Is there another dying mmo that people give less of a shit about?

Is there another dying mmo that people give less of a shit about?

Wildstar bombed but its still talked about
WoW is casual garbage but is still talked about
SWTOR keeps chugging along and is still talked about

Guild Wars 2 is so dead and nobody even cares about it enough to talk about how bad it is.

Is this the most 'with a whimper, not a bang' slow heat death end to an mmorpg in recent times?

Does ANYONE even play it? anyone at all?

That's wrong though.

People still talk/hateboner about Guild Wars 2 though, as this thread shows.

I remember trying to play it on my brother's computer maybe 2 or 3 years ago and I couldn't stand it enough to even get to level 10. the movement was just terrible.

Dofus.

Multi-accounting and leeching killed the game.

I still know people who play both of those and see websites talk about them ever week. I dont know anyone that stuck with GW2 past its first 6 months and never see websites talk about it anymore, because they know nobody even cares enough to hate it to click on bad news articles.

Thats fucking dead as dead can be.

I actually got an Elementalist to lvl.80 when it came out because if thought the idea of a landmass of coral covered deep sea undead rising to the surface was cool and wanted to see it. But the entire experience was kiting, running in a circle and nuking everything. Then i tried the Mesmer that looked cool but was equally as boring.
The game had some interesting art and nice music but it was an utterly soulless experience i forgot about till i found my box for the disc today and looked up how it was doing to see how dead it is.

Also the bots. The hundreds and hundreds of bots.

You do realise anyone can check out NCsoft's earnings report and see that GW2 is doing really well, right? It's currently one of the most succesful MMOs right now.

Picked it up a while back and it's okay for a Themepark. Has one of the better atmospheres. Writing varies from decent to saturday morning cartoon. I like jumping puzzles.
10 button. You didn't play beyond the first ten levels? (one long evening)
Heart of Thorns -content is pretty good.

You mean the money it makes from infamous whales like the sad anons that spent thousands on it? that doesnt mean its population is healthy, its just doing better than games like wildstar in profitability. Its still not growing as a game but declining no matter how much its shrinking but zealous IDF want it to be the best game ever.

I would assume so since after the latest piece of shit in the genre has failed, you always see those couple of battered housewives saying they'll be going back to GW2. It may not be thriving, but the playerbase it does have sure seems to be dedicated. I personally haven't played since a few months after launch, but they must not treat their playerbase too bad these days to foster that kind of relationship with the remainder.

They created a beautiful world and some fantastic art and assets, then palmed it off to an office full of monkeys or skeletons or something. I'm not sure if it was ever again as active as the fucking beta weekends, when there wasn't enough time for the novelty to wear off.

No it fucking is not.

The Story is a buggy piece of shit, the pve maps are on timers, mastery levels are a fucking grindy joke, they shitcanned all of the legendaries, they shitcanned their terrible new world vs. world map, pvp leagues are a disaster, no new pvp modes, no new activities, raids are shitty and legendary armor is locked behind them, elite specializations might as well be called mandatory specializations.

The only 2 things they got right with the expansion are gliding and finally un-fucking fractals of the mists.

Now that they have finally, after nearly a fucking year, stopped dicking around and are getting back to their living story, the game might not be total shit for a while. The expansion fucked this game so hard that it probably won't recover, and I pray that the rumors of them working on a new expansion are just that.

I'm not sure in what alternate timeline you're living in, OP. Is this some kind of reverse shilling?

These are images of people in locations currently used by the most recent story update in the most recent patch.

There are plenty of people still playing this game but this is intentional deception.

No image because I'm lazy and you already know what I'm talking about. Guild Wars is a joke now.

I played a Mesmer to about level 40. The class was fun but trying to play anything else was just fucking boring. I would love to see other games take the Illusion-based class idea and try putting into a good game.

is the game still just partially f2p?

The GW2IDF anons must still be lurking and eager to defend their maidens purity. I am honestly surprised.

But after the anons showing they spend like 2 gand a month on cosmetics i'm not too surprised. Gotta rationalise all that self worth time and money investment right?

There are no truly fully f2p games out there. Those that don't ask money in any way sell data about you.

The new areas are fun to explore. The story is sorta interesting.

Not sure if that's even possible.

Also, ever heard of the concept of psychological projection?

Oh no there was at least 3 anons posting their gem spending habits when it launched and one even had credit card debt from it.

I have no idea why you would do that, but i also dont know why some anons have a forest of dragon didlos on their bedroom shelves, people are not smart with money.

I don't know man. Tried making a new character today and played for about an hour. I ran into more than a dozen people already in the starting area.

I think the smart thing about the game's design is the level adjusting. Means higher level people have more reason to visit low level areas.

Are half of the classes in this game still irredeemable trash?

Of course, that's where the most PvE players are currently - but it's not like the rest of the maps are deserted. F2P players are everywhere, there's always someone doing their legendary collection, even Orr has an occasional farm or two.

There is a surprising amount of roleplayers nowadays. My home server isn't an RP one, but I've been bumping into RPers fairly frequently on multiple maps. Rata Sum's pub is always full of them.

The sjw nonsense including and especially removal of certain animations, poses, and textures ensures I will never play or care about this trash or its parent company/creators ever again.

That's all i remember. I LOVED the first guild wars, and this failure doesn't deserve to have the same name as its predecessor. That's what you get for firing all your staff and hiring SJW, i'm sure when the market crashes "GW2 dev team" will surely look good on your CV, faggot.

I stopped playing when the expansion came out. Playing without it is pointless and I didn't want to buy it because the devs went full SJW so I don't want to give them money.

I enjoyed it though. It was perfect for me, buy to play and no pay to win, that's why I bought it in the first place, I was sick of all the "free" mmos where you can't do shit unless you pay for various unlocks and bonuses.

Now I don't have an mmorpg to play, but whatever, I'm definitely not going back to that SJW infested game

user, do post those changed armors.

What do you mean OP? it has the best written characters ever!

The lead writer for Living Story season 1 was fired after the conclusion of the season. As bad as it was, it's over now and has been since 2013.

There are no hamfisted references to sexuality at all that I can recall since the end of LS1.

Source on the leftycuck shit?
What did they change?

brony shit, PROBLEMATIC armour changed or removed, everyone is gay and so on.

Rift. Funny how it was memory holed relatively shortly after release, despite receiving much applause from paid out critics.

The base game was extremely mediocre (especially when compared to GW), but was a good time sink and didn't ever force you to pay to play. You could play barbie all day with your characters and then do a dungeon and then do some wvw for a change (pvp was never good, why would I want to play the same game mode for 3 years). I still regret playing it, however. There were so many other games that I could have played in that time, but instead I wasted 3 years on mediocrity.
The expansion the f2p update killed the game for me by taking out dungeon rewards, fucking up fractals, putting the raid lfg area in the most interesting map of the expansion, and messing with the wvw maps. No point in dungeons since they only give you tokens, no point in fractals since it would require grinding through tons of easy repetitive levels for a glittery backpack that clips, and wvw takes a few years to get in because EB queue is the only one that people queued in.
Granted I deleted my characters a while ago, but I wouldn't be surprised if nothing had changed in that time.

That's good, but they should try finding someone to fill in that position. And while they're at it, maybe they can put someone on the dungeon team as well.

So that's why Living Season 1 isn't playable anymore, huh.

What exactly did it have so bad?

I can't believe I payed for this pile of shit, but I got a lot of enjoyment out of the first. I dropped 2 after maybe 5 hrs, it was some bland shit.

anyone still playing project gorgon?

They didn't do the Cantha (asian) district in the human city because it would be "offensive". They removed certain idle animations for human females like stretching their arms because it was too sexual. (Officially it's because of a "bug" but nobody buys that fucking shit.) The first season of Living World was infested with LESBIANS in the story for no good reason. What user said here is thankfully true, and there is virtually no SJWism left because of very valid and vocal complaints.

The main antagonist, Scarlet, was a Harley Quinn knock-off that made no sense. Literally voiced by Tara Strong. The game content itself was pretty sweet.

Dungeons are finished, user. There are no more planned. Which is good, fuck instanced content.

Well gee, fuck this shitty game then

£50

It's not playable because the developers were stupid and decided that the content should be available for only two weeks, then discarded forever.
It had some cool elements (marionette was an interesting idea, if a bit poorly executed) but overall was bogged down by the "story" and "plot" which were terrible, is the conclusion to the story arc of two lesbians who are lesbians.

If there aren't any more dungeons, what else will they add? Why are people still playing? Event quests are good but they are not enough to save Gw2. I really liked the idea in the beginning, but after a while you start to notice the copy/paste template nature of them (kill boss, kill animals to collect object, collect heavy object and avoid animals, ect.).
I'm not a huge fan of instanced content either, but it seems like most of the content that requires you to be conscious and think is locked behind an instance.

Dungeons were repetitive, but they were good money and arah was pretty fun challenge (especially with a new group). But good luck getting anyone to play arah p4 with you any more, tokens are all that matter now unless you want some title thingy. I can see how people wouldn't like it (roleplayers, dumb people, rude dudebros and their girlfriends playing 'for fun'), but that's not a reason to leave it broken and take away the money.

Tequatl was pretty cool in the beginning, however after a year of nerfs (I suppose) and better tactics, he basically became a guaranteed win. All you have to do is join the right instance.
Wurm was (and still is) a nice event that requires lots of people and teamwork, however this means it can only be done with TTS and their teamspeak which kind of removes the whole point in making it a world event if you need to join one or two instances.
Normal world bosses are horribly under cooked and broken

Oh shit I only looked at your character hours before, you poor bastard. Only 1,327 hours until you become a gw2 master

Maybe if you bought the maximum overgoy edition.

no, it was not 20, not even the expansion was 20 at relese

they also added a fucking tranny to the game just to show how progressive they are

I still play it; elementalist is pretty fun.

White box with just the disc was £20 at Gamestation.

Someone fleeced you goy.

PvE isn't the only game mode. I'm always puzzled people seem to forget this. There's a lot of players in WvW and now PvP has a new map as well. Both modes have refined rewards too, making them profitable or at the very least useful. Dungeons are still good for money with the latest updates. They buffed the gold and tokens for all of them. The HoT maps are engaging enough and require some coordination unlike most core world bosses, so there's always player interest. Of course people learned Tequila and Wurm by heart at this point, but that's to be expected. The Shatterer revamp helped it for like a week before it was back to the same old routine.

The lesbians were shoved in your face. The tranny is a footnote you never have to notice. It's still degenerate, but not forced.

There's FireFall

Websites still talk about firefall though. Who doesnt love a sinking ship?

lotro is pretty dead
retarded devs never focused on the one part of the game that would keep it alive and give them success, the pvp.
I've ever seen a game degenerate like lotro pvp did, it was actually pretty decent raid vs raid back in the mines of moria xpack, but it went downhill fast.

...

That was a human tho silly, this is pony.

I will never forgive what they did to the Guild Wars name.
At least GW1 servers are still up.
I'd love to do a run with anons here, but I don't know how many we could gather, and I really don't want another general on the board for a mmo

It is possible, user. There has been one Urgoz run at least some time ago. It was fun.

NGE was the cancer that killed, but pre-CU was and still is golden.

The Old Republic isn't Galaxies, user.

Kill yourself horsefucker

I'd love to set things up once I have internet at the house. It just depends on how many we could rally for it.

I just want to relive the fun again.

there has only been a handful of MMOs that were good, but they were all ruined.

Ultima Online was turned into a bad Diablo Clone

Ragnarok Online was ruined by free to play and the "Renewal" patch.

Lineage 2 may still be an acceptable grinder, have fun finding anyone to play with though.

Guild Wars 1 is still good but no longer has active development. Also dead game, you'll be soloing the game with your AI party members.

The Secret World is ok for quests that are actually fun, problem solving and character customisation (gameplay-wise).

Archage was a meme
Blade Desert is a meme
Tree of Savior is a meme

World of Warcraft was never good.

No thanks, I still have some things to live for.

It's a little forced. The tranny dialogue is shoved into your chatbox which doesn't usually happen with ambient NPC dialogue. It also doesn't help that the character is standing right by the entrance to the Fractals hub.

It's not as forced as the LESBIANS plotline but it's still exerting effort to shove its dick in your face and is more egregious in its execution. Romance development between main NPCs is an understandable arc, even if it does come across as pandering. But the tranny shit just came out of fucking nowhere. It was pure virute signalling so Anet could go, "LOOK AT THE TOKEN TRANNY. PAY ATTENTION TO HOW PROGRESSIVE WE ARE"

I find that highly unlikely

its also a fantasy setting with supertech and magic. He could easily just genderswap instead of being a "transgender"

Disregard, I'm retarded

The only reason he posts horses is because you retards react to it.

this

anytime anyone complains about any post, you're going to get more of those kind of posts. I don't see how complainers think complaining will make a difference.

Meanwhile at the fields of Ascalon.

Those roleplayers add a certain ambiance to the game. I once ran into a naked female human dancing in the watermelon fields of Queensdale. When I asked her what she was roleplaying as, her response was, "a slut." She got the characterisation just right. It was so immersive.

not at relese

I bought it fully expecting something similar to GW1. I never really played it, but all the talk and features of it made it sound really cool, specifically the Mesmer.
Shit's gay.

You forgot to mention Runescape as a ruined MMO. Could be my nostalgia goggles though.

Do people still play Star Wars Galaxies?

they killed off City of Heroes in favor of GW2 so fuck 'em in the ear.

since we're on the topic, is there an f2p mmo where the combat isn't shit?

You'll love Wildstar check out this review.

When everyone used to hate them they couldn't post anywhere cause every single person would tell them to fuck off. I guess with your logic we just let underage and reddit users post all day and let this board get even more shit than it already is.

...

That's 361 days of straight gameplay with no breaks. What the fuck is wrong with you?

They deserve it for raping the game since release.

Fuck them. I quit like 2 years ago when the big September patch was released and they removed Human female idle animations (after they removed other animations/changed others, making the running one less feminine for example).

yeah aion

Wakfu killed Dofus. I along with all my friends got super hyped for Wakfu, and made the switch. It had only a few strong differences that werent in the wrong direction

i wish wildstar had more porn. and porn of things i like not those fucking chuhuehues

The biggest, most infuriating thing about GW2 that I absolutely could not bring myself to withstand was THE AMOUNT OF SHIT IT THROWS AT YOU

SERIOUSLY, I CAN'T EVEN LOG IN WITHOUT GETTING 15 BAGS OF GIBSMEDAT WELFARE TRASH

GOD FORBID YOU USE THE AH

JESUS HELP YOU IF YOU CRAFT

EXPLOSIONS THROWN ALL ACROSS YOUR SCREEN LIKE IT'S FUCKING WW3 EVERY TIME YOU DO ANYTHING

SOMETIMES EVEN WHEN YOU DON'T DO ANYTHING (like the little icon that flashes at the corner of your screen until you collect your login free shit)

How the fuck am I supposed to get even remotely immersed into another world when I can't go 3 seconds without "HERE, HAVE SOME FREE SHIT FOR PLAYING OUR GAME"

"ALERT! ALERT! YOU JUST LEVELED UP IN OUR GAME"

"CONGRATULATIONS! YOU'VE UNLOCKED THE NEXT PART OF THE SINGLE QUEST IN OUR GAME"

The fact that there's virtually no story whatsoever is a rant for another day.

And its been active recently too

Huh? It's one of the most popular mmorpgs out there. Definitely in the top3 of wow clones in terms of popularity

How about an mmo thats actually WORTH playing?

The Wakfu devteam recently came forward claiming they will be fixing the game and talking with the community more.

:^)

Didn't play the game, but how did they try to pander to the SJW crowd?
Have any good examples of their faggotry?

The game is made for mouthbreathers that don't play games: college students/grads looking for a hip and progressive MMO.

Hey, I'm not playing it right now.

...

I play to PvP a little and because I'm a furfag with a charr and plenty of degeneracy. It's a damn good beast race compared to most.

This, been working on the GWAMM I neglected to get while the majority still played. Only at 10 titles, though, and the easiest ones at that.

They really are a great beast race, and not just in sexual ways either.

I tried to play one of the more regular races as a female and I couldn't stand the boring-ass sissy animations. These guys are hardened killers and military commanders, and they run and stand like faggots and girls.

I miss the days when I played MMORPGs, but at the same time I'm glad I stopped.

Guild Wars 2 is doing perfectly fine, its plenty populated still.

Lots of people stopped because of the grindy nature of Heart of Thorns but they released a big patch that changed a lot of that stuff and plenty of people came back, the game is actually one of NCsoft's top moneymakers, you can look up the quarterly reports yourself if you don't believe me.

Furries muss raus.

Even in GW1 I tend to pop a Pyre tonic just to have an interesting model and animations for a while (and also because I can't afford an EL Kuunevang).

I really do enjoy learning about Charr culture a lot more than the others, but Asura definitely has some more interesting points than most. I can't find the will to give two shits about humans until we go to Palawa Joko Land or to the Imperial Cardboard Box, and big humans and snowflake salads aren't interesting in the slightest despite the potential having been there.

*mussen

RIP EB & gamestation

I paid about the £20 mark on release too.

...

This might be one of the only regrettable buys I ever had. I played for maybe an hour and a half and never touched it again. It was on my HDD for maybe a month and a half before I knew it was never going to be touched again.

I play SWGemu still. There are a couple thousand active people almost all day and development seems to be chugging along to re-implement everything pre shit patch.

Runescape had a great idea and it wasnt too bad when it came out.

The whole thing where you have this Wilderness where you can kill anyone or be killed by anyone open-world pvp zone was great and when i played it yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaars ago we frequently had massive 100vs100 pvp there yet you had this relatively relaxing pve-area to raise skills, fish lobsters and such shit so you could be even better prepared for the next time you go and hunt some scrubs in the wilderness.

And the whole, i think Rune ore or whatever it was called the thing you needed to mine to make runeplate mail and shit only being able to get from wilderness provided shit like guilds having to go there together with some guys mining and others making sure some fagot doesnt kill their miner and loot the ore or just flatout hiring bodyguards so you could go and mine in relative peace.

Since this thread is about MMOs, has anyone played Albion Online? If so is it good, shit, etc?

The biggest fault of this game is, that you are not forced to interact with other players in PVE. Automatic grouping, automatic quest, event and loot sharing took away the need to ever interact with anyone. Not even interacting through trading, because of the AH. No real group quests either, everyone just ran towards bunch of people and started killing, or everyone was silently waiting for the world boss to appear.

It was a singleplayer MMO.

And most "mmo"-devs cant even get that part right even though it's right there in the fucking term of the genre.

Bland doesn't begin to describe how bland it really was.

-All roles able to be conducted by anyone so to remove uniqueness
-The sheer lack of skills
-Bad itemisation
-Bad monsters
-Bad lore

GW2 had so much hype behind it because GW was actually pretty good. GW2 was like they nurtured the game and designed it for niggers who couldn't handle more than 4 skills and a single class.

I wish it was mediocre. It was damn right unfinished.
It didn't even have a epilogue and credits.

what content?

we should do a Deep run some time, those were great before the exodus

still damn good

only at 15 so far. Doing vanquishes, feels good seeing all the scenery and little secret areas

cunt indeed managed to ruin everything.
hopefully she will never get employed again, not for justice or venegance but for the sake of vidya gay mess

I'm too fucking lazy to finish off protector now that I've gotten all the guardians. Like fuck, I have to do 20 Proph missions and their bonuses. Doesn't matter much whether it's normal or hard mode, I'm not happy about it.

I have a feeling that finishing off Skill Hunter is probably going to be one of the funnest sections. Vanquishing can be cozy and all, but some areas are just disgusting, boring, or possibly both. Some of my least favorite areas in the game just boil down to Maguuma and Old Ascalon. (Though most every map in EotN is decent to great. All that experience payed off after 3 campaigns)

£20??? I wish, user.

I preordered that shit for $60 on Amazon because I loved the first GW.

The hyped lasted me about 150 gaming hours because I refused to accept the truth. Didn't touch it again since.

Could you please expand on the SJW shuttery? I think I left the game before that, because I didn't notice anything at release

I atleast take solace knowing I enjoyed GW1 in its hayday.

Probably because you don't like MMO's.
Guild Wars 1 is as much as an mmo as diablo 1 is with the exception of towns instead of a chat lobby.

Lol.

It wasn't an MMO because it's just a bunch of private instanced zones.

"meet me outside town"
is something that is impossible in guild wars.

A server is a private instance as well.

Thanks for playing, though.

The fact of the matter is that Guild Wars has only one kind of zone with other players: towns. If you walk outside town, the entire gameworld will be a private instance just for you. All the interesting possibilities for player encounters are gone. If you make a party of a few people, they will join your private instance.

It's a matchmaking hub for the diablo experience that the game offers. You can move your character around the town instead of using the battle.net chatroom in diablo. That's all it is.

Incorrect. Thanks for your uneducated opinion on what you believe an MMORPG to be, though.

I didnt play runescape for long, how was it ruined?

yeah they even advertised themselves as CORPG (Cooperative Online RPG). But all the games "journalists" kept calling it an MMO anyways.

By that reasoning, if you crammed a city in CoD instead of a lobby, it would've been an MMO, even if the rest of the game was very player limited.

You have to consider what MMO stands for.

GW was MMO in towns, everywhere else it was co-op or a limited match game.

Not saying it wasn't a great game, but it's not a proper MMO.

Guild Wars 2 was the last game I bought a physical copy of. I installed it and played it for 2 hours when it first came out, promptly uninstalled and never touched the box since. Every fucking day I look over at the box covered in dust and get the urge to just set it on fire.

15+ buttons, faggot, and they pushed degenerate bullshit because the head writer herself was a degenerate. It more or less stopped once she was sacked.

GW2 is one of the greatest disappointments and missed opportunities I've ever seen, but I still raid with my old guild in WvW a couple times per week. Large-scale fights are the only thing GW2 has ever done right, barring a few retarded changes that were reverted.

MapleStory

I haven't kept up with news for this game much in a few years. It's just depressing to see what happened to it.

Sorry user, but your feelings about the game doesn't make it true. Just because Holla Forums hates this game (Rightfully so, I might add) Doesn't mean you can go crying 'IT'S DEAD, JIM' all the time. This isn't even prime time, just a screenshot taking at fucking 5 in the fucking morning.

And before people point to me and say 'why are you playing that shit, user?' is because like most MMO's, you'll play the worst fucking shit because you've got good people to play with.

Just because GW2 is populated by shit-tier ERP faggots and furries doesn't mean it isn't dead. If people just use it like a 3d chatroom…

Ha. I remember Thor and SakuraMS. What a shitshow that was although I'm not sure he ever sold that shit.

Citation?

Nevermind I read the thread.

But hey, at least they sacked the sad pieces of shit. It's better than most.

Uh-huh. Seems like you are grasping at straws, fam-fam.

The armor-complaint is just bullshit, but the writing is pretty cringy time to time. And there seems to be careful 1:1 ratio of male-female characters, despite majority of them being military-types, but it's really hard to tell if it's actual egalitarian SJW-garbage or just the saturday morning cartoon "power of friendship overcomes all!".

Every other MMO is killing damage over time mechanics and it's driving me insane. Damage over time is one of my preferred methods of doing damage and NO ONE does it. I just don't get it.
I love applying so many DOT's to someone they slowly melt, then even if they kill me they die ten seconds later running around like a chicken with their head cut off. I can't find games that promote this, or even have a damage over time mechanic. It's so goddamn depressing.

I remember all the shilling on halfchan, how this was going to be a WoW killer.

Exactly the same as Red Orchestra 2 being a Battlefield killer.

They fixed necromancers? They were so useless during the first months that they were kicked from every party and non-WvWvW-thingy-pvp
