In the first trilogy the reveal comes from the fact that no-one knows Anakin Skywalker is Darth Vader.
Anakin betrayed the jedis and went to the dark side, Anakin and Obiwan fought (crippling Vader). He himself largely embracing his new identity as the Emperor apprentice in the process, being "more machine than men". I don't think it's ever made clear he knew he got a girl pregnant!
He decided to split the twins (arguable decision, but then if one get caught only one get caught might have been the reasoning, even without entering the force sensation BS) gave Leia to the Organa (literal royalty of a planet with major political clout in the senate, at the time basically the safest place in the universe) and Luke to his remaining family in the armpit of the universe with him nearby checking in on him once in a while, probably knowing it's the last place Vader will ever come looking, it's made pretty clear his brother and him aren't on good terms. They were friends, it's logical he might be privy to that. The whole theme of tatoine is "Luke is bored, he want to go to the imperial academy and become a pilot, while his uncle is a farmer wanting to have more hands on the farm", then Kenobi mentions the war how his uncle (and presumably his father) disapproved already when Anakin signed up to go fight in the clone wars. The movie therefore strongly implies that Anakin, like Luke, couldn't wait to GTFO and that the family farm is the last place in the universe he will come back.

It's not great writing but it works, it's consistent and there is no real break of the internal logic.
