I like OK KO, can we talk about it?
I think it's really enjoyable, it feels like watching an old Beat 'em up game.

I like OK KO, can we talk about it?
The show looks like ass.
But it has a cute loli.
Brown chick is pretty fuckable too.
Content is okay in and of itself.
I wish it didn't look so much like ass.
Did you actually give it a shot, user?
It looks fucking hideous. Like the only tools they were given to make it were Adobe Flash and MS Paint.
it depends on the episode, they let the storyboarder of each episode draw it according to their style/talent. The storyboarder for the dendy episode is a good artist

Both of you can fuck off.
inb4 shill thread
jesus christ, is this what Holla Forums's become? we can't talk about cartoons?
OK KO is the poor man's Steven Universe. I mean that literally and without exaggeration: the style, voice direction, and episodes plots are all largely direct knockoffs of SU circa Season 1, but with the (relatively) subtler feminist shilling from the early days replaced with even cheaper and shittier production values, art direction, and animation than current day SU episodes. If I imagined an old man from the Midwest being put in charge of a shoestring-budget cartoon and told to "remake that lesbian magical alien show your dykey granddaughter likes, but with superheroes and not queer," OK KO is exactly what I expect he would eventually bumble out. So long as they retain a SU S1 level of quality in regards to narrative throughout, I suppose it isn't entirely unwatchable, but we'll see how long it takes for the writers to go full-on "agenda-pusher" on this poor PoS's ass.
Ignore the shitposter.
So now they tell animation studios not to cleanup rough scribbles?
broken shift key
failing to link posts
exactly, as a means of retaining 'style' or going for a 'raw/organic' look
i don't see them as all that similar, ko is less of a whiner and sperg than steven and ko doesn't have the same extreme problem of 1 thing happens per episode with obscene amounts of dead air.
I've watched a few episodes. It's pretty okay and certainly better than just about anything else airing on cartoon network at the moment.
I think it,s arguably the best show on Cartoon Network right now. Then again, look what's on Cartoon Network right now.
I looks like ass.
Fuck off Ian, nobody gives a shit about your crappy LOL RANDOM show.
Also here's a writing tip for you, video game references are not substitutes for humor! Seriously this isn't fucking 2004 Newgrounds.
Now now, there's plenty of anime references too.
it feels like watching an old Beat 'em up game.
It feels like "What if life was like a video game cartoon # 5376". For all it's faults at least adventure time bothered to make its own lore rather than rely solely on nostalgia wank and references to better media.
Proper paragraph structure is "reddit spacing"
And then there's just plain retardation.
How did this show manage to look more like ass than in the pilot?
Decrease of the budget or they paid leaves to do it.
LOL RANDOM show
It's more like
<LOL RETRO VIDEO GAEMS AMIRITE MY FELLOW NERDS??
Nice circle hands kid
How did something this ugly get to air? I mean I thought CN learned their lesson from Problem Solverz but apparently not.
How did something this ugly get to air?
Simple as fuck art style. Plain backgrounds. Basic music. Quirky premise with simple humor and 1-dimensional characters.
It can't cost much for CN to produce this, compared to something like Steven Universe which disappears into hiatus hell for months at a time. Likely the same reason TTG is so popular with the execs. It's cheap, it's profitable, and it's just inoffensive enough to never cause any problems.
I never really liked the art style but it's clear the budget took a steep dive after the pilot. I would rather have the pilot animation than what they got away with on TV.
It seems the only series that don't suffer from a lack of funding are made by independent studios like A.K.A. cartoons. Also check out the Dopefish reference.
It's not that OP's a shill, it's just that he's a faggot with shit taste
This is weeb Holla Forums people just like to complain, Holla Forums was a mistake.
So let get this straight, we can't have any show with a normal 22 minute format episode because it's "too expensive" and CN thinks garbage like this is a good compromise?
I mean I get that they're slowly moving away from TV because it is a dying medium and all that and I wouldn't surprised if they follow Disney's footsteps and launch their own streaming service (you know it's gonna happen) but goddamn, their shows are just becoming worse and worse to look at.
He sounds like gohan from dragon ball z
Same voice actress.
I think it is.
Tell me how the meanie weebs are oppressing you, user?
How they are physically preventing you from posting and making threads about western animation and illustration.
Please tell us, you fucking drama queen.
Just report and ignore user, its a two day old post, don't give him a reason to respond. But seriously the loli faggot just wants to talk about porn, do that somewhere else and not derail the thread.
Holy shit those fucking noses. Looks like they have hotdogs glued between their eyes.
They've should've just forget them entirely.
Cartoons can't be waifus.
I watched about 6 episodes. It seems more targeted at younger kids, but it seemed relatively cute. I think most people here are turned off by its pedigree and the anime aping, but I don't think it's particularly bad.
Except for the fucking art style, holy shit. Ball hands? What are we, six? Come on guys. I can only hope that they just gave them a shoestring budget and that's why it looks like shit. Otherwise there is no excuse for this nonsense. At least the animation itself is pretty smooth.
Cal arts artsyle
That's the joke. The guy who runs the store they work at is meant to be a rip-off Mike Haggar. The chick is Chun-Li, and the main character is some kind of Goku rip-off.
I figured with the blue vest he was a Billy Lee reference.
At first I thought so myself.
but compare himself with kid goku. A really naive kid who wants to become stronger. He even shares a Voice actor with kid goku.
Personality wise sure…of course you can paint that personality to a few dozen shonen protagonists too. Eyes constantly on the prize and too naive/stupid to understand just how unrealistic their goals are.
creator is a nigger
every single character is a ripoff of an existing one
Can he really be a nigger when wearing cyclops anime girl shirts?
I've only watched a few episodes, but I caught several Double Dragon refereneces. They went in purposefully trying to cram in as many references to 80s and 90s cartoons and games, so there's lots of Dragon Ball, Street Fighter 2, Double Dragon, and probably some River City Ransom along with other shit in there.
nigga steals everything
What a surprise, right?
He looks more like a weeaboo nigga.
You'd be surprised how many black anime fans there are. The ratio I've seen is probably close to the ratio of the General population (of black people… not anime fans)
I think the show is shit but the Kappa and the Mouse lolis are fuckable.
Black weebs can be pretty fun to party with.. Don't lend them shit or do them any favors though. They never pay you back.
Seems like a good chunk of the characters are references. One of the extras in the pilot was an obvious Commander Keen reference.
Seems like the creator was going for that "kids can enjoy it, but older audiences will be entertained by the things the kids don't understand" sort of things. The current generation of 6-12 year olds probably don't even known who Goku is anymore, and they definitely don't know about Double Dragon and Final Fight.
they definitely don't know about Double Dragon and Final Fight.
Some do. Classic games are all up on YouTube and Google for anyone to see.
Its just a reference-athon.
Well, they're black. How can they pay you back if they're poor? Do you expect them to share their food stamps with you?
I've watched a few episodes and find it pretty damn enjoyable. Simple, funny, likable characters, etc. The art style is QUALITY tier but I can look past it.
7/10 overall, I hope it stays decent.
single sentences look better with leddit spacing
The imagine doesn't even specify "single sentences." It just says "habitually presses the enter key twice."The infograph is shit at actually spreading information.
Hitting enter twice after each sentence is proper paragraph structure
That's kinda another thing that frustrates me about this show, the character designs and colors are all fuck ugly but the animation is smooth for some odd fucking reason. It just creates this weird experience when I find myself getting more and more frustrated with show as it progresses than I enjoy it.
I think they can pull off some of the animation on a budget because it's borderline stick figure theater character design.
But the thing is, they kept fucking up even with basic character designs. Look at Steven Universe, that show lacks complex character designs yet the fucks who animate it always end up fucking up in EVERY episode. Another example is the godawful PPG reboot, where they fuck up animating the most fucking basic of character designs!
The only show currently airing on CN that I honestly say has good animation is Gumball, but that's only because it is animated in Europe by people who know what the fuck they are doing and not CalART grads.
Surely this show is the absolute nadir of CN. It can't get any worse than this, right?
I'm pretty sure it will
we already had problem solvers. Is this worse than that?
At least that one isn't made by a nigger.
Now that was a crime against nature.
I find most of them like a mix with two vidya gaem characters Mr. Gar seems like a mix of Mike Haggar and Saxton Hale for both looks and having a store for selling stuff and weapons (or power ups) , Enid being a mix of Chun-Li and Shantae from her hair and the pilot had her with the exact hair but it was changes to probably avoid a lawsuit and K.O. is a mix of Billy from the Double Dragon series with Kid Goku.
No. Problem Solverz looked like shit on purpose because it was post-modern hooey.
OK KO looks like shit because the studio has a minuscule budget and everyone on the staff is a freshly graduated Cal-Arts student.
Gumball is painfully underrated.
It got 3 seasons it has enough attention.
Is he Black Preon's long lost twin brother?
GTFO reddit scum
It worked neither way.
I think the thing that pisses me off the most about this show other than the trite anime/video game references that are constantly shoved down the viewer's throat is the animation.
I know the talentless fucks who animated this garbage are gonna blame the budget but that's a load of fucking horseshit, I've seen Adult Swim shows that have worked with smaller budgets and turned out really good. This is just fucking awful to look at, the colors are bright as all hell (because nobody from CalARTs knows what fucking color theory is) the character designs constantly appear off model, all the characters seem to have ball hands for some odd fucking reason (guess animating closed fists is too hard for these hacks) and it just looks fucking ugly.
I reminded of an interview I read with Bruce Timm talking about Batman TAS and the reason why Clayface wasn't used more was because he was too hard to animate with the technology they had at the time, but you know what? When Clayface did fucking appear on the show he was animated pretty well because the studios who animated Batman gave a fucking shit about the product they were working on.
Preach it user.
I'd give this show a chance if it was better drawn and actually had animators that gave a damn.
You mean if CN actually paid their executives less and used the savings to hire a better Korean studio and gave the storyboarders enough time to actually draw something more complex than 3rd grade scribbles. Trust me, I've tried getting into the industry and it's not easy. Half these artists could do a better job if there was enough time and money for the little people. The other half are there because of who they know.
That would require an actual budget.
