Net Neutrality ended years ago when big companies exerted their will over smaller websites.

The last website to be fighting for net neutrality, and by extension, Google, would be Holla Forums. Fuck em.

Imagine a world where websites like google, facebook, and twitter were dead, and the only surviving places on the web were basic web 1.0 type sites that don't take up much bandwidth.

Honestly, there should be no freedom of speech on the internet. We have to take into consideration we are regularly interacting with non-Americans who have different laws and values. I would support some type of board or council that selectively approves content that doesn't threaten our democracy. No reason why some guy who isn't a citizen should have the ability to influence our politics. With such a council we would be protected from foreigners and can still enjoy freedom of speech irl. Imho the internet in its current state is helping to spread globalism.

Companies have already been deciding what is and isn't allowed on their platforms. Private institutions controlling speech should extend to ISPs

I don't understand much about net neutrality but wouldn't that empower internet corps like Comcast? Is this fucking over everyone or just sites like Holla Forums? Can these new laws essentially make assessing sites like this harder or even nearly impossible? If there's a bias or large swaps of money toward and form Google and ect. wouldn't they be virtually unaffected?

the real question is if they try to split the internet up into packages and sequester youtube behind a paywall, wouldn't people just switch to an ISP that doesn't do this? It's way more important to split up the major ISPs so they can't enforce some retarded policies like partitioning the internet than it is to ensure all packets are treated the same; in fact repealing net neutrality opens ISP up to child porn trafficking investigations since they will be required to inspect the packets if they are to enforce their partitioning.
