Question for those born in 1997(cusp of Gen Z and Millennials): do you associate your childhood more closely with Millennial cartoons like "Megas XLR", "Samurai Jack", "Rocket Power", "Dave the Barbarian", "The Weekenders", "Spongebob" seasons 1-3, and "Recess"?
Or Gen Z cartoons like "Chowder", "Phineas and Ferb", post-movie Spongebob, Flapjack, "Total Drama Island", and "Johnny Test"?
Those cartoons you listed are early 2000's aren't they? I guess you could separate it between 2000-2005 to 2006-2010. I was born in 1994 so I guess I'm a younger millenial?

My little brother was born on 1997. I was 7 when he was born.
I say with the two of us growing up, he has childhood memories of the Spongebob Seasons 1-3, Chowder, Marvelous Misadventures of Flapjack, Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy, Jimmy Neutron, and he loves Johnny Test.
Now that he's 19 and I'm 27, he rarely watches cartoons unless if I'm watching them.
For me, I grew up on the mid-90s cartoons all the way to the present. It is a cliche, but a lot of the TV channels that normally show cartoons all now feature live-action shows or attempted to do a live-action. Remember Out of Jimmy's Head?

I'd say the first. I still love to this day Ed Edd N Eddy. That was my favorite show as a kid and I still love it. I sort of remember Samurai Jack as a kid and I remember finding toys for it on the CN website, and I tried to order them but my mom came in and told me they cost money, which I didn't get. I also really liked The Clone Wars, and I recall Johnny Bravo and the Powerpuff Girls.
I remember shows like Camp Lazlo and Cramp Twins and all those CN shows 2004+, I didn't start watching SpongeBob until 3rd grade so I only barely associate it with my childhood, just 3rd grade mostly.

Gen-Z is way older than people realize. If you were born after 1995, technically you fit the bill. Half the time when people talk about millennials they mean gen-Z, and half the time they talk about that they mean what ever the hell the next generation is gonna be called.

"Millennial" cartoons never stopped being aired once they ended , they were re-run quite a lot.
There is no set date on these things though, they're advertising schemes. I've also seen 2000 and 2005 used as Gen-z start dates frequently.
So when someone calls a 22-year-old or even a 13-year-old a millennial, they can technically be correct depending on which Jew marketing pamphlet they refer to.
The ones typically given credit for coining these terms are Time, and that's the reference point I used. Given how much of a cultural gap there is between me (1998) and my siblings (1992 & 1993) I see the 1997 date as relatively accurate.

Spongebob S1-3 is definitely a bastion for me, I felt if I hadn't watched it, I would have had lower standards for animation/writing today. I felt absolutely fucking heartbroken after the reboot, that's one of the first times I felt the magic "Die" in muh childhood so to speak, and I became very sad about it. The way characters interacted with each other felt so human and kindred, yet at the same time, the cartoony oddball feeling of it made it the perfect escape for me during times of hardship. After my tolerance grew low in S5, I had shows like Catscratch, Fosters, Jimmy Neutron, Chalk Zone, etc give me a temporary closure. The writing wasn't as clever, nor as timeless as spongebob though, not even close.
Spongebob sort of, treated its audience with dignity, meanwhile nu-spongebob throws the worst jokes at you and asks you "IS THIS FUNNY!?!?" "HAHAHAH. THAT'S FUNNY, RIGHT!?!?!" with every hamfisted psuedo-gore joke that felt more at home with a show like ren and stimpy.
I hate and still dislike Phineas and ferb, and the majority of Disney shows in general, save for Gravity falls (even if Alex did a slop job on season 2, and he's a fucking joke when it comes to his political opinions) along with Svtfoe. I hate the Scott Pilgrim influence in it, but it's high-energy enough to keep me coming back like a beaten housewife.
To condesce my answer though; it's a mix of both, I loved Chowder, Flapjack and Mr. Meaty when I started puberty. I'm very picky about what I watch. I fucking hated Korra and glad it got fucked. Steven universe had potential but I gave up on it when they rescued the green midget and she became less menacing.
