

This isn't news - this is something that should have been obvious to anyone with the least bit of advertising savvy for the past seven years, give or take.

This is the main reason that I never use the sidebar, except to quickly return to a song or something that I've already listened to. If you want to find "new" material, look at the actual account tied to the video you're watching, and other accounts which that person has subscribed too. It gives a much wider range of options than putting your faith in algorithms.

On a related note - pay attention to any advertisements you see directed at you on these sorts of websites. That's assuming, of course, you don't simply block ads. If you can see what they want you to buy, then you'll know exactly what to avoid.

I noticed that a long time ago and blocked the suggestions bar in youtube with uBlock.

Yeah. They probably hide your content.

This is proof. Both that they do it, AND that it is politically motivated.

Almost zero actually, its all shit in an ocean of shit to me. I tend to search specific videos and ignore suggestions.

A pointless distinction considering these companies are more or less government agencies anyway.

What matter is proof? We don't have any laws against this sort of thing. Democrats won't make laws against it because it works in their favor, Libertarian-leaning Republicans won't because they don't want to risk the slippery slope towards other forms internet censorship, and the rest of the Republicans are too disorganized to pass anything one way or the other.

I'm also fairly certain that this came up about a year and a half ago as well, with Facebook. More than that, in fact - Facebook social manipulation has been a recurrent thing ever since its inception, and they've made barely any effort to keep that fact hidden. Google we've had solid proof for a while - namely, things like Holla Forums being taken off of the search results (is it back yet? I just use StartPage nowadays).

Regardless, the sort of thing proof is good for - convincing people - is already a lost cause. Anyone using sites like Facebook now is already a lost cause. The only thing we can do, as the people that no better, is to simply not play the game ourselves.

Well, is it working?

Fuck off.

not you obviously, get to reality you degenerate fuck

To some extent, maybe, but edited media was probably much more effective on creating public opinion. What I think ruined it for them was peoples ability to communicate online. Just read any comment section in any online newspaper. They have basically lost control by now.

They will never win.

Me too. Which generation are you? It seems more like millennials are taken in more by spoon-feeding.
Gen X here, I treat everything like it's a jew.

I quit using Faceb0rg a couple months ago because I could tell the feed was contrived and against my positions, and I only use the "suggested videos" sidebar in JewTube to find part 2, part 3, etc.

This. Basically my friends have to add me to a list to

Pretty much have to.

>Some of these people are browsing this website right fucking now

After raw-dogging Baph, I'm sure I'm immune and just a carrier at this point.

None, I don't even look at them.

It's not about red-pilled "extremists" who know what they're watching. It's about keeping normalfags from veering too far off the kosher plantation. That's why jewtube is littered with controlled opposition alt-kikers so there will be plenty of kosher content to steer normalfags away from anyone who would address the JQ to those who literally never will.

This is about as analogous to herding sheep as it gets.

I imagine it is more effective for those new to extreme content. It would help keep normalfags as waffling centrists to quickly offer them opposing views with tons of apparent social validation (likes) to coral them back away from hard right views.

I do quite a lot of salt mining on my college facebook group, the moderators are actually right wing, so there is zero censorship, and the leftist fuck that gets in sometimes due to the group being the college official group gets triggered as fuck every single time I post something.

Therefore, i'd say that red pilling on facebook is not useless, just harder than on other places.

I do think I am throttled, but since the triggered leftists keep bumping my post, it eventually reaches a lot of people

No fucking shit, anyone barely aware of things can see this happening for years.

It's called subliminal programming. It's been done for decades in advertising.

Anybody who doesn't block ads is a subhuman.

facebook is not cool anymore

I remember when I was a kid, people still read magazines. Whenever a new magazine came in the mail, my dad would flip through it and rip out all the advertisements. Just tear them out and throw them straight in the trash. Ad blocking before the internet existed.

If you know anybody who can't break their television addiction, you should at least berate them into muting the commercials. That's better than nothing, at least it eliminates the emotionally manipulative music they use to control how people feel. Of course if you can, put a hammer through their television and tell them to thank you for it.
