PREQUEL

It happened! Now we can wait 6 years until the next one.

I like that art tho.

...

Sequel?

Sequel?

Is the plot still contrived?

It's been so damned long that I can't even bring myself to care.

...

Prequel lmao, is that cat bitch still in fucking kvatch? I stopped following after the second year IN KVATCH

Does anyone find it funny that this entire story is taking place during Oblivion

I think it's BEFORE Oblivion since the gates haven't opened yet

It only exists for the porn, just like Planet Dolan, Two Kind or whatever other faggotry people only follow because they hope to finally see the tits of the characters.

I never understand when people put this level of effort into fanfic. If you're going to put the time in, might as well be something you own and can sell

Dere Juden ladies and gentlemen. No concept of art or intrinsic value.

I cannot summon the will to care. Im not coming back after all this time. Let it die

Was honestly not worth the wait of two years, but hopefully that means we get updates on the regular now.

...

The main question is: Is it any good?

Take a look:
youtube.com/user/CreamofVideoGames/videos

The vast majority of all Elder Scrolls "fan content" is actually interns and shills working under an alias. It's all bacterial marketing.

worth the wait

Wait what? So Jews are the ones pushing for original content? Being a Jew means not pushing for fanfiction?

I see the Game ((your)) playing with.

Long but cute.

Dein Deutsch ist schwach, Untermensch. „die Juden“, nicht „dere“. Selbstmorde.

Damnit I thought the Internet was over this.

fucking this

Too many sites still run on it.

And by the time you get to the next posting your realize everything is trash and the project will just jerk you along for eternity. But the 2 god damn year pause has pulled out any semblance of sympathy or emotion you had for the situation.

I love Katia but fuck this. I'd rather never have seen this.

I can't understand what's with the authors obsession with flash games. They are decent, and clearly he put a lot of effort into them, but it takes too much time, I'd rather he would post regular updates with shitty art and static pngs, than to wait for an year to play an average flash game. I know he didn't actually spend two years on this(he probably ran out of money and had to post something), but still.
I am sure the author will at least lurk this thread, since he did actually post here two years ago, and told us about his previous canceled project.

I think a bigger question is how it takes 2 full years to make a rather simple flash game.

Like, if I were to start making a game today, it might take me 2 years to complete with absolutely no experience and working two jobs.

As I said, he probably didn't actually spend two whole years working on this, he also did that sales event where he sold merchandise, and I bet he only started working on this, when he almost ran out of money. With that said, this is his fifth(?) flash game, that take place in Kvatch, and it clearly takes more time to make a simple side-scroller that it takes to make a few simple gifs. I don't what is his obsession with flash games and animations, but if he wants to do them, they should be few and far in between, like once a year, after updating every week with shitty drawings and barely animated gifs, instead of waiting a year for a mediocre flash game.
Let's be honest, he has been rail-roading the story hard, he picks the choices that are convenient to him, and if not, ignores them and says something like "you don't control Katia, you just give her some advice, and if I she wants to drink alcohol and fuck her shit up, and you don't, well then too bad :^)" . Sure he has no problems if the players want to talk to character B, instead of A, since at one point they will have to talk to A, and he can even make character B say something like "go talk to A".
Don't get me wrong, there is nothing inherently wrong with this, all I am saying is that he can work on the game/animation a few months in advance, but also post content on a weekly basis.

At the very least, there was a standard comic update about a week after the flash. I would hope Kaz learned his lesson and goes back to just regular updates for a good long while, but I wouldn't get my hopes up.

...

Why were you masturbating to furry porn, user?

Well, I…

...

Yeah, no history of overlap of cartoons and furry.

That would just be weird.

It was mostly backgrounds. Or more specifically, artists who swore they could do painted backgrounds easily, proceeded to not do them for months, and then actually started and realized they /couldn't/ do paintd backgrounds. It turns out Makkon is the only person I know who can do environmental art, but far from the only person who thinks they can do environmental art.

That's not an attempt to shift blame. If anything, it's my fault for not pressing the artists to start the backgrounds (and subsequently realize they couldn't do them) as soon as I paid them.

There were a lot of minor inefficiencies elsewhere, too. Like, we transitioned to a trigger system that was much more versatile, but required 8 coordinates for every trigger (compared to a simple X and Y when we were doing tile-based triggers). The rotoscoped sprites, too, turned out to be a lot more work than they sounded on paper. All of these things were ostensibly supposed to save time and make production easier (ironically, that was even the intent behind outsourcing background art), but ended up compounding into something that took forever. And once you already have half the triggers laid or half the backgrounds made, there's an unfortunate sunk-cost thing going on where you don't want to switch systems or art styles and /invalidate/ all that work.

I'm happy with how it turned out overall (even the invisible movement, which seems to be about as divisive as the slippy movement in the sidescroller minigame), but the sheer amount of time everything took was miserable. I have no intent to ever touch painted graphics, rotoscoping, or non-tile-based map design again. I'll probably make more interactive stuff eventually, but it'll be, like, a Katia you can boop on the nose.

Speaking personally, I've only met a Bethesda employee once. I don't remember it well because I was really drunk, but I think he said he was a dungeon designer for Skyrim, and I told him Morrowind's dungeons were better.

I wouldn't be surprised if marketing forces were behind those "TOP FIVE MOST BRUTAL WEAPONS IN SKYRIM"-type videos, but I think most fanfiction comes from people who love the source material's concept but are very critical of its execution. Or perhaps conversely, I think people can't write good fanfiction unless they're a bit critical of the source material.

Wait, fuck, I'm remembering more about it now. I think I also suggested a bunch of MLP fanfiction to him.

After that massive wait, all I want is comic panels and submitted commands. It's good to hear you're of similar mindset.

This warms my heart.

Please.

THIS
At least do one year of only static images and a few simple gifs, and then try and do something more complex. I don't care if you railroad the adventure, but please update more frequently, because in this case I'd rather have a bit more quantity and less quality.

How long did it take for him to alert Todd and get you put in the Bethesda dungeons for blasphemy?

You must have been too drunk to stand to miss that kind of opportunity

Well, Id like another comic to follow after all my comics…finished. But I had my suspension of disbelief shattered after the whole "NPC uses Cha booster to rule the town", as well as the "Four Leaf Clover Buildup". Then after that the "Robbing a Person abusing a game mechanic will teach her about personal responsibility (Not having stronger security or anything)

I feel like if I follow this comic something stupid like that will knock me out of it again. Will stuff like that keep happening? I just don't feel like getting invested if every other comic I feel like I'm getting punked as an audience member.

He probably escaped by clipping through the walls.

Oh hey. It's actually you.
Just wanted to say that I enjoyed Prequel while it was regularly updating, and your dedication to the more game-like updates was really cool, but the huge gap in updates made me give up on it, and now it's been so long that I don't want to bother to go through it all again. Nothing against you or the quality of your work, but it is what it is.

And for what it's worth, I know how it can be to starting working on a personal passion project and then suddenly.. a year or two has gone by and you wonder why the fuck you didn't do it sooner. I've actually worked on some stuff that had a minor following and then I just stopped and had people asking when I'd pick it up again.. and then months went by, and years, and it almost felt wrong to pick it up again.

I don't know, Arena's were like bog standard DnD dungeons. Like, something your DM would lay out on the table with little miniature wall pieces.

I feel like Morrowind's dungeons tended to be lots of connected areas with a radial design. Like, a single dungeon might be divided into a number of rooms and towers, and each room would usually have some obstruction in the middle so you could be flanked from either side, or choose to stay far away and do ranged, or run away down a route you hadn't been in yet. Whereas Skyrim dungeons were like a single circular noodles, Morrowind dungeons were a whole bunch of small loops put together, often with a vertical element as well (like those goddamn snakey airborne paths in the dunmer burial caverns).

I do hope destructable scenery makes a comeback in 6, though. Hell, I'm still kind of hoping someone makes a Skyrim mod that puts little desctructable houses all over the towns so they both have a realistic population and get visibly wrecked in dragon fights.

No hard feelings! I can understand where you are coming from. I hope that eventually morbid curiosity will lead you to re-click the comic, catch up, and be back into it, but that is wholly on me to facilitate.

(You should totally surprise everyone and pick your old project back up, though)

That would involve returning to cuckchan. I'd rather not..

Found the problem.

I haven't read your comic in at least 3 years, maybe more. What have I missed?

Is there an image board that you don't snarl up in? I think I've even seen you on cuckchan /trash/.

It takes place about a week or two before the beginning of Oblivion.
Katia is most likely the hero of Kvatch.

No one gives a shit, Helmut. Enjoy ypur muslims.

we're more likely to see Skyrim™ 2 and more paid mod/microtransaction bullshit than a legitimate TES 6 based around another continent. Making a whole new game is too much effort, microtransactions pay the same or more and require no effort, specially when your own fans make the microtransactions for you and you just charge them a percentage of their sales.

and even if we get a TES 6, its going to have about 3 weapon types (Big, Small, and Ranged), 2 armor types (Heavy and Light), and its gonna be focused entirely on EPIC™ VISCERAL™ COMBAT KILLCAMS for the retards. TES is dead. sorry buddy. Your comic thingy is still great and i hope you don't have to leave for another 2 years Togashi-style.

Wrong, Planet Dolan exists only for Chris.

The answer is autism.
