HAHAHAHA my sides left orbit

Do you know other games with "subtle" messages?

Wow, extremely problematic.Sega Smash Pack had instructions on disc for hackers, revealing emulation capability with the DC.
To whomever releases this pack..Let me give you a few bits of info:- I emulate a U.S. Genesis, including territory lock-out.- ".sga" files are standard Genesis/Megadrive ".bin" files renamed.- The emulator is looking for some parameters to be passed via Ginsu. If you don't know what that is, you'll figure it out:MDE_US.BIN ALTBEAST.SGA MODE2 SKIP0 SOUND0MODE0 = standard, fastest video mode settingsMODE1 = slower, supports some extra featuresMODE2 = slowest, includes window layers (used by some games)MODE4 = same as MODE0 with background skewingSKIP0 = no sprite skipping until maximum reachedSKIP1 = moderate sprite skipping, used to prevent major slowdownSKIP2 = maximum sprites skippedSOUND0 = standard sound emulationSOUND1 = sound tempo increasedAnd don't forget to pay your respects to Uncle Sonic.Sony just doesn't get it. - Gary

TCRF is one of my favourite websites. Here's a nice rant:

tcrf.net/The_New_Tetris

********************START MARTIST RANT**************************I must say, this was a fun time coming down to San Francisco to do The New Tetris. Allthough there were a few problems. First of all being our producer.. D*N, my god.. is this guy useless or what?? I don't hate you D*N.. but you SUCK, and I mean SUCK as a producer. You should go back to testing video games, but I doubt you could even manage that properly. I feel sorry for you. During this project you just sat around and played video games.. starcraft and everquest. Don't even deny that.. when you WERE working, it was making stupid Excel (tm) spreadsheets to try and tell me how many bugs I had left to fix on a graph.. like WTF is that??? who cares.. I have the bug list in front of me, like I need to see it in freaking technicolor. So D*N, I must say this.. hold onto, and fake your job while you can, because once they find out how truely useless you are, you will be out of a job. I cannot think of any skillset you would fit into in this industry, so you better hold on tight. (This guy thought I could save a name in 8.4 BITS.. like umm.. .4 BITS?? WTF is .4 BITS?? its either ON or OFF, not in between... anyhow, Enough about you though. To Nintendo.. It has been nice working with you.. Alot of you are great or were great. Tom 'Snoop Dog' Hertzog - you were great.. one of the nicest people I have ever met at Nintendo. You and your crews bug testing was outstanding and I commend you for the excellent work. Erich Waas - You know we have been friends a long time, but I must say this. After you had accepted the ART form for The New Tetris, and later on your higher ups said it was not UNISEX enough, you slapped the blame on H2O, Chris Bretz in particular. You did not have the balls to accept blame for your mistake, and stuck our entire team under IMMENSE stress and FRENZY. This to save your A$$ from getting in trouble at Nintendo. I still like you Erich, which is more than I can say for the rest of the team that you screwed because of this. But I guess your standing at Nintendo is more important than the friendships you had here. You always knew we had telent and you recognized that. I know you wanted to work with us again one day maybe outside of Nintendo, I think you screwed up those chances though. While I am screaming.. I might as well say this: Niel Voss.. your music is freaking KICK A$$.. you are one really damn talented boy. BUT, you are one of the laziest music guys I think there is :) You could go far if you wanted to, but you just lack the GO for it. It is a shame. I wish you all the luck and would reccomend you to ANYBODY just because even though everything is last minute, and like pulling teeth, the end result is AMAZING.

Part 2

I am leaving H2O after this project to work at 3DO. I hope this will be a good move for me. I love H2O, As amazingly disorganized of a company it is. I LOVE the people, I have so many good friends there. It will be hard to move on. Of course they will stay my friends. They were more than just co-workers.. they were FRIENDS. They were the people I lived with, spent my days and nights with.. went to bars with, camped with, drank with (alot), did other bad things with (wont elaborate :)). They are true great friends, and I love them all and will miss them dearly. Allthough Vancouver is only a 2 hour flight away, I hope I can visit often. My best friends would include. Ross, Max, Scott, Jake, Bretz, Roland, Johnny, Sarah.. these are the people I love the most. And I wish you success. My 4.5 years at H2O were basically, making games.. drinking alot, playing pool alot, going to bars and raves and dancing while really screwed up in the head. THAT HAS TO BE THE MOST FUN I HAVE EVER HAD, and probably ever will. The good old days. These guys are in Vancouver right now because I got stuck finishing this project in San Francisco (Which by all means I LOVE and am staying (hence 3DO))Well boys and girls, I just thought I would immortalize some thoughts I have at the moment into a rom which will be burned forever. This game sucks. The music is great but the game itself is not how we wanted it unfortunately. I mean, it is a good game, but some things could be polished, as well as sped up. Could use another month to finish this thing off AFTER all the bugs are fixed. oh well, woh is me.I would love to give special loves and kisses to the following. My Girlfriend Amy Bond, My Family (Joy, Allyson, Jon Pridie, Brant Sangster), My really really best old friends Selim Arikan, Cory Haberly, Jason Vasilash, Alfred Huger, Oliver Friedrichs.Goodbye H2O, it was a blast, and I mean that with all my heart.(C) 1999 July 1 David Pridie If you are reading this, you can obviously see this disclaimer. All this material belongs to David Pridie. If you find it and want to post it in ANY media format, you must get my permission or feel my wrath :). This text if it is ever read, is intended to be read by hackers whom have dumped the contents of this rom and viewed it. That is ALL it is for. And maybe some of them will remember me from the C64 and PC days, Martial Artist of PE/TDT/RAZOR 1911/INC/FLT/TRN/FBR, I was in them all.. and I made trainers and intros mostly. I thank that scene for teaching me how to program, because without it I don't think I would be where I am today.Well that does it 4.5 years and Two games later (Tetrisphere and New Tetris). Unfortunately I wont be working on Nomans Quest.. but oh well. HAPPY CANADA DAY.*****************************END MARTIAL ARTIST RANT ********************

was this guy anyone important or just a random employee?

Why would a bunch of Japanese people hide this British diatribe into the game?

david pridie
apparently he was a programmer who was a member of groups like razor1911 and flt back in the 1990's, he also worked for 3D0
he died in 2001 of a fatal asthma attack while playing vidya

Lead programmer of the game.

Yukio Kaneda's hidden rant.

Programmers should do this often, especially for anti-liberal reasons.

What did he mean by this?

Wish I knew.

He probably would have fit in here.

Hope he got another job after they went under.

He died.

The Stellaris devs included a subtle reference to Overwatch, the Pacifist ethic symbol is the Overwatch symbol with an extra line cleverly added to disguise it.

I'm kidding of course since it's a fucking peace sign, but that's what some illiterate autist on the Stellaris wiki thought and it stayed up for quite a while.

tcrf.net/Pachi_Com_(NES)
Rant from a pachinko game.

Britan is too cucked for any of this to ever happen.

And of course, the one comment:
float Q_rsqrt( float number ){ long i; float x2, y; const float threehalfs = 1.5F; x2 = number * 0.5F; y = number; i = * ( long * ) &y; // evil floating point bit level hacking i = 0x5f3759df - ( i >> 1 ); // what the fuck? y = * ( float * ) &i; y = y * ( threehalfs - ( x2 * y * y ) ); // 1st iteration// y = y * ( threehalfs - ( x2 * y * y ) ); // 2nd iteration, this can be removed return y;}

You can just search for "nsfw" on TCRF and get gold, really.

Go to Hell, Carolina!

You do know that pretty much anything can emulate anything right?

You don't understand the importabce of that message, idiot.

anybody have the one where the guy rants about last-minute changes and some office lady coming in smelling like sex?

So?
Only a filthy enduser would be impressed by the fact a machine can emulate another or that any company would use emulation over porting to commercially rerelease things for that matter.

That's not the point, you gibbering negro scientist. It was toward the end of the DC's life and they were basically gifted a fully functioning emulator.

So impressive., literally would take any competent dev less than a couple month considering they have access to the official doc.

Shut the hell up, you are autistic as they come.

Get off Holla Forums. You make even the idiots at Holla Forums look bad.

Holy shit, you sound like a massive faggot. Fucking kill yourself.

user please.

Goddamn.

...

People are easily impressed I guess.

That is one hell of a long list

Damn, it cuts off

Here's your (you)

What?

Is this not a troll?
Are you really this fucking stupid?
Do you really fucking think someone made a Genesis emulator for the Dreamcast before?
Do you really not understand the importance of a built in emulator for Genesis on the Dreamcast made by Sega themselves?
Did you think good Genesis emulators existed all the time? Do you actually think emulation is such a trivial matter when people are STILL trying to get the best emulation accuracy on the NES?
People this fucking stupid shouldn't be allowed to vote or have any weight in any decision whatsoever.

It means gook

Gee, nigger. Wonder why I told you why then. Are you on hormone treatment because you make absolutley off mark counterpoints like a daffy cunt.

if you run an Asians persons head with a tank tread it leaves a zipper like mark on them

That's some serious mad

"Mmm, that's a nostalgic song playing. Those were good times. Meanwhile, who the hell are these people with this project? I'm so glad it's over. You think it's nothing but good memories? Hell no! Let's use this space to give out some thanks.

First off, Kaoru Ogura, who ran off with some guy in the middle of the project. Yes, you, you bastard. Don't show up at the office without showering after having sex 6 times the previous night. Next, Tatsuya Ōhashi. Yes, you, you bastard. Don't give me your flippant shit — coming in late on the day we ship the ROM like nothing's amiss. You can give me all the porn you want; I'm not forgetting that one. All that fucking weight you put on. No wonder you paid out 18,000 yen and still got nothing but a kiss out of it. Kenji Takano, Namco debugger. You are a part-timer; don't dick around with the project planner. And finally, Kiyoharu Gotō, the biggest thorn to my side in this project. Yes, you, you bastard. Once I get a time machine, I’m sending you back to the Edo period. Go do your riddles over there.

Ahh, that's a load off… wait, no it's not. Kiyoharu Gotō — yes, you, you bastard. Aaaagh, just disappear already.

Come to think of it, some people were helpful to me, too. Mr. Okada, who took all the good stuff. I know all about your abnormal tendencies. Yamagishi, who swore off soaplands until the project was over. Go ahead, knock yourself out now. Iwata, who joined in midway and gave it all he had. Sorry I yelled at you. Keep hanging in there. Fujimura, Udopyu, you probably had it the worst of all. Thanks. I mean it. Gotō's the one to hate here. Also, Takayama, Kudō, Suzuki, Makki, Kaneko, Aihara, Sato (the angel of my heart), Iga. Thanks, everyone.
Yoko-G, good work. This game is dedicated to your wife's birthday."

After doing step 7:

"Kazumushi, I'm sorry I couldn't come back home much. I love you and always have. Hidemushi"

...

I've heard about this guy before back in Holla Forums, is he a good fella, or is he an SJW?

...

je suis monté

Larry Bundy? He seems like a cool dude, honestly, if he is an sjw, then he's one of the most subtle ones i've seen.

He's certainly not a lefty, he says some offensive stuff sometimes. I like him

...

I remember seeing word-filter from Nintendo. It contains such horrible things such as Russian words for "pancake" and "fool", and it also has racial slurs for Ukrainians, but no racial slurs for Russians.

Are there any videos of people actually getting high off of that shit?

It's a myth

...

No, he's very anti-SJW. He's just subtle about it. I found him in the comments of IA's old videos.

the skullgirls rant is 1000x less endearing than any of the 90's rants, the tumblr style ranting is just obnoxious rather than loveable like the chain-smoking programmer rants

in fact it's kinda pathetic because they knew one day they'd be on those "Secret dev rant" pages

fuckin losers

No but several emulator for several more complex system exist for the very same console and in fact before 2001 for bleem.

Irrelevant, an emulator isn't impressive because it runs on a specific system especially since the sega smash pack emulator is a modified version of Kgen unless it does so with an exceptional level of performance or accurac, the DC is way more than capable of emulating Gen/MD correctly even if you don't have an extremly optimized emulator, as a matter of fact NEO4ALL exists and emulates the NEOGEO with an exceptionally high degree of accuracy (rivaling MAME at the time it was released despite MAME needing hardware several times more powerful) for something that runs on DC, by default a console will do better than a PC at emulating with similar hardware because it doesn't have to deal with an OS and all the shit that comes with it.

It's the first time a company emulated their own console commercially I guess, not that big of an achievement when you consider all the factors, especially the genesis not being that hard to emulate nor heavily reliant on accurate emulation to work and the DC being one of the easier console to program for.

The amateur emulation scene around 2000 with the exception of the N64 one was pretty bad, didn't stop emulators of the time from being correct for what they were and what they ran on, genesis was one of the better emulated console of the time as a matter of fact.
Now as for "good" emulators it mostly depends on what you mean by good, if you mean "it plays games I like" then it's a complicated question but I don't remember running into many big name games that didn't boot on Dgen back in 2001-2002 (in fact it wouldn't surprise me all the game in the sega smash pack run on Genescyst/Kgen which are repectively from 1997 and 1998 and that the sega smash pack emulator is based off Kgen ).
If you mean 100% compatibility then it still isn't a thing although GGPX claims it's capable of it (which is likely but nobody bothered trying to disprove it for now)
And if you mean cycle accuracy it still isn't one either but exodus is getting there.

Emulation isn't anywhere near as impressive as people make it out to be, especially when you consider that emulators are made by hobbyist, meaning that what you have currently are what people made in their spare time with limited resources, someone trying to make the same thing as a job will take far less time and have far better results obviously just look at CEMU or Drastic.
Also, cycle accuracy for NES has been a thing for more than a few years now and the only thing left to improve is mapper support (mostly affect bootleg cart and hardware right now) and improvement over the original hardware (namely emulating an OC'ed NES CPU properly)
Lastly pursuing accuracy in emulation will always eventually becomes pointless because there's always more you can do to be accurate to the real hardware at the cost of extreme performance drawbacks, just try DICE and witness the full glory of having your 2016 computer struggle to get more than 30 fps out of pong and it's not like it's an isolated case either as byuu stated multiple times that he would need a CPU 3 times faster in single core performance than the best currently available CPU to simply emulate one single chip at any significant higher level of accuracy than what higan currently does (and not to mention that it wouldn't affect anything you could see as a player).

So once again getting Gen/MD running correctly on a DC when you have that much resources is not that impressive not to mention it's based of Kgen which, something like bleem on the other hand is when you consider what they did and what they had to do it.

tcrf.net/Ganso_Saiyuuki

Jesus, just fuck off sperglord.

...

Dave passed away very suddenly on the morning of Friday, January 12, 2001. He died in his home, listening to music and playing a computer game. An attack of bronchial asthma was established as the cause, something which he had complained of the past week or so before.

He was 29.

bretz.ca/dave/index.htm

So you concede on this point.

Even CS undergrads could argue this point to you. Not all hardware is the same, achieving the same results on a different system is not always trivial.

The PC version is the one that used Kgen you fucking idiot, we're talking about Dreamcast here. How do you fail at basic reading comprehension like this?

Yep. Thank you.

Again, you keep on conceding me on the points. Aside from the fact you type walls of texts, I fail to see the point of this response. Not only are you admitting emulators weren't perfect, but you keep mention Dgen in 2001 when this game came out in 1999.

You don't need humongous amounts of resources to make an emulator, just dedication. Your "paid salary man > hobbyist" logic is honestly laughable. It could probably make sense if we were talking about the presentation of the final product or things that don't involve programming directly, but money is not a magical thing that makes people smarter. Code out there can be worked on, even in collaboration with other people, independently of whether they get paid. They'll take a longer amount of time to develop than if it was a full time job but it can be successful. I don't see how this point means it's "not impressive".

That Hobbit one is gold.

$5 says he was a lolicon.

He's trolling you, filter it and stop responding.

tcrf.net/Kirikou

Because there wasn't any way for hobbyist to bring homebrew at that time so obviously it's gonna be hard to code for something when you have no idea of how it works, it's not any more impressive than any other things that runs on the system.

They had the rights to use and modify Kgen for their use on the PC and later on they wanted the same thing for the DC, so it's obvious that they at the very least looked at how Kgen did things since they had source access because they had the rights to modify it, my bad should have said "based off " not "modified version of"

I fail to see how that's impressive it's neither the first emulator nor the first commercial emulator and it certainly doesn't do any justice to the capabilities of the DC, it running on DC isn't impressive either since the console is more than adequately powerful to run genesis games especially with the level of accuracy it has (and in fact has been bested since), now something like the Dream Passport 3 is impressive because it was basically the modern day Virtual Console but in the early 2000's, something like bleem is impressive because the performance gap between a PS1 and DC is very low when you're talking emulation and it also rendered games with an increased internal resolution something that hasn't been seen elsewhere until the PS2 classics on PS4 which is a whole 15 years later.

Yes emulators weren't and still aren't perfect which also applies to the official ones, also only the PC version released in 1999 the DC version only released in 2001 (which in turn doesn't matter because I also mentioned Kgen and Genecyst which both released far before any of the official sega emulator), I also refer to your previous comment "How do you fail at basic reading comprehension like this?"

No but it does mean you can work full time and not in your spare time, meaning something that would take an hobbyist years will likely take months to people who get paid to work full time on something, and by resources I also include other people you can rely on for simpler but more time consuming tasks and documentation, you don't get that as an hobbyist, especially not back when those emulator were relevant

Several other project achieved a similar results on less powerful to similarly powerful hardware, the only difference is the system they run on, but the dreamcast isn't the most difficult system to work with and in fact is probably easier to work with emulation wise than a full fledged x86 machine with an OS.

This is some ZSNES apologist tier denial.

Digging the DiGi Charat fanart.

THIS

I was reading some other rants, but this in Skullgirls is the worst of them.
I don't understand why those people like short sentences filled with "fuck, shit, piss…" and the overuse of the word LITERALLY (like some are already using in this thread).
