The hp movies came out in an era when critics still had some semblance of duty and even with all the negative response from bookfags and having to adapt books that were actual bricks they did a pretty stand up job, just like Jackson did with LOTR. it is actually quite impressive how every single one was good or great.

In the US there aren't many books made aimed at kids.

I remember when i was a kid there was Goosebumps, but teachers would always tell kids they couldn't read them for book reports. Instead schools would try having kids read novels like Of Mice and Men.

Then Harry Potter comes along and is marketed as a fun book to read, which relative to those that had been around, it was.

Problem is there's not a ton of novels aimed at young adults. It's almost always novels done for toddlers, adults, or adults that want to think of themselves as kids. I remember my school library having tons of novels that were pretty much Nancy Drew tier bullshit which is kinda dull.

There just isn't much competition in the realm of young adult literature so something as shitty as Harry Potter can stand out. I suspect this could change over the next few years since I'm seeing more people getting into Japanese light novels due to things like Overlord plus the various anime being produced based on light novels for the express purpose of promoting the light novels. They're fun adventures without all the bullshit that gets loaded onto the western young adult novels by middle aged women that write them.

Indiana Jones is a trilogy with an epilogue made over 20 years later. At least you so much as acknowledge it though, sequel denialism is one of the biggest giveaways of Plebbit stowaways on an IB.
Transformers did alright on its first outing, showcasing shiny new film technologies that hadn't truly been used to the extent that Bay did back in 2007. After that, everything else was purely produced to shift toys. Thanks to it and the colorful horse cancer, Hasbro never needs money ever again. They are effectively the Nintendo of the film world; product quality no longer matters as they can afford to fuel their furnaces with crisp stacks of bills.
James Bond was and to an extent still is hit after hit and only had three real missteps in the main franchise; A View To a Kill, Die Another Day and Quantum of Solace. Really not that bad for something with almost 25 installments, not to mention it had nearly 25 years to its belt before its first major screw-up.
Twilight was average through and through even with the original, but you've got to admire the timeframe they shat them out (5 in 5 years hasn't been seen since Old Hollywood apart from maybe Saw) and how much of a return they all made on their initial investment. They knew exactly what they set out to do and did it, Pattinson got rich as a result.
Star Wars has always been a hit critically and/or comercially. Even after recycling entire plotlines each entry within the series continues to prove it's capability of shifting its own weight. Only Reddit dislikes the prequels. Goes without saying but I thought I'd re-iterate it anyway. Order is 5>4>3>1>2>6>7. Anything else is telltale Reddit.

I'm not exaggerating anything here, Delbonel worked with the director Alexander Sokurov on Faust and Francofonia, and Sokurov was one of Andrei Tarkovsky's mentored students.
