Looking for a good and concise history/run-down of the alt-right, particularly pointing out how it's basically a continuation of the ideology of reactionaries in Weimar (the same ideology that gave reactionaries false notions about "cultural marxism.") Any videos and/or articles you could point me in the direction of?

Basically, there once was a white man with a little bit of asian and latino in him. He loved everybody, and was generally an all around nice guy. He went to church, voted republican, and enjoyed hanging with his friends Abdul and Pajeet.

But then, one day, a black lesbian woman cut him off on the interstate and made him miss his exit, and ever since then he's been a raging sexist, racist and homophobe.

This is more or less a synopsis and case study of every whiny 'muh white nation' alt righter there is.

What do you think drives Holla Forumstards? Economics?

(but remember, memes aren't an ideology)

They are fucking degenerate pagans.

You don't believe in materialism?

That's complete bullshit. You nationalist Europeans turn against each other, and have always done so.

Europe is incredibly small and look how many countries, languages and cultures it has.

It's a complete joke and this shit leads to imperialism.

...

There really isn't much material, the journals American Renaissance was launched in 1990, Alternative Right in 2010, The Right Stuff in 2012, The Daily Stormer in 2013. Milo Yannopulous who wrote what CNN called an alt right manifesto, linked in a post above, joined Breitbart in 2015 and wrote the thing this year.

Nick Land may have written stuff dating back to 1992 (The Thirst for Annihilation) if not even as early as 1987 (Fanged Noumena), but his Dark Enlightenment starts in 2013.

As far I can see, the alt-right is an entirely 21st Century phenomenon, it has no formal organization, is not a movement, has no set political strategy, and has no coherently shared set of ideas beyond a seemingly universal and generic distaste for mainstream (center-)right wing and conservative movements, mainstream media, illegal immigration and political correctness; things that by themselves are not able to define the alt-right nor can be said to be exclusive to it.

I find attempts at tracing it back to Right Hegelians, the American Old Right, the French Nouvelle Droite, or even the stuff in Weimar you mentioned to be vain for the above reasons, and because it is essentially born from the internet rather than pre-existent, offline, non-meme obsessed political movements and philosophies.

Another reason is that not everyone of them reads their Nietzsche, Bataille, Evola or even Hitler himself.

All this heterogeneity and lack of an orthodoxy confuses opposing journalists as well, so if I link one the alt right is the greatest threat to progressive movements, and if I link another they're memesters who are not serious about it, it's just that memes allow them an other way to express ordinary conservative beliefs.

not exactly alt right but this is good

The perception that their way of life is dying.

Which in the case of Trump voters living in rural areas it may not be entirely groundless.

I hate linking to this particular website but I think the writer is onto something:

What about the parallels to the Japanese netouyou phenomenon?

I think it can be traced back to the H.L. Mencken Club, Pat Buchanan, Steve Sailer, et al. but that's about it (though Pat Buchanan is certainly responsible for bringing the "cultural marxism" meme to American shores). It seems to be a strictly American phenomenon, but it certainly has its analogues in Europe.

It is very interesting that the netouyou showed up around 2013 as well, but I do believe the netouyou happen to have a very obviously traceable link to extant ideologies: anti-Korean hatred and post-WW2 Japanese nationalism.

Japan's pride was basically annihilated with the two nukes, the emperor's Declaration of Humanity, and the subsequent American occupation with MacArthur.

It's a "memetic wound" that continues to recur in their artwork and just will not heal, they continue to perceive themselves as innocent victims, prisoners robbed of a fighting chance, who got their way of life and freedom stolen from cultural and military imperialists.

It's as if it was the Westerners' fault that Japan had this tendency to attack its neighbours repeatedly. Yes, we did give them guns and Jesus, but still. See Space Battleship Yamato where the bad guys destroying the earth are space Germans and the all-Japanese heroes undergo a life-preserving humanitarian mission to save the planet

Nope, the alt-right isn't an American-only phenomenon.

The userbase of Holla Forums is not entirely from the USA, for example, and there are some journalists that mentioned that the US alt-right resembles European far righters more than your traditional American ones.

The internet makes far righters able to talk to one another better than previous media allowed them to, they are not isolated, and you can very obviously see that there is a parallel with actual parties, for example Le Pen in France, Lega Nord in Italy, Brexiters, etc. talking to one another, admiring Trump and so on and so on.

Not that guy, but I'd argue that the Net Uyoku are nothing more than fairly run-of-the-mill Japanese nationalists. They aren't even that much at odds with some of the more right-wing elements of the country's perennially ruling party.

Netouyo are much older than that; they started gaining notoriety in the early 2000s and are arguably as old as 2channel-style imageboards.

Top kek. This is truly the age where the memes come to life.

White-nationalist turns out to have a bad case of yellow fever.

If that's the case, that makes it easier to think the internet racists in Japan as not-too-alternative right wingers.

Japan seems to be a far more racist country overall than anything we have in Western Europe. Lots of bitter rivalries in East Asia in general, too.

alright let me drop the info on you.
The alt right are basically right wing traditionalists arm chair intellectuals with no leadership or organization located on the internet, the internet has allowed far right thinkers like julius evola, René Guénon, joseph de maistre, etc, new life, you could easily find some pdf or wiki article or website about them if you are some right wing nerd.

The alt right were scapegoated by the media as trump followers, before that they were just nerds posting anime and right wing thought on image boards, then you have Hillary Clinton talking about nazi cartoon frogs.

The whole thing is a right wing reaction against globalism, neo conservatives, "cuckservatives", liberals, the idpol sjw movement.

Its a synthesis of far right thought, chan culture, and bored trolls who are subversive to the liberal mainstream.

There were many an article from some liberal reeeeeing about the alt right making racism cool, when really its just the culture these guys grew up with, anonymous, we are legion, dont take the internet too seriously, trolling.

Another thing, is traditionalism and fascism are different things, the nazis wanted to burn everything to the ground and build a new order, tradition is tradition.
Very few grasp this.

The alt right have been so successful that commies and lefty pol are jelly that they have revived right wing thought in the 21st century while Marxism is languishing under some wall in Berlin somewhere and capitalism is masquerading as liberalism since the end of the cold war, warping liberals into good little authoritarian global capitalists.

People say white guys have yellow fever, but its more like asian girls have white fever.

thats because "alt-right" isnt an actual thing you imbeciles

It isn't according to some writers, it is according to others:

UNLESS ITS ATLAS SHURGGED

This is a good description. Alt-right has no political substance, and should not be given the dignity of being an enemy. It's a subculture in the form of a meme. They might want to be serious, but they're not capable of that because they're too absorbed by the Internet culture like Holla Forums. While the other right-wing Americans are what they have always been.
There's hardly any use for them to actually read, especially not Nietzsche and Bataille, they instead want an appearance of having intellectual foundations so they will take a few statements out of context and turn them into memes, which is all they need.

European "alt-right" is quite different, the young memers don't play such an important role. It is more of a conservative far-right made of the anxious and resentful middle class, young and old equally. It is politically and practically more serious (e.g. having political parties, burning refugee centers), although still ultimately a joke that may poison and divide the society but won't actually change the political system. Something to distract us from the liberal technocrats.

Because a cultural movement. That is how they have been influential, and now are a national talking point, Holla Forums abandons culture that's why liberals always won.

I suppose all the "MOTHER EUROPA" tards are actually burgers that think Europe is kinda like the states.
A unified European culture is as big of a lie as the Holy Roman Empire being holy, roman, or a empire.

The creator of this chart forgot books in the major opposition section.

I love the implication that Trumpists/alt-rightists read. Too funny.

Wondrous stuff

Nor is it not.

Also thanks for bumping this shit thread.

PRAISE HOXHA

Alt right is basically Holla Forums and a few intellectuals in academia who are mainly against globalism, the expanding role of institutions such as the EU and very skeptical of immigrations and its benefits.

That's all there is to it there is no big organization or institution. A lot of people agree with points that they make because they make sense from a civilian perspective. Globalisation the way it currently works mostly benefits bigger organisations. The EU does little to help medium and smaller sized organizations get the same benefits the bigger organizations get from globalisation.

What I'm trying to say with that is that it's very easy making very good points against typical policies leftwing politicians make when in charge that often undermine lower and middle class income or social mobility.
