How the fuck is this still the best game ever made

How the fuck is this still the best game ever made.

Literally what the fuck are game designers doing? Holy shit.

I played it when I was 14.
I was unimpressed.

Boy this thread is shit on a whole lot of levels

It's not OP, but it is very well made.

you may want to play it with a more open mind now that you're 15

I could get into the Minish Cap, but OoT? Nah.

It's a good game. Stop pretending you didn't liked it when it came out.

It isn't the best game ever, but is still a good game. Stop being a hipster fuck.

I don't care about your awful taste, you're unjustifiable.

I didn't, because I didn't play it, because I didn't have an N64.
Bite me.

How the fuck is this still the best game ever made.

Literally what the fuck are game designers doing? Holy shit.

It's a decent game.
I enjoyed some of the game.

No way in hell is worthy of best game ever made.
Oh god no.

...

Nobody thinks it's the best besides nintendrones. It's just really friggen good. Not in gameplay or story sense but in world design.

They don't realize this peace is what all true warriors strive for. They're too busy wondering what gannon is up to.

Meant puzzles instead of story being shit.

Majora's Mask is a lot better. It's basically OOT with much deeper lore.

Well I'd say that it is not that easy to make games like that anymore.

First off all people can look up everything on the internet, they can make screenshots and ask other people for help easily. Back then it was not that easy. For example Link's Awakening had a library with codes in it. If you didn't wrote them down you had to walk all the way back to get the solution. You can't have that shit in current games anymore.

Now I know skyrim is a shit game, but it is the closest we come to zelda right now. Imagine in that game you are in a temple, and the temple wants you to enter a code to get to the boss, a code that was told to you in the first city. Would you leave that temple, walk all the way back, read it, write it down, then go all the way to the temple again, kill all the shitheads you already killed only to enter the code now? Because I can tell you that many people will just look up the answer on the internet.

It's these kind of things that ruin modern games.

Also it is way harder to make a big map now compared to back then. I mean just look at the maps in games like UT for example, those places were huge.

I think it's overrated. I don't mean to say that it is a bad game, but it is not as dark as people say it is.

Its not even close to the best game ever
Even on its own it has plenty of flaws

That's some shit taste right there

TP*

Agreed OP. People on this site seem not to like it :(((. I dont get why *sadfrog*, any time I have posted about this game being one of my favorites of all time, I get called names. Uhhhh sometimes I don't understand these people, i think they just like to hate popular things but watevzzzz

this IS my favorite game. I could play it right now and not be bored by it in the LEAST. I remember playing it literally every day as a kid LOL, gamer nerdz in the makingz amirite??. I was such a little nerd then, oh and I STILL am today too XD. I got the guide book and everything. Because I got stuck in the water temple, the one where you had to carry around that Zora Princess UHH was she rude much ???? typical girl >.< I still get angry thinking about that LEVEL ughhhhhhh, IM A GROWN MAN NOW STOP. I can still sing the songs of that game till this say from memory, I will find myself humming them sometimes at work, and people look at me like "Is that the Nicki Minaji songs ??" LOL, I'm just like "noperzzz, if only you people knew true music". And that is what makes this game good is its one of the classics and its not one of these violent shooters with blood and guts that all the kiddies like now a days. uhhhhh kids these days have no idea what they are missing. I mean like wow think about all the good games that being raised in the 90's gave us SO MANY CLASSICS. Kids these days will say Call of Duty, Gears of War, and Halo, pshhhhshhhawwww I say, I will tell you Legend of Zelda, Super Smash Brothers and Donkey Kong those are my games, something a kid like you could NEVER understand. I guess thats why games now are sooo stupidddd now, its because people didnt grow up with good ones so they like dumb ones, wow really sad if you think about it. Guess its a good thing emulators exist huh my fellow PC BROS *HIGH FIVE* *BRO FIST*, with the power of the PC, the classics will live FOREVER OP no need to worry ;)

Is this fresh?

Blame the le epic creepy pasta for Ben Drowned.

...

Nice pasta, saved

Looks like it.

Yeah, I don't really think open world suits Zelda games. I get what Hideo Kojima was going for, but having Link turning into a solid snake instead of a wolf was just a bad idea.

Played it when I was around 15 after i beat wind waker. Thought it was pretty good but wind waker was better.

then you have shit tastes

Good post.

I like this emem

Wrong image there OP.

Dubs thread?

I like it, but it's not the best game. I don't even think it's best Zelda. Plus you can't really quantify a "best game" when so many different genres and tastes exist. If you're someone who dislikes action-adventure titles like Zelda, then you wouldn't consider any of those games to be the best. Likewise if you dislike FPS games, you wouldn't agree with someone saying Quake, Half-Life, Serious Sam, or some other shooter is the best game ever made.

At best, you could say there are "best games", all of which are the best at satisfying a particular niche, but a singular "best game ever" is a ludicrous concept.

...

READ THE THREAD, NERD

Let me rephrase;

We had this same thread a while ago, just phrased differently. I still think about it sometimes because it was so fucking shitty.

Anyway, fuck off and checkem.

have you played it?

...

A lot of games?

deus ex isn't one of them

maybe if you posted thief or something you'd be on the right track

I respectfully disagree

I bet you can't even tell me which game is better between Faces of Evil or Wand of Gamelon.

Deus Ex has great writing and story, but it is hardly GOAT because its gameplay has much to wish for.

Sorry user, but you're looking at it with nostalgia goggles.

And this is coming from someone who really likes Deus Ex

Well that can't be right, because the gameplay is what makes it so good.

Also, I played it for the first time last year nigga, no nostalgia goggles here.

...

It's mostly that it gets a lot of dick-riding because it was setting the tone for a lot of general adventure-game concepts from then on like focus-on-an-enemy lock on and the like. Lorefags of the time sang its praises because it was the War of the Sages referred to in Link to the Past (except not really because half the shit mentioned in the War of the Sages didn't happen and the extent of Ganon's influence seemed to be a handful of isolated incidents and razing Castle Town) and what OoT did right it usually did pretty well.

Majora's Mask is better though and Wind Waker's a good sequel to it, better than Twilight Princess which nixed the fucking magic meter half-way through development since there's still green chus and green potions in the game's code. Hell, TPHD lets you obtain them normally but tells you green potions don't do anything.

...

yes, i remember having to dust off my N64 everytime someone mentions ocarina

...

...

it's a good game, but it isn't nearly as good as all the n64 nostalgia faggots build it up to be

if someone claims OoT to be the best game ever made, they likely first played it when they were 5 years old

...

yeah sure is great

I played it when I was 5 and know its not the greatest game

...

you misunderstood me (i think)
if you played it when you were 5 that doesn't mean you think it's the best game
but if you think it's the best game, you likely played it when you were 5

It was?

People believed that Majora's Mask was darker way before Ben drowned, don't be retarded.

I'm sort of surprised there isn't more action puzzling games around due to the formula for Zelda's success. Look at minecraft and the like; there's literally well over a dozen of those damn things sharing near identical formula, yet very few even strive to mimic one drop of a zelda game for some reason.

Both are pretty dark depending on what parts of the games you look at, there's a guard dying right in front of you in OoT if you check the alleyway before/after getting the ocarina from Zelda for instance. MM is definitely more overt about it though considering the entire theme of the game is Doomsday is coming.

I thought I'd seen it all.

...

this, no game has ever come close to deus ex's story writing, or level design.

oot is shit and op is a fag

I would say that id software could produce better levels from a gameplay standpoint, but deus ex was far better at making them feel like real places.

I just realized big boss in MGSV is based off Sean Bean. They look so alike.

But muh jora's mask

DAE THINK LE 90's ARE LE BEST GENERATION?????? UPVOTE IF YOU AGREE!!!

Don't worry OP, this game sits very nicely in the above average category but it hardly deserves 70% of all the praise it gets

That title belongs to MGS3.

best post in the thread

U fockin wot m8

I-is this hot and fresh pasta?

Even as a kojimafag, MGS3 was hardly the best in the series. Half of the game is dicking around with camo index. The classic MGS approach to outdoors stealth and survival is not the way to approach that shit.

...

It's not even the best Zelda game furfag

Best Zelda maybe (though I've never played the Oracles games or Zelda II a whole lot so I can't say if those are better). But it's certainly not the best game ever and never has been.

Majora's Mask is basically Ocarina of Time if someone wanted to make a shitty ROMhack with half the content and made it even easier.

I'm tempted to call this horrible bait because it is, but Holla Forums still falls for it every single time.

The 3D Zeldas are all boring and shit except for Windwaker.

>>>/reddit/

this is not bait, and before you reply yes I am fully aware of the vast amount of flaws it has.

answers I will also accept are Deus Ex, Morrowind, Quake 3, DMC3, DeS/BB, and Tetris.

You don't chan so good

I hate furries but he asked a legitimate question that was relevant to the thread

Nothing furries ask is legitimate

Wind waker is the best one, you're just blinded by nostalgia.

Morrowind is a great game but it absolutely is not better gameplay-wise than OoT. In terms of lore, story, game content and role-playing it blows OoT out of the fucking water, but OoT simply has better game design. They are both action-rpgs, so I think it's perfectly fair to compare the two.

DaS is pretty much 3D Zelda but with FAR better gameplay design, but lacking in pretty much everything else that made OoT/MM memorable. Boring story, boring music, complete combat focus gameplay with no puzzle elements.

this

If Wind Waker wasn't as easy as your mom it might have actually been good

...

For the kind of game it aims to be, it does just as well as OoT. Unless you're actually treating it as an action-game.
Morrowing is a CRPG.
OoT is action-adventure.
I can't fathom how you could consider either of them action-RPGs while the former has no emphasis on action mechanics in its interactions and the latter does not focus on any character building mechanics.
It's almost like dork souls is an actual action-RPG and doesn't need puzzle elements like an adventure/action-adventure game would.

Booooooooooooooooooooooooooo

...

I'll bite.

I got this on release, back in '98.
To this day I remain unimpressed even after all the hype that the game had built up for it.

Gameinformer and EGM made everyone believe this game would be incredible, beat every other game in history and have the greatest replay value of anything ever to be released.
Once released, I was rather underwhelmed. Mario 64 felt more "alive" to me than Zelda ever did, or even has to this day.

In fact, Twilight Princess was an all around better game than Ocarina of Time, in every way. Yes, it was a bit emo. It was also a bit "furry", but at least it nailed the gameplay and environments.

Listen here, you dirty slut. You can't just come here, post your lame ass bait and just leave all willy nilly like some sort of OP variant.

You better cough up the rest of the porn on that thing or else!

Kill yourself, Arin.

...

I'm not even OP, but you're wrong. Plenty, no, most normalfags would answer with this as the best game ever. And, most normalfags aren't obsessed enough to be called nintendrones.
It's what someone who doesn't even play games anymore would answer with as the best game ever.

This is some quality shitposting.

That's a funny way to spell Deus Ex, user but even then the point still stands

It was good in that people haven't done better since.

Is this Papa Johns?

How the fuck is this still the best game ever made.

Literally what the fuck are game designers doing? Holy shit.

my melanin enriched brother

Okami may not be the best game ever but its my favorite for sure

Thief sucks ass. I'm tired of you fags going around in every thread that Deus Ex is mentioned and going on and on about how much better Thief is.

Majoras Mask was better.
**But that's not saying much because Zelda games are overrated mediocre games at best, piles of absolute dog shit at worst.Midna still best girl tho.**

Well, you tried.

What the fuck am I looking at.

If Majora's Mask's bosses weren't all complete fucking pushovers outside Gyorg the game would have been better than OoT.

Those times are not sarcastic, that is the legitimate amount of time it takes.

inb4
Eat a dick. The boss should be very difficult without it, like fighting Gyorg without the Zora mask. Having it be "piss easy mode" is terrible gameplay design.

...

Look I'm not saying that DaS1's story is amazing but it is far better than the generic inconsistent crap in OoT. It also had a consistently reinforced theme (you can't delay the inevitable) which any proper story should have, and which OoT completely lacked. One claim I absolutely will make is that DaS had fantastic music that is absolutely on par with OoT. Of course it's very different, so someone more into one or the other's style might like that one significantly more. I personally prefer that of DaS, embed related. Whether you like the song or not, I think you'd have a pretty difficult time saying that anything in OoT is "objectively better" than it because it is clearly very well made.

And lacking puzzles and minigames does not make a game any worse than another, those are just forms of gameplay just as the combat is. Though I don't mean to say that DaS is a minimalist game, an exaggerated version of your claim would be saying that Shadow of the Colossus is a bad game because it doesn't have sidequests and character customization. Those can be good things in certain contexts, but adding everything possible to a single game is not necessarily a good thing.

Also I forgot to mention, calling Morrowind an "action rpg" just shows that you have only played Oblivion and Skyrim. Something like 99% of your time in Morrowind is spent outside of combat, and further I wouldn't call OoT an action RPG either because it has very little action and almost no "RPG" elements. Can you make your own character? Can you define this character in your own way through how you interact with the world? Are there even stats to give a shit about? OoT is not an RPG, it is an adventure game with some puzzles and action combat. Control schemes do not determine genre, the shit you actually spend time doing in games determines their genre.

What kind of standards are you guys using when calling something an Action RPG anyways? I remember when it came out it was billed as Action Adventure and the N64 only has 4 legit RPG games 1 of them causing purist butthurt. With LoT and Majora's Mask being considered a separate genre all together.

If the focus of the game is on fighting dudes and building your character with items or stats then it's an action RPG. Souls games are ARPGs, Diablo and its clones are ARPGs, post-MW Bethesda games are ARPGS (arguably not Oblivion but I think it is), LoZ games are not.

I just checked and I made a mistake, N64 has 7 RPGs one is a RTS in combat mechanics and other is similar to FFX-II turn based combat mechanics and causes purist butthurt. Two of them are Japan only.

But the selection of games for Action RPG by your definition there is only 1.

*God damn it I forgot the pic.

So did anyone manage to find porn of this thing?

I sank over 300 hours into Morrowind before I ever even played Oblivion faggot. Also, that music is not particularly great or memorable, probably because almost every other track in DaS sounds just like it.

Dark Souls may be one of my favourite all time games but the music does not even compare to Koji Kondo's.

You cannot be serious. DaS' gameplay mechanics are so self contradicting with the game's universe it's not even funny.

PORN WHEN?!

game would have been a lot better if the dungeons had different or just better music. something even links awakening could manage.
i dont get it, the game had beautiful music at times but the fucking dungeons had repetitive garbage.

Something something tower of babel allusions

Pretty sure most normal fags would consider their game of choice (halo, call of duty, etc) the best game ever. The only people I've seen call oot the best game ever are 90s kids and nintendrones.

...

There are only 2 types of people who think this:
1) People who played it as a kid and their nostalgia makes them see it like the best game ever.
2) Normalfags/Gamer girls that never even played the game, but like to think they are Zelda fans for nerd cred.

The game is actually pretty good. But is certainly not the best game ever made. There are far better games than this. A link to the past is an example.
