GO could've been a good idea, but being it was developed by no-name devs from San Francisco and it was a mobile game, it was doomed from the start.

Its a mobile game that uses the very basics. There are trainers in the canon that just catch pokemon to catch them. It's essentially a way to get out of the house and collect pokemon. If I wanted battling and stats I'd just play one of the handheld, non-mobile-app versions. GO is free and gives me something to do on my run. You're crying like a bitch over something that wasn't ever meant to be a replacement for the handhelds. It's a bonus and nothing more. And it's FREE for fucks sake.

I kind of wish that pokemon would have a little more to it. Like a pokemon game that played more like a FF Tactics game with a grid and movement. It'd make pokemon like shedinja way more useful with their crazy speed, and different types of moves get different properties, like beam moves having absurd range, or gas/fog/myst moves lingering around for an extra turn. Or fighting moves that mix damage and maneuverability, and moves like fly/bounce/dig/rock climb, surf, giving a tactical advantage on "mixed terrain" areas.

I met up with old friends I haven't seen in literally years to spend the night together tracking down Pokemon. We took over all the gyms in the park, yelled at a bunch of Team Valor punks and had fun.

The game is an rng fest, I get that, mechanically it's super shallow and the gym battles are little more than button mashing right now. But this has been the most fun I've had gaming in literally years.

It's impossible to describe just how cool it is going to a lure at like 2 am and finding a shit ton of other people hanging out and farming low tier Pokemon.

The appeal of the game ISN'T the game, it's the people you meet while playing.

And if you could just remove your head from your asshole for a few seconds you might realize it.

Try out the remakes of the Gen 1 & 2 games, FireRed/LeafGreen and HeartGold/SoulSilver, they're the best in the series, after that, just choose whatever you want. The Gen 6 games aren't worth it. They're piss easy (for Pokemon standards, anyways) and X/Y has no postgame whatsoever.

Recently beat the E4 of Black for the first time. I feel kind of bad about dropping Black when it first came out. It ended up surprising me how much stuff there is to do, especially after beating the game, and now I really understand how much of a step down XY were. Though kind of in the game's defense, they had to whip up 700+ models, animate them, and quality check them. It does sort of future proof them a bit since they can be reused for future games instead of having to create new sprites every time.

Anyway this was my team for Black.

Zoroark and Mienshao are better than any of those.

Colosseum is the one I remember more fondly due to nostalgia reasons, while I believe I had more fun overall with Gale of Darkness when making Gen 3 my first to catch them all.
Gale of Darkness also has the Battle SIMs, my personal favorite set of minigames in the pokemon franchise.

Colosseum, XD is longer, has more pokemon, and adds limited wild Pokemon functionality but in my opinion it doesn't beat the simple but strong foundation laid by Colosseum. In the event you care about transferring Pokemon from the console games to later generations, XD requires the target Generation 3 game save to have beaten the Elite 4 while Colosseum does not.

I actually beat Iris in Blaze Black 2 last night.
I can't believe that it took me 80 ingame hours just to get to the fucking daycare. I wanted to indulge in breeding autism HOURS ago, so I just stuck with the same team for 95% of the game instead. I don't normally use legendaries, but it was just BEGGING to wipe out Team Plasma with me.

I really wish this was true,but they'll just go into denial or acceptance mode about this. Look at sonic fans, they get 1 decent game out of every 5 or so and they still blindly love the charcter.
