Depends. Do you have any examples for such works with a definite message? If so, which?
Generally it can be seen as containing a critique of the spectacle and late-stage capitalism, but it mostly has a neutral evil view on technology and the individual.
I think that an obsessive fixation on vague aesthetics can be a way for hedonism and/or idealism.
