PSP Thread

It's that time again. What're ya emulatin'? Did chartanon ever finish his recommended games list?

Also, does anyone have any experience using one of these dual adapters? Are they worth a purchase, and if so from what maker? Or am I just better off getting a single big-ass micro SD? All the reviews I've seen are mixed, but I'd trust my local rabbi before I trust any user reviews.

The original Photofast CR5400 adapters are great. They aren't made anymore, so any you do find now are clones, some good, most bad. The common trait they all have is that you need to use two of the exact same SD cards for good reliability, and format them in the PSP before use.

I personally just bought a 16GB MS Duo for cheap, used. To make sure you don't get a fake MS Duo, check to see if it supports MagicGate in the settings.

...

I see. Any decent ones you could recommend? It's not really that big of a deal if I buy one and it turns out to be shit since they're like 5-10 bucks, but I hate wasting money. Really, I just want to use these micro SDs I've got without having to carry around a memory card case or anything like that. Also, most of the adapters say that you can't go over 32GB combined. Will it fuck anything up if I do or will it just be less effective?

What th' fuck're ya doin', boi?

I use some Sanoxy adapter and have two 32GB micro sd's in them, adding up to 64GB. No problems. I've heard the official Sony limit is something like 64GB but the technical hardware limit is 2TB so…

I don't like emulating anything other than PS1 on my PSP. That's what PCs are for.

PSP can do up to genesis very well. emulation on the go > emulation at a computer.

Even then, past SNES, it's not really worth emulating in many cases.

Not yet; still needs more anons to help with input on the revision (this isn't one I'm doing from scratch). Considering the old version of this was last updated some years back, I've been working on trying to update it with missing stuff, particularly since the system is now pretty much done release/localization wise and fan translations have gotten more prevalent than they were at the time. Could still use some help from various anons to write blurbs for worthwhile stuff that's still missing, and maybe extend some existing ones that seem a bit too short at this font size (the older one didn't have a standard size).

Was thinking of Suikoden I and II soon, if eboots for playing on the PSP count as that.

Since I don't have money for EDF 4.1, I'm just playing EDF on my PSP.

I'm such a fucking idiot.

At least PSPs are fairly cheap. Also, you might be able to find some low-use 3000 models still, considering that as late as a few years back, Target was still carrying unused ones.

Busy right now but I might be able to help with it later

How is it? I remember I tried downloading one of them for the PSP (2 I think?) but there was something wrong with it that just made me say fuck it. Can't remember if it was the controls or the framerate or what though

At least now you can text your mom :^)

Cool, thanks. Might not respond until tomorrow about anything though if you do post some blurbs later; feeling pretty tired right now.

To mourn the death of Metroid, I've decided to play a good Metroid game. Currently playing Zero Mission, pretty fast too. My current time is somewhere around 2 and a half hours and I'm close to the end.

I just got a cheapass one off Amazon, both me and my roommate got one for like a dollar each. I put 2x64gb in mine and he put 2x32gb in his. Works pretty well, my only problem is that when I boot up, or bring it out of sleep after a while it will hang for a good 5-10 seconds. Not sure if it's because of the sheer amount of data it's trying to access, or that the cheap ass adapter just has a really slow read speed.

You'd be better off buying one of those custom handheld machines meant for emulation. They look pretty neat, but I've heard build quality is kind of dodgy on a lot of them.

Not sure why you posted that in response to me, but you planning on trying a low pickup "hard mode" run of ZM?

Also, I have a regular 32 GB stick in my PSP, and there is some notable slowdown in the XMB when it's trying pull in tabs for various games. When I go to play stuff though it's just fine once loaded.

Both are very valid reasons.

Recommendin' Darkstalkers Chronicle: The Chaos Tower, shit is dope and lewd yo.

Bought a new PSP 3000 a few weeks ago, haven't tried emulators yet.

Any emulator recommendations for 6.61?

Dual adapters tend to go to shit pretty fast and they can even permanently damage your PSP memory slot(specially with 2000 models) so i would recommend to stick with a single 32GB.

Oh and don't believe the kike "10 class SD is better for PSP" meme, class 4 is cheaper and enough for PSP's.

Like 99% of adapters out there are just chink clones, in fact i don't think i have ever seen legit adapters.

If you want actual brand quality your only choice is to buy expensive official pro duo cards from lexxar or sandisk.

Woops. Meant to reply to OP.

But yeah I like the idea of it, but I don't think I'd actually pull it off, because I'm not the best at some of the bosses. I might try it, but it would need more practice. Considering that runs can be sub 1 hour fairly easily, I don't think it'd be that time consuming to practice.

What I'm more interested in is faster routing for a 100% run. It always blows me away when I see stuff like the WR being 1:10:54 for 100% normal

...

As far as I know, emulators don't really differ between firmware versions. This is the site I use for my emulators.

I'm pretty sure there's an addon you can get that you can apply to certain games to swap O and X for games with fan translations like that.

How do I use dlc and/or cheats for jp disgaea 2 on ppsspp?

Sheeeeeeit, where was this when I paid $100 for 8 gigs when the PSP was still relevant?

Should I bother making a PSP imports chart? The PSP was pretty crazy about getting nip only games, but many of them were anime tie in VNs.
I personally really liked the raildex fighting game and it makes me sad that I never got to play it multiplayer because a friendless NEET faggot.

Might be a worthwhile idea if you've got a lot of experience with games that wound up being Japan only, as what's on is mostly (if not all) western made, localized, or fan translated. Though you might want to take a note from this older set of graphics someone once made or moon only PS1 games and list off the level of moonspeak difficulty to be able to enjoy them.

These are some of the weirdest games i've ever seen.

Sure. I can even offer some input being an importer.

those are my only issues with the PSP, otherwise it's fucking great.

I have an iso copy of the School Days UMD-PG if you want it.

Sure, I'm sure there are some folks who want it too

Here to recommend Coded Arms.

Close to being one of my favorite games on the PSP, if only for the multiplayer. Used to play it with friends back in high-school. Good times. Sadly the controls are terrible since the PSP only has one analog. You aim using X, O, etc, which gets pretty bad at times. The autoaim is huge, though. Makes it tolerable.

I should finish Brandish.

Bump for the user who promised the iso

As far as I know, the only one that's gotten a fan translation since that was made is Echo Night 2.

You better deliver.

It's still uploading since I have terrible Australian internet.
Due to the delay, I will also upload the Summer Days UMD-PG.

Check the used / flea market or craigslist if you're uno americano. This is from my local public used goods store page: psp 3004. 50€. Three shitty games thrown in as a bonus. FIFA 11, Cars, Sims 2

Bump due to only 1 hour being left until my upload is complete.

What brand of PSP case is that?

I have the 2nd or 3rd version of the original PSP, it's a great toilet system.
Have a lot of roms on it and favorite PS1 titles.

As promised, here is the School Days UMD-PG iso:

I'll probably upload the UMD-PG of the sequel Summer Days in a share thread during the coming week.

I wasnt the only one who played this game. I loved it too, even bought the sequel(which sucked compared to it). Too bad it's in pachinko hell with the rest of Konami IPs.

So I'm running into some weird problems with psp emulation. I've done the whole play with the settings thing and see what will work and some games still play in this weird broken way (too much speed on certain things too little on some).

What drives me nuts is some of the games play absolutely perfectly. But a game like blitz the league has so many weird speed issues I can't turn around and play it properly.

I know its still in active development, so the compatiblity lists are crap. But can anyone turn around and give me some tips? What settings to throttle up or down to make games play their best?

Also an up to date comtablity list would really help me out, but my looking for that's had some issues so I won't blame you guys.

many thanks

Anyone know if Blade Dancer: Lineage of Light is worthwhile? Was skimming through games on the PSN earlier and noticed it. Not that I'm thinking of buying it (between Pirate Station and NISA not deserving money), but is it any good?

Wasn't on the original and no one had brought it up yet. Write me a brief description and I'll make a tab later.

The Summer Days UMD-PG .iso's surprising uploaded quickly, so here they are:

again thanks
do you remember the source where you took them from?

I love you user

How the fuck do you do diagonal inputs on the d-pad? I am shocked this isn't a bigger problem for most people.
Although considering the USD load time on the game i'm guessing most people just gave up on the game.

I have absolutely no clue on the source, I've probably had these files for many years now from when I attempted to compile games developed by 0verflow.

Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together

Reminder that Chaos Denam did nothing wrong and Catiua a shit

I just do it, i don't really have any problems using the d-pad for fightans.

For what purpose? just play your ISO's straight from the memory card and you will never have to worry about long loading times again.

1. Dark-stalkers came out significantly before CFW.

2. I was simply saying that the incredibly long load times for the game killed it's mainstream playerbace. Seriously they are without a doubt the worst load times on the psp.

How bad exactly? I know the PSP had some notable issues at times when it came to UMDs and loading, but to my knowledge there was a bit of a range to how bad they could get.

Biggest problem wasn't so much the length of the loads but more the frequency. before and after every fight..ect.

Ah. Yeah, I can get that. Looking at a PS1 game I was playing as an eboot on my PSP a while back, I had heard how annoying the loading was from the discs back in the day, namely due to the sheer frequency of it (any spell or item used in combat despawns everything but the caster/user and target, and then it has to reload everything back in once the spell/item animation is finished). I'd already found a cheap copy sometime beforehand (at like 1/4th the price it had been going for) and decided to compare the difference. Playing it as an eboot reduced the actual time spent loading to somewhere in the range of 1/2 to 1/4 of what it was from the discs (I'd have to actually record to check how much exactly, but it was really noticeable).

A bit of context - UMD-PG "games" are actually just UMD videos that use the video player's menu system for interactivity. It's a clever loophole that allowed companies to publish explicit VNs on the PSP. They were more expensive, cumbersome (it came on 3 UMDs!), and had less features than the cheaper PC versions, so they are rare.

There used to be an Android app that let you hook up your Wii controller via Bluetooth for games, but it looks like it got pulled a while ago. Are there any decent substitutes?

I'm so sick of using those touchscreen controls for PPSSPP, I need a physical controller in my hand, but I don't want to have to spend money on some cheesy third-party controller if I can help it.

What's that game? I hope not the VN. I already have 電撃文庫 FIGHTING CLIMAX, just need to burn it and hack my PS3.

Needs more indexes, categories, and L.O.S.S.
Where's the pdf, xml, JSON, CSV, markdown, excel? What heuristics where used to determine difficulty?

At first, we need colours&/symbols for each:
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_video_game_genres

I will be using gitgud.io to host the document-chart.

Looks like kadokawa did more games not on missing from those lists:

Export -> as PNG -> upload and done.

also, ipfs&magnet links when?

buy 2?

lol, I was just thinking about you. When are you going to IPFS hash?

I am more surprised that they even ported it to PSP, knowing full well the DRM schemes. Any chance the lewds are somewhere? I don't like or plan to play a VN again, but would support just 'cause the art. I commission shit anyways.

Get any compatible USB or bluetooth controller for your android highly rated?

The Wii can die, please.

read

they have the lewds, user.

PS4 controller. It's just plain Bluetooth. You can even buy these faggy holders to combine the two.

I'm playing the PSP ports of Way of the Samurai 1 and 2 on my 3000, just started with 1 and this game is a blast. Way ahead of its time. They are fully fan translated, this translation is too good, they must be based on the PS2 english script.

Oh shit nigger, I didn't know Way Of The Samurai 2 was also ported to the PSP. I played the Yakuza spin-offs that had Samurais a while back and now I'm in the mood for some Samurai flick games.

Could add gungnir it's a good game

wow. didn't knew they existed. downlaoding them right now

can you please make a little description for it?

Read what?

any place where i can get those dual adaptors without getting scammed off my ass? sure single slot adapters are also good but still..

also: can anyone make a list of games that require you to have some space free?(SFA3MAX needs like less than 2gb to be able to save a game and Gundam Battle Tactics won't save if you got less than 4gb free)

Make a description for it and I will.

Yeah, as far as I've heard they're more or less script rips, though I suppose any added content would have had to be fan translated from scratch.

These UMDPG versions actually have the full sex scenes. Sony didn't let companies release porn games on the PSP, but they did allow porn UMD videos.
These companies converted their porn games into UMD videos as a workaround, so they could release on PSP.

Also, if anybody's interested, vgmtoolbox can convert the weird UMD video .MPS format into raw h264/atrac streams.

I remember being a bit surprised to see on a download site that the PSP apparently saw a UMD release of KxKxK.
