What is the most absolute biggest pile of bullshit you've ever been taught about socialism/communism in school?

What is the most absolute biggest pile of bullshit you've ever been taught about socialism/communism in school?
are some of my favorites

My high-school history teacher was a master of cold-war propaganda.

...

Rebel had a long drunk sperg rant against Marx in his drunk video.
He starting to worry me

That Communism is by definition centrally planned and authoritarian.

A soldier once came to visit us in school in 6th grade to tell us that we should be grateful we live in America because in Germany you couldn't drink a lot of water because of calcium deposits and that Germans could only have 2 T.V.s in the house.

This kind of nationalism is fucked up.

This was in High School Econ

it's just sad. Individuality can't exist without private property? how brainwashed can you be?

They didn't go into how communism killed 100 trillion people, I'd actually never even heard that bit of propaganda until I became a commie myself.

Could have been worse, I guess.

my high school history teacher:
this wasn't even the case in the USSR, different jobs were compensated differently

I got fed the exact same line of bullshit about equal wages in high school. Then those same people use that argument to justify massive CEO paychecks because muh fair compensation.

We should all become teachers and spread the good word in schools

I had an entire thread full of them.

That was basically what it was.

I'm talking about the shitty argumens saying 'gomunism is gubbermand' btw.

He just really hates materialism because he's spooked

Daily reminder he's all over Austrian econ and Post-Keynesianism (i.e. third way neoliberalism) these days.

I asked my year 9 history teacher what communism was
Oh. Why is that a bad thing?
Oh. I guess that's bad

Hard to say. Probably the mysticism used to promote capitalism.

I believe it's actually required to say it'll never work.

...

My high school economic teacher literally recited the "professor teaches students why socialism is bad by averaging their grades" copypasta to us as actual evidence that socialism is impossible

So I downloaded this app called "We the people" which is basically just an election app (It has maps of who supports which candidate, news updates, direct feeds to relevant social media, and a forum). I'll share some of the gems I picked up today.

how do we deal with people like these?

...

...

...

I've been taught a lot of horse shit regarding socialism and communism

I don't know how the fuck I made it out of public school alive. I lived in the greater Washington, D.C. area, by the way. Not some right wing shithole.

That one's true.

every fucking time

Oh my trip is on this computer whatever.
Anyway I don't think he thinks materialism is flawed he just dislikes the emphasis on it. Which I would agree with him on, to some extent.

Is he?

...

also

"Religious suffering is, at one and the same time, the expression of real suffering and a protest against real suffering. Religion is the sigh of the oppressed creature, the heart of a heartless world, and the soul of soulless conditions. It is the opium of the people."

That doesn't sound like hate to me.

He didn't hate them, he just didn't believe that they bettered society. That's a pretty long ways from hate.

I remember one of my high school teachers telling the whole class with a straight face that "communism is when everyone gets the same wage".

More worryingly, I also remember reading in my high school History manual that the core tenet of "communism" was central planning.

Capitalism is so fragile that you can't even teach people about what conflicting ideologies actually are without strawmanning the fuck out of them or misrepresenting what they are entirely.

In ancomistan I'd see no problem teaching about what capitalism actually is.

Tell that to the nazbols and Asserites

Never gonna believe that shit ever again

Kekkleror, capitalism is so fragile that you can't even teach people about what capitalism actually is. Almost every self-proclaimed "capitalist" thinks capitalism is the same as a market economy.

They teach this in uni econ and it's literally Cenk. Life is a meme

We do.

Basically just "works nice on paper, awful in practice," point made with a reading of Animal Farm.

My AP World History teacher:

I'm not even fucking joking. I have no idea where he got this shit because it's too stupid even for cold war agitprop. I think he didn't realize that working class and lower class aren't interchangeable terms and just sort of postulated from there.

WHY THE FUCK IS HE ALLOWED TO TEACH HISTORY LET ALONE A FUCKING P HISTORY IF HE CAN MISREPRESENT ONE OF THE MOST IF NOT THE MOST IMPORTANT THINKER IN MODERN HISTORY

Our highschool hist. teacher told us the same shit.

because capitalism

aaand had that too in highschool lit. class

post-soviet catholic school ftw

I think I heard about that in some supplementary material in WHAP. Or something. It sounds like a familiar argument anyway.

American political "discourse", and the fact that it's beginning to take hold in the rest of the world, terrifies me.

JUST

That it's been responsible for 60 million deaths….I mean, cmon….that's literally like 10 holocausts….bullshit.

Only sixty million?

Except you didn't have to wear the same clothes or have the same haircut and "democracy" isn't the opposite system to communism.

"communism killed 120 million people"
"communism is where the janitor and the doctor all make minimum wage"
"in communism literally everything is illegal and there is no freedom"
"america is the greatest system in the world because we are a true democracy and our power don't corrupt thanks to checks and balances the fore fathers put in place"
"communism doesn't work because lazy workers get paid the same as hard workers and it ruins everything"

you know the standard absolute bullshit

holy fucking shit mine too

Yeah well off and happy. is that so bad? why is this spun into a bad thing? is the fact we want everyone to be very well off and no one to have to worry about sleeping in the street or not having a job a bad thing?

i'm remembering more shit my high school american history teacher said

"the reason why the USSR failed is because when you were born the government assigned you a job, some people born to be doctors became janitors and others born to be janitors became doctors, until one day there was a riot in the bread lines and the people demanded capitalism"

he also made us play a game where the class was split into 6 different groups and told to make cars out of paper, some groups made more cars then others then the teacher said "in communism it doesn't matter how many cars you make out of paper, you all get paid the same 10 dollars to live on for a year, no matter how hard you work"

i recall one of my highschool teachers saying im not allowed to buy food or own anything "produced by capitalists" since im a commie

Because rebel is a fucking socdem and not a socialist. Why do people even care about that tripfag.

...

I was never taught anything bullshit about socialism in school, because my History teacher for GCSE was based as fuck

...

As in, same shitty arguments I've heard that 'gommunism is state hurr hurr'

We never got history, we had religiouse class tho.

no

I'm still in high school my dudes, but I heard this last year, "the only difference between communism and fascism is thag under fascism you get private property"

Counter his meme with THIS;

An economics professor at a local college made a statement that he had never failed a single student before, but had recently failed an entire class. The class had insisted that capitalism, unburdened by government interference, was the only way to end up with a truly workable society and that left to their own devices the successful would create sufficient wealth that the tide of income would lift all boats.

The professor said, "Okay, we will have an experiment in this class on unfettered capitalism." Students were assigned positions in the "class corporation" based on their parent's income in order to reflect the benefits of being born to parents of various means. "Not to worry," said the professor, "Those of you who are at the bottom of the corporate ladder will no doubt be rewarded for hard work." The plan was this, convert all the grades individuals made on assignments into points, with higher grades being worth more points than lower grades–an A worth 4 points, a B worth 3 points, a C worth 2 points, a D worth 1 point, and an F being free. Present these points to the management of the corporation to distribute to the workers. Students would then take the points they were paid and purchase their grades.

After the first test, the grades were converted to points, the points given over to corporate officers to distribute, and management all made A grades. There was some discontent by those in the lower ranks of the company who felt they did not get paid in accordance with the work they had done. A few students declared they weren't going to try very hard next time.

After the second test the grades were again converted to points and the points distributed by the company officers. Again, corporate officers all earned A grades. The students who had grumbled last time all got insufficient points to purchase anything other than an F. A few of the hardest working non-management students were rewarded by getting Bs. Of the rest, the harder working ones earned Cs and those that worked less hard earned Ds.

To simulate variations in the business climate the professor would make some tests harder than others, lowering the income that the company would be expected to generate. Invariably however, the corporate officers came shining through with A grades whereas the impact of tough times were generally felt by those at the lowest rungs of the corporation.

At the end of the class the corporate officers, despite the toughest of times, all had A averages. Clearly no challenge was too difficult to these few students.

under comunism the state would make assign everyjobs based on a standardized test taken at 10

...

Huge as FUCK shoutout to my 10 grade history teacher though, he had us read The Jungle (Upton Sinclair) and I was the sole student who yakked of the horrendous working conditions described in the book instead of just the meat
He says to me at the end of the year

I didn't understand what he meant at the time, I do now though

No one even in the fucking USSR thought it was communist, it was socialist. When we (children of soviet immigrants) told the teacher this she just said "communism doesn't contradict socialism".

I dunno about the worst but they wasted hours of our time talking about how schools in the USSR taught nothing but indoctrination, which between that and all the school spirit shit they pissed away time on is pretty damn ironic. It wasn't even part of the curriculum, just the shit the smugfag math teacher and the jackass english teacher in love with the sound of his own voice felt the need to sperg out about periodically. We also got to hear about Stalin and Mao personally killing 500 gorillion bajillion people for no reason and with no extenuating circumstances like the revolution itself or World War Fucking II. Baby Boomers, not even once.

Tell /krillcen/ that, he'll flip out entertainingly.

i didn't think people like this existed
