Those changes for DVa and Zen were sorely needed, though. Especially for Zen. The guy has zero mobility or defense to speak of, he's a fucking sitting duck, and for SOME REASON Blizz thought giving him the health of a zippy little mosquito who can get out of practically any engagement was a good idea. Tracer has the speed and mobility to make up for being so fragile, Zen doesn't.

Surprising to see they removed the damage from the explosion for DVa against herself, but I suppose it's Blizz realizing her ult is to make the roaches scatter, not actually get any kills. Using the ult is to clear a point, having Dva take no damage makes sense in that regards so she can do it herself rather than relying on teammates waiting nearby.

She can basically use her barrier at-will. Pull it up for half a second to eat a big shot or an ult, go back to shooting and still pull it up again a second later when the enemy starts shooting her again.

Imagine if genji's reflect had a 1 second cooldown and could be canceled at any time? D.Va's doesn't throw shit back at the enemy, but it deletes shots (including ults) from far enough away to shield allies as well.

Ever notice how at lower ranks, the easiest way to win games is to just pick a killer and waste the other team, but at higher ranks you actually need teamwork?

Blizzard patches usually drop on Tuesdays, but as for which Tuesday your guess is as good as mine. Some people think they'll wait until the end of the competitive season to do anything major which means the changes to existing characters might come out sooner but the new character not for a while but I don't think they give that much of a shit about messing with things in the middle of the first season.

The changes sound good, stopping hero stacking is great to see. I'm tired of complaints that a character is too strong when there's two of them and then seeing patches try to fix that. Characters should be balanced by how they handle solo.

Roadhog is a nice character. Playing at higher tick rate is even better. His ult is useful.

While it seems overpriced, the Apex expansion from what videos have showed, adds new mechanics such as the Thermal Vision, and new interesting and unique weapons like the underbarrel 50 cal and other nice little tacticool stuff.

90+% kill participation isn't too ridiculous, especially on characters with a shotgun spread, I get high (though not that good) participation with D.Va. How do you counter his ult if you don't have a stun or way to cancel damage for several seconds?

Maybe I should've clarified. It's 90% kill participation, when they're all solo kills. People are figuring out that flanking is ULTRA effective against teams who aren't using mic chat. So you end up getting reapers who literally spawn camp, and because nobody communicates he ends up getting away with it the whole game. Tracer and Genji can both be solo'd but reaper will kill you even if you're a tank. Then he'll heal himself of your dead body.

Also, i've literally seen a guy get 100% kill participation as reaper before. I've been saying Reaper is OP since the game released. Nobody seems to understand the symptoms of being too strong though. Perhaps McCree being as oppressive as he was, people didn't notice Reaper.

Well the reason I said he was a poorly designed character, is because his skills don't work well together.

I know these characters are here for a reason and can be really effective, but they're often just not fun to play.

But saying he is poorly designed i'd say yeah kind of. he and zarya have the highest recovery shield and I know zenyatta can be bursted so easily i'd say his only flaw is his shitty health and harmony orb, because of recovery shield and health he is very easy to kill without even trying. the harmony orb and ult seem a bit redundant though, adding an op heal and a pretty much inefficient heal seems counter productive.

so are these dva changes really going to make her decent? i think the main issue with her is her laughable damage contribution. about the only time she feels useful is when shes covering allies with defense matrix and this is just further pushing her down that road when i think she needs more impact in other areas, mostly in her ability to deal damage. the ult changes look great though.

thats about how i feel, sometimes ill come across enemy teams with 2 meis and its always a huge cakewalk because their damage suffers so much. her potential utility is great and all but at the end of the day you need to find a way for your team to have more hitpoints than your enemy. what really blows is the 2 people shes meant to be a counter 2 are in practically no danger due to their high mobility compared to her short range. i think the best way for her to be useful is to isolate healers from their target, but often the wall is so thick that you just cannot.
its hard to say if more than 12 players in a match would make her a safer pick. on one hand you wouldnt be losing as much damage, on the other it would be easier to just drill through the ice walls although maybe not since maps would have surely been designed differently.

I don't agree with their decision but this is the rationale they've provided. They might change their mind considering they took a similar stance with hero limits saying "We won't implement hero limits. Just git gud, scrub." and yet here we are today.

Double Zarya is awesome. Takes skill and coordination, works really well, but isn't so OP that it can't be beaten by a well coordinated team. If anything double Zarya is the poster child for why multiples should stay.

As for the others, ANY double is good in the right situation. Even shit like double hanzo or double symmetra has its place. It's really the core of compositional strategy. Take out doubles and every team is a bland mix with no particular strengths or weaknesses. They all play the same leading to stagnation.

Why is Indian Pharah such a qt

I slept on it for a couple days and decided to take a chance on this despite the inordinate price. I'm pleasantly surprised, shit's actually pretty fun. I've only done the practice map and a couple of AI matches so far, and I've been satisfied with what I've played, and I'm looking forward to playing some actual matches later. It's not Quake-fast, so walking back after dying is sometimes frustrating, but in-combat speed feels good and the pace of the game is fast enough that I don't even notice the lack of skill-based movement once I get in a firefight.
I've only played D.Va so far because I'm a meme loving fuck, but I'd like to try Tracer and Genji once I figure out what the best way to use them is. She's pretty fun, though, I'm glad she's not just a dank meme and is actually pretty accessible and fun to play.

After self-destructing and forgetting to get the fuck out of the way and letting the bots get out of the way so it did nothing, yeah, it'll be an appreciable change. Not that the current patch won't force me to git gud and not be a stupid asshole about it, but I'll still appreciate it quite a bit.

The self destruct buff is miniscule. The Barrier buff is like reinhardt and zarya combined.

Tracer and Genji are flanking characters. Tracer has a dash that she can perform 3 times in a row, each dash having a cooldown of 2 or so seconds. Genji's dash deals damage to anything he goes through, and said dash is instantly refreshed of its cooldown if you get eliminations(Not just kills, but eliminations, so assists count too). Tracer's ult is nice for getting high damage kills on points or on priority targets though its explosion radius and toss distance is small, while Genji's ult is good for wiping teams but you temporarily lose the usage of your shuriken while it's active. Bastion is the only character you can readily use Genji's deflect offensively against, while otherwise you should treat as an escape mechanism. Deflect also works on Roadhog hooks and melee attacks

Both are countered by characters like Winston and Symmetra. Their guns, and Symmetra's and Torbjorn's turrets will always hit you within range, with the former slowing you down while firing.

It's a AAA release by Blizzard that was heavily hyped by normalfags and has many core flaws. So you have contrarians shitting on it for appealing to normalfags, people who dislike Blizzard shitting on it, and people who play competitive shooters shitting on it because it is too flawed to ever be truly competitive.

I guess I can see why people would have those criticisms, it is a flawed game, but this isn't 4/v/, you'd think they would just not post in the thread if they don't like the game. Except the anti-Blizzard people, I get why they'd want to shit up Blizzard threads.

I hugely disagree. It's too short as an effective escape mechanism - if you don't have your dash up, your escape is very unlikely. It's an offensive tool and makes him a huge counter to certain burst damage characters.

I'm pretty experienced with Genji and let me tell you, that shit is really effective, especially if the enemy's grouped up (helpful in a zarya ult). Plus it makes him a hard counter to so many ults it's not funny, I regularly reflect 2 mcree ults in a game with mcrees, and you can screw over pharahs and reapers with it.

Going close-range against junkrats and pharahs and reflecting chucks their reflexive shots back at them for 120 damage, and you can run in the middle of teamfights to reflect the enemy team's DPS right back at them, and you can save people really effectively - dashing in front of someone getting hooked by roadhog, and reflecting that back at him for half his health. Mcrees, soldiers, hanzos, even widows panic-firing in close range are fodder for reflect kills

It's also super effective against Tracers.

What fucking comp games are you playing? I never see any Meis, and only ever see Hanzos in quick play.

I got a bunch of levels playing some matches, but I don't feel like I earned any of them beacuse I don't feel like I've been getting much better than I was when I started. The jump in difficulty between AI and actual players isn't surprising, but it is an adjustment. I probably should've just jumped in rather than giving myself a false impression. You guys weren't kidding about being frustrated about the emphasis placed on teamwork, there have been a bunch of times where I wished my team could back me up more, but I was warned about that too. There's nothing I'm really surprised by, I just feel like I've got some really bad growing pains to go through.
I've seen some other people playing support, on my side and the other, but I tried playing Mercy in a particularly bad game where people were requesting healers and I fucking sucked at it. Is there a better support character that's easier to grok and that can defend themselves better, or do I just need to put more time in?
All I've got is a toaster with a Broadwell Celeron. I can't believe the game runs as well as it does. It looks like a fucking 360p Youtube video, but it runs smooth enough to play, albeit at a cinematic framerate. I had a single incident of the framerate dropping to zero and having to come back up, but other than that, I've been pleasantly surprised. Blizzard tends to do a good job at optimizing games for shitting computers in the past, but I wasn't sure if the game was new enough to be unplayable on my toastmaker.

Mercy is literally the worst healer for a beginner and a solo player, she's entirely reliant on teammates for positioning and escape and has to commit to not being able to attack in order to heal. Use Lucio instead, he heals everyone around him passively and can do all his moving and shooting at will, he's probably the easiest character in the entire game to use effectively.

play roadhog, just focus on landing that hook for now. the rest should fall in to place
