What's going on here? I'm also seeing posts disappearing in that thread and bans being handed out for rather innocuous shit as spam. I check the ban page from time to time
and I've seen this occur on other days as well. Usually politics/pol/ are involved in the posts when I look up the bans labeled as spam.
I dunno, I get tired of reading that too but it's still scummy just labeling them as spam.
I don't want to stir up a hornet's nest but I've seen this "spam" ban reason given over the past few months for posts I saw in threads that weren't really spam but deleted. Bumplocking the south park thread with no reason given just made me finally go through with asking this through the thread.

Hi, I'm the volunteer in question (though not this volunteer , if it is a volunteer. I don't know. Holla Forums has multiple volunteers).
The anons that were banned for spam go across the board, to multiple threads, shit them up with non-Holla Forums related crap, which many times promptly derails whatever discussion was going on in those threads. So I have to go in, ban them for a couple days, then delete their comment and the replies to that comment so that discussion can resume. This is what I try to do to keep Holla Forums from completely falling to shit.
There's been an increase because I've noticed an increase, and I'd rather be safe and have a few Holla Forumsfags pissed off at me than being sorry when all Holla Forumsfags have to suffer Holla Forums becoming a proxy board or completely shit up with non-co related garbage.
I bump-locked two threads today. The South Park thread and the Voltron thread. Both threads have become shit in my opinion, but I've unlocked the South Park thread since it was made only last week. The Voltron thread has been around for almost a month now and I'd rather have people make a new Voltron thread than necro-bump that one.
I'll be bump-locking this thread, as common procedure with meta threads. Feel free to continue your discussion, as I'll be monitoring this thread.
Hey, fag, I have a question. What if someone derails a thread that have no discussion but that derail eventually leads to Holla Forums discussion? I agree that some moderation is necessary in order to not turn this place into anything but Holla Forums, but derail is not bad at all, as long as the off-topic is in sage, and soon.
I judge on a case by case basis. I only put my volunteer hat on when I think shit needs my attention.

I don't have a history of Holla Forums or Holla Forums posting but I've been guilty of being frustrated with certain users as well. I don't doubt if I was given his power I'd abuse it by checking the posting history of any post that might [trigger] me but I'm still salty with this decision.
The one in the OP wasn't derailment nor were other banned posts I saw the past few weeks. I checked them by looking at the the posts the banned post was replying to ala in the OP. They were politicized however still related to the topic of the thread. I remember a couple of posts wiped from other threads as well and I'll say they weren't a string of off topic replies or the like at all either. Granted there were some string of offtopic replies but certainly not most.
He's more than likely done this before I bothered keeping track. Bumplocking perfectly fine threads like the south park one because it didn't meet his standards is bullshit and this likely isn't the first time either.
This man should not hold onto his power.
