Best 20 bucks I've spent on a game.

Wow. Bold opinion there user. Really rocking the boat.

Bold opinion there user, really rocking the boat

If he had put anything that wasn't general consensus the thread would've been toddposted, or even worse it would've been saged for being an unpopular opinion thread

7/10

6.5/10

Exactly. The same games will be posted this time as every other time and no deviation will be allowed. This thread is a self masturbatory waste of time.

...

This thread will be filled with games that are not actually 10/10, more like average 7/10's

I've been playing games since the late 80's and early 90's, image related is one of the few I would consider truly 10/10

Alright champ, post a 10/10 game that is not posted every other time.

Welcome to the board, where all the threads all day are like this.

Looks good, but too much reading tbh.

Next you'll say that Andrei Tarkovsky is a commie too you fucking dumbass.

Best recent game to date.

...

I dunno fam, the UI looks cluttered like some korean mmo shit. Post 90's east asian games were never good.

>Xenoblade X
Even the title says it's 10/10

But no, a serious lack of mission variety and a teenage girl's workout mix for a soundtrack are two significant flaws

...

Ace Combat Zero is better

Also dat typical weebshit dmc beat em up gameplay that I really don't like.

It does take a bit to get used to. All those variables are great though. Gives you lots of options to create your own strategy.

That music is pretty fucking great, m8.

Still haven't tried out that installment yet, but will do in the near future.

I will fucking fight you

Fucking hate that one song too.
Day version of it I like though.
No nogs.

Great then, great now. I still can't find another driving game with any serious police chase simulator besides GTA IV and Driver sequels, and those are still nothing compared to original Driver. The game somehow runs flawlessly on Win 7 too despite being made in 1999, you don't see anything like this anywhere.

You posted a picture of a soundtrack you fucking goon.

...

Where's my image codemonkey?

Better quality than the box art I could find, and it's the same piece of art.

...

The Warriors only counts if played on the hardest difficulty.

SWAT 4's one annoyance is that coop doesn't have a proper set of mission failures other than a squad wipe and misses out on the snipers supporting you/proper mission briefings. I really can't count that against the SP part of the game though.

Fite me.

Binary Domain has its flaws user. A needless voice recognition system is the first thing that springs to mind. I feel that the trust system would have worked much better if it were hidden too and actually somewhat difficult to earn/easier to lose.

Still a great game mind.

Speaking of which these all fall short of 10/10 (9.5/10 perhaps) for fairly obvious reasons.

Thief 1: overuse of horror elements (arguably less of an issue in Gold)

Bully: Gamebryo is a shitty engine and the PC port was poor in general. Again not an issue with the original game but that is missing some features to the point I'd call it too light on content to be 10/10

Dungeon Keeper: can get a tad repetitive

Warband: see the above. Also fuck sieges. MP by itself probably qualifies.

Mafia: the race mission and occasional difficulty spikes throughout.

...

10/10 dollars spent to enjoyment ratio.

I'd still say it's a little too short to be perfect.

Dude, nothing's wrong with any of these things. You just need to be a bit patient. They're still nothing compared to Driver's absurd difficulty.

The difficulty spikes aren't an issue for me but they're still something that detracts from pure perfection. Hell I'm pretty sure Vavra himself has said he feels that's a flaw in the game (I might have a look for that quote in a bit). The race, on the other hand, I still have problems with to this day due to being fucking terrible at driving in vidya. Thankfully the shortcut exists to skip it and all. I'll also point out that a not insignificant number of people gave up on the game outright at that point not helped by the fact searching for shit like that on the net didn't occur to most back in ~2003.

The key difference for me is Driver being a game actually about driving. Mafia is not a game about racing.

This

...

I don't get it, I don't remember having any thought of giving up in that racing segment. I'm terrible at racing too, I quickly get bored, but I felt that the handling was fine and I finished it in no more than a few tries in a day.

Fucking cultural piece right there.

10/10

Though it was 10/10 long before that because of pretty much everything else, like the game being full of so much content. Fukuoka is great, as well as Kazuma's side story; car racing and taxi driving. Saejima had a nice hunting side story, and Sapporo is gorgeous when it's snowing at night during Christmas time. Not too much of a fan of Osaka but I enjoyed Haruka's jobs and story quite a bit, and even more when Akiyama came in. Nagoya is gorgeous, and Shinada is a nice character, and tons of fun to play as.

Just, this game man.

It might depend what platform you were playing it on and perhaps if you were using the realistic driving mode. I believe an early patch reduced the difficulty of the race on the PC but obviously that wouldn't have appeared for the PS2/Xbox or people too dumb to grab it. Cerainly a quick google will pull up pages and pages of people being stuck on it going all the way back to the release in 2002.

The handling is fine in terms of realism/immersion but that's what makes the race a dick (cars back then did not handle well). Regardless I do still love the game.

I fucking love that game, my only gripe was not enough Majima and fuck that impossible stand-up comedy side mission.

I've put at least 50 hours into it and I still occasionally hear someone mention a side mission that I hadn't encountered yet.

I think my main gripe with Yakuza 5 was the beginning of Saejima's part. It's a hell of a slog and the prison break is nowhere near as exciting as 4's.

That stand up comedy side mission is hell, though. I really feel you on that one.

The console ports are trash, especially PS2. Never touch them. And yeah, I probably played it with the patch. It can be toggled to disable damage.

Well I know that now user. Back when I first played I was not so smart.

Yoshi's Island

What makes a game a 10/10 to you guys?
The way I see it 10/10 means absolutely perfect, no flaws whatsoever.
so I don't think a 10/10 game exists, but I really want to hear the way you guys classify 10/10 games.

...

No one is saying a game is literally 10/10, since a true 10/10 is impossible. "10/10" just means "masterpiece; essentially flawless; classic; timeless." The top 1%, or perhaps top 0.1%.

a game with excellent gameplay, excellent design, and fullness of content

a game that you cannot think of a way to improve would be 10/10
for comparison, think of mass effect 2 and 3. You can think of a few thousand ways to improve them

Exoddus is better solely for having an ALL O' YA button and more puzzle variety

What version? Pre- or post-guidelines?

...

I for one can appreciate the guidelines (I'm hardly grandmaster tier) but making them optional is best

The entire trilogy is 10/10

it doesn't help modern games to be 10/10 when the industry treats them as prepackaged goods

two pairs speaks the truth

10/10 means that if you were to change anything about the game it would only make it worse/maintain the same quality.

Then again I only think a numeral rating system is useful when the person giving the rating has extremely similar tastes to you. So much of a game can be based off of personal preference that an out of 10 score can differ so much from person to person. Plus describing what one thinks works and doesn't work in a game makes it easier to identify people with poor taste.

30000/10

obligatory

I love how everyone just ignores the shitty escort mission shoved in the middle of the game

Fallout is shit, kill yourself.

Dungeon Keeper is a severely flawed game that is a 6/10 at best.

Blow your fucking brains out.

It's scary how this was made in 2001, and 15 years later the AI were right all along

The severely flawed controls of Prime mean it can never achieve more than an 8/10.

when was it ever wrong? why would it ever change?

user I still play this game every other day and there's no way I would give it a 10/10.

fuck off

also one of the best webms

Better than a Holla Forums shit thread.

If you were to take 10/10 completely at face value it means like you said; absolutely perfect and without flaws.

But lots of these have flaws. Or things I don't like, including the game I posted

It's more like, the rest of the game is so good or appeals to you in such away that the flaws are basically made incredibly minor or can be ignored completely. Like I could list off things I dislike in Yakuza 5 but once I'm playing I forget or ignore all of them.

It's like this thread is asking you about your favourite games, more or less.

I remember it being hard as a kid but once you get the hang of controlling the cars there, it shouldn't be much of a problem.

Basically, every other race car out there can be easily taken over by riding moderately fast and primarily taking advantages of the curves.

I don't think realize that fukushima was the real talent behind the pen when it came to MGS' conspiracy aspects and how the games narrative tanked when he left.

A lot of good taste from a lot of anons here.

To be clear, i'm talking about Halo3 and ME 1 and ME 2

Man that series was great. Never understood why they stopped making them after On Tour for 7 years.

Best of the series

...

Can't really say either ME1 or 2 are 10/10 with Planet Mining and the Mako. Also, ME2 stories is weirdly divided. The character side missions aren't connected at all to the main story. Then again under that scrutiny you can't say any game is 10/10

Stalker SoC with ZRP.
Gothic 2 with Night of the Raven expansion
Original Metro 2033 (not the redux version)
System Shock 2
