WHY IS THIS GAME SO INHERENTLY FLAWED

Being shit at a game does not make the game inherently flawed, shitlord

Farm in normal for a few hours and then a few more on hard and you are ready to go.

If the formula is the same then its either red ant only stages, beach hector stage and some sole monster introductions.

Online makes it harder to farm in some cases since monsters get at least twice the hp, and you don't really want to do that unless you have proper equipment.

The moment you get a proper drop you'll know why this is the way it is.

Take it from someone who lucked out on struggling through some of the earlier stages on Inferno to get some good drops while I was only halfway through the game on normal, it is better this way to prevent you getting too OP too quickly.

OP to the point of finishing the final boss in only a couple of Lysander shots.

My favorite is the beach mission with all the robots. The only pissy thing about it is the robots have a tendency to back up when they take too much damage and this could mean drops falling into water too deep for you to reach them.
There's a later mission in a city, I think it's actually called Giant Robots which is similar but more difficult since you're surrounded and have fewer teammates

no, some of the guys ive seen have 100k plus. however there is an armor limit per level. for example on normal, depending on how high the mission, you will have an armor limit. infact even most inferno matches have a limit. however high missions on inferno have the limit removed.

but if you get 70% completion, you can remove weapon/armor limits in a lobby.

this is required for some very difficult missions.

im currently at 79% completion. i need to beat the last 5 levels on hardest, and then play through on inferno with each class for a 100%

The issue is the lack of SSE4.1 support so yeah you're good.

Might be fixed soon if they just used the default compiler optimization, might not be fixed soon (or at all) if it's handmade optimization and even if they change back in that case the performance hit will probably be noticeable.

I have an AMD Phenom CPU and it crashes every time in the loading screen of the first mission. I've read the threads and notice this is a common problem.

The game is mission-based, so you can start it up and just play one mission if you wanted.

Along with the weapon and armor grind and the 4 classes, there's a lot of content to keep you busy. Good port as well, haven't gone below 50 fps so far. The only problem I've encountered is some fuckiness when the game's in fullscreen, but I like playing my games windowed anyway so it's all good

Am I missing something on this game. So few controls on the keyboard, was this game made to be playing on a controller? I can't even access most of the chat options, all I have is the quick chat and if I push T, I can see the options but no way to access them, it just give mes the chat windows. Also, what is this about using air strikes, I've been looking at the controls but I see nothing but the basic controls.

You can use the arrow keys to navigate all the chat options, can be kind of annoying because it will appear in online lobbies if you try and use the arrow keys to navigate the menu.
Only air raiders can call air strikes, you just have to switch weapon to the smoke grenade that calls it in.

One of the devs from D3 was answering questions on the Steam discussions a few days before it was released, you can check there to see if they may have said anything about it. Doubt it, though, unfortunately

The game has an armor and weapon level limit for missions, so you don't cheese missions with overpowered gear. I believe you can unlock the limits by getting enough game completion, though.

I had the same problem, seems like the weapons with low ammo capacity just want you to park your ass on top of a building because you won't have enough energy to fly and reload at the same time.
You'll find more weapons with large ammo capacity later on that you can fly and shoot with at the same time.

This game is so fucking good

Whenever people have problems with games because of hardware its ALWAYS AMD.

There are always a few trails of thought on this.

First is because the niggers at novidya pull some dodgy shit and throw money to fuck over their competitors.

The second is because of a certain way AMD does code or something (I forget exactly what its called SS something) that some people just dont get.

I will say Nvidia would be the top dog on this hardware market making amd second so I would guess that there always would be some issues with the runner up since they dont have the time or money to be able to throw at the technology.

But AMD is still pretty good for the money and does perform almost as well as the leading competitor. Im no hardware/software engineer but I would say that its because people dont know how to program for this company's hardware as well as nvidia's. I guess nvidia has a simpler code?

If that were true this wouldn't always be a problem with AMD hardware. Seriously every time I hear about hardware problems with games it is always AMD.

Well the hardware runs fine. Its people not knowing how to program well for those cards. Its more of the game dev side than AMDs side. It would be like getting upset at xbox for madcats.

Whether its on AMDs side or the game developers side if you pick AMD you're likely to run into issues with newly released games.
The issue is that you picked AMD regardless of whos fault it is that theres a problem.

Ok I might just be a scrub or something but how in the loving fuck do you deal with hectors in later missions? They have insane HP, sprint at you so fast that no class other than the Wing Diver has any chance at evading, and have autoaim weapons that either instakill or near-instakill you. What the fuck? On mission 38 right now and no matter what I do, I just get blitzed by Hectors and killed instantly.

Just don't bother, the only good one i've seen is the sniper variant and that's just so you can shoot transports and air units. Just throw an artillary strike in the enemies general direction then call down a vehicle and use that until you have recharged both the artillary and vehicle drop flares. The Depth walker and Vegalta are my favourites so far.

What class are you playing? I loved going through that mission as a Wing Diver with two lances

What class are you playing as? Hector swarms work a bit differently to insect swarms and you need to start gunning them down from afar before they get close and start stunlocking you with their knockback guns.
If you are playing as Fencer then try the Gallic heavy cannon, it's not as good against swarms because it's recoil stuns you for so long but it's great for sniping hectors and transports.
Ranger should try any of the rocket launchers like the stingray for sniping them and then swap to an assault rifle when they get close.
I'm not sure about wing diver as I haven't played her much yet.
Air raider can snipe with the limpet sniper if you have it otherwise i'd recommend using a low cooldown air strike like the flying fortress assault cannons and a Vegalta. Vegalta when you can then use air strikes while waiting for another one to drop.

If the mission you are talking about is the one I think it is then you need to keep strafing the map and collecting the other squads for more firepower. Try to back up into some of the backstreets when you get swarmed as they usually won't all follow you in there.

You get much better gear on hard than you would if you played normal, so after you got over the hump of level 1 on hard you probably got gear that was good enough to beat the rest of the hard missions without as much difficulty.

And yeah mission 13 is just overwhelming, its supposed to be.
You're supposed to simply not die until they send in homing missiles from off the map that automatically kills them all one by one.

the starting weapons are just not good enough to get you going on hard from start so you need to drop some

the whole weapon drop system is kinda fucked, you only get the good weapons after beating missions and difficulties where you would need them the most. without grinding or cooping you'll be stuck with low tier armory for quite a while

If I try sniping the hectors, I get swarmed and killed by red ants as the other hectors spam plasma mortars.

If I try killing the swarms, more just spawn infinitely and I die via attrition because the enemy has transport ships along with the constant hector mortar fire.

If I try to shoot down the transport ships, I get instakilled by the hectors guarding them.

If I try to kill the hectors, return to the beginning of this post. I've tried this mission numerous times as both a Ranger and Fencer, and it's just not fucking possible with any of the weapons I have. I've managed to get weapons that can deal with the hectors much more reliably, but LOL NOPE WEAPON LIMIT.

There has to be a fucking weapon at level 11 or less for the Ranger or Fencer that can effectively deal with Hectors. This shit is incredibly frustrating, and is seriously hurting my desire to play the game. A damage-sponge that can move very quickly and kill you near instantly is the antithesis of fun.

hectors are easy as a fencer. You just dash cancel away from them and then take out a hand cannon and fire away

The Limpet Canaster and the Limpet Spliter A30 are god tier, the sniper is pretty shit honestly.

weapons are different enough if they're not straight upgrades like normal assault rifle weapons, sometimes a weapon with 20-30 lower level is more profitable to use than high powered weapon that lacks the gimmick that makes the less powerful weapon better or has another one that makes it too annoying to use

HOW TO YARR HARR EDF WITH OTHER PEOPLE

1) Download this shit

2)Extract it all on your EDF4.1 folder, replace steam_api64.dll
3)Open SmartSteamEmu, and drag EDF41.exe onto it, make sure that "Status of steam_api.dll" makres steam_api64.dll as verified.
4)Type "410320" into Game App Id, then press save.
5) Go to File > Settings, set SteamID to "PersonaName" and Name to whatever you want to be displayed as to other people. Hit save and you're done setting up. Right click on EDF's icon if you want to make a shortcut without needing to open SSE.
6) Start the game and go into the online mode and after a minute lobbies should appear. You can also use Shift+Tab to use invites and what not. Some lobbies work and some others don't, not sure what the deal is, but you're not actually paying for the game so don't complain. It works perfectly in-game.

If you want even less chance of getting a new weapon. There is of course a limit of when to go for weapon boxes, if you take 10 minutes to walk all over the map to collect 4 you might as well have played another mission and grabbed more in less time

Its a combination of the difficulty level and the mission.
You'll get to a point in the earlier missions if you're just playing normal where theres nothing new to get.
After getting no new weapons for 5 missions in a row on normal I did some earlier missions on hard and every weapon I got was new.

(I have no idea if it exactly applies to 4.1 too, but since it has the same guns and missions as 2025 I can't imagine it's too different)

as you can see, playing low difficulties will net you guarranted trash weapons while higher difficulties will increase chance for good weapons but they will also drop shit weapons

for example hardest difficulty on early levels gives you a chance for weapons found on the last levels of hard difficulty, but you'll probably need several playthroughs of one misssion to drop something interesting

heli is way too slow and bees are 2fast4u, they will tear your helicopter apart in seconds unless you use the trolltactic of putting sentries on top of your heli and then blow yourself up after taking down a few guys

spear + javelin launcher

use the 2nd skill of the spear which is either bound to space or left shit. hold down the fire button for the javelin

it will auto cancel for you at the fastest speed and you will fly

basically you get away from the enemy then turn around and use some artillery on them. also kiting seems to be good.

middlemouse button by default is how you use the mechs jetpack which makes it a bit faster

You can use other weapons for that too. iirc there is a weapon called the Javelin that shoots spikes in an arc, that can also be used to boost cancel (I'm pretty sure that is the fastest way to boost cancel too but it's been a while)

Boost dash with melee weapon. Then use the secondary ability of a shield. Then you can boost again without having to wait for the boost animation to end. I think you can boost cancel with anything that has a secondary effect that isn't a boost or zoom in. I haven't played EDF 4 in a while though so I may be remembering wrong.

What's causing this? I've been trying to fix this for a while.

I always keep boost cancelling with me, because it's great for picking up health/armor/weapons and evading attacks. I usually don't miss the other two weapons, unless I screwed up and don't have weapons with long enough range. Plus you do still have a perfectly functional melee weapon

Also, the minimum specs say a 7870, but my GPU died and I'm using my old 7770. I cranked the res down a tad and turned off and turned down anisotropic filtering, the game's giving me at least a constant 60. At least in the early levels.
