What is with all these newer cartoons? The pacing is breakneck, the characters all scream their lines and the colors are blinding. I know I'm a hypocrite for liking Invader Zim but at least that show actually had a style and could build dramatic tension.

It seems like every show on CN isn't given enough time or talent to make something clever or beautiful anymore. The shortcuts are apparent which lead to weak, unfunny stories and the network censors undoubtedly contribute to this. I once pitched a show to the network and learned how little faith producers have that kids will pay attention, so all motivations have to be extremely basic, obviously portrayed and resolved in a parent-friendly manner. Kind of limiting if you ask me.
