The Death of Superman is a good example. They hyped it up and in the end it didn't fucking matter because there's no way they'll get rid of any established character. Nothing matters in capeshit comics. It's all written by committee trash where if anything important happens it will be immediately retconned. They churn out the same basic plots with the same characters over and over again.

I think it is a beautifully drawn comic series by a great artist with a good head on his shoulders and a realistic view of the industry. It has a lot of potential, and I have liked what I have seen so far. We are still in the rising action of the story, so there is a lot of time left to fuck it up, but I have faith in Dave.

Dave is working on it now full time since the plush KS is over but there isnt anything to ship yet. Hes still in the penciling stage so there is only a little bit done, but having seen the man work I myself, he can work very fast.

As far as I understand, he will pull something like he did with V3 and V4 when V5 is done. He will release all the remaining V4 pages when V5 is out.

One page a week for now.

Shes based off of a Greek hero I do believe, so her actions are supposed to allude to his stories.

Sure. What are your thoughts on the series as a whole, and what direction do you think it'll take?

I think that the weakest volume is Vol 1, but that is fair since Dave was an emerging writer and has gotten a lot better. I think that Mace's love-struck attitude toward Lilith is childish, and probably the weakest driving force out of the characters. I think that Namah can be too randumb, but it is justified since she has spent her life in near solitude and is a perpetual case of stir crazy.

That said, I love all the main characters and my opinion of the side characters/secondary cast is pretty high as well. I dont know if its because of all the screen time they get in Prelude or not, but I love seeing things from the perspective of the three tower guards come rebels.

I think that Nabby and Void are a great bad guy duo, one a force of destructive nature and one a schemer with a lot of time to put plans into action. I cant wait to see them more, and I wish that we had gotten to see them fight at the beginning of the third Volume instead of just hearing about it.

The powers are a nice balance against the Nightmare horde, and I think that it will be fun to get to learn alongside the other DKs as the shit hits the fan.

As far as the story goes, I know Dave personally so I have a few tidbits of info that I have been able to piece together about what is in store. The plot for Volume 5 will be about the push back from the Police against the rebel factions, with a side of street gang antics and some introductions to characters in the police force.

Mace and Grunn are going to go on some sort of sea voyage after the main cast splits up, off in search of the island of the spirits that Grunn found before.

From here on I have only speculation. I believe that the group will split up after the first battle with the Nightmare Horde, which will take place after the battles in the street between the Shock troopers and the Troika escalate to all out warfare.

Dave has confirmed that there will be at most one third of the named cast standing by the end of the last volume, and I think that Lilith will be the first main cast member to die. She is the linchpin that holds the group together, so if she dies the group will split.

I think that Mace and Whip are two sections of the same personality, like a familiar. Whip is most likely a key component in Mace's power, which is why he was unable to activate it when Ravat tried to force Mace's powers out.

I have plenty of more speculation since I have been following and talking about this series for years, but I think that this is enough for a single post.

as for the events i did list, it is all in free and released content that has been available to read except maybe the part about grunn and the island, which may have been in vol 4, in which case my bad.

While I also think there's a significance to Mace and Whip's relationship I don't think their both pieces of a whole. Whip is a Dreamkeeper just like the others and his power is tied to his ability to fly. His body shape is possible with how much DK's bodies can vary and the school considers him a special needs student. His speech and Mace's ability to understand him are what I'm curious about though.

I came up with that idea after they said only Mace can understand Whip's speech. And since they have been together since they were infants, we have no idea if they were ever not together.

The centralized discord is dead, but there are a few tiny ones with a high percentage of fans.

Draon ram the Skype and main telegram, and they were fine till he started posting IRL drama about his fag escapades and showing off his dickhole every 5 minutes. After that it devolved into nothing but fur faggotry of the highest order so I bounced.

I don't use the DK discord except Thursday, and that's where most of them congregate. My machine doesn't like discord much, as I seem to get errors every time I try and use it, so I just have up.

Overall, I'm guessing one of the Troika will die first. I'd wager one of the assault team members we saw in volume 4 or one of the guards.

After he rushes in I'd say Igrath because he seems the type to sacrifice himself. but if Dave kept him alive while others die nearby would make for some amazing character development (especially if is one of the girls)

I really dont think any of the main cast are safe.
Lilith is too pure to make it, Bast is a hot headed fighter type with something to prove, Namah is sheltered and randumb, and Mace is most likely a Christ character and at least a special MC who needs to defeat the big bad.

Whip is kinda a toss up. If he is a vital part of Mace's power, I think they would share the same fate. If he is entirely separate, he could die to make Mace lose it, or he could be just fine.

My money is on Igrath and Scinter both biting the spring propelled bullet. Igrath is, as stated, someone that seems like the sacrificial bulwark type and has too many people too close to him. Scinter is wanted and funds the resistance movements off his booze, so taking him down would be a big nail in the coffin for the Troika.

I can see Grunn making it through. He's detached enough.
I can also see him sacrificing himself to save Mace or one of the orphans in in uncharacteristic display of selflessness. Depends on how Dave likes to kill off his characters.

There was a reasonably large backlash on social media when it was all going down, but Dave handled it pretty well, and laughed at the people virtue signaling at him. I think they got a few more readers out of it, and I have noticed more people in the chats recently, but not a crazy amount.
All in all, I think there was a net positive. Dave has seen the bigger picture, though, so it would be interesting to ask him that on Thursday during the chat.

It's hard to tell. There were about 1000+-150 readers at the time of the volume 4 kickstarter, but now there are closer to 1500 readers based on amount of books sold. I wouldn't dedicate that solely to Milo's podcast's ad, but it was one of two or three large publicity stunts in the interem, and the only one that went semi viral.

Personally, I think he should take out an ad on 8ch and e621 (if they even do ads) since almost all the readers have found the series in either one of those two places. If they dont, just make two or three images showing off his skills that he advertises with and uploads to said sites.

What would a Dreamkeepers cartoon be like? Any ideas?

If it was a straight up cartoon to be aimed at children, it would probably be based off prelude since it has the lighter atmosphere but still handles adult topics.

Animating the Wayward astronomer or another side story that doesn't hinge on the core GNS would be another option since they could tell just about any story and have it make sense.

They could do a GNS story but it would have to be an adult centric animation. It would probably be toned down to the point of being similar to a DC animated movie.

I'm for the creation of animation without any kind of parental or content limits. I suspect that a Dreamkeepers cartoon keeping the same quality of content as the GNS or other stories would be a tsunami of creativity in the animation industry. It would have such a great presence that it would initiate the creation of other great works.

There's a great hunger for quality animation with mature themes and content. If it ever takes off other people could realize that you don't have to make an adult animation into a comedy to be successful.

The whole reason we have the comic is because it didn't get picked up. Dave is all for doing shorts and animation, but he is too busy with the GNS to consider the project himself. He has spoken with some of the fans about getting talent to do the brunt of the animation with him overseeing and advising, but the last effort, the motion comic, fell flat. Not to mention he is working on the platform game and the card game as it is.

Not if the TV execs had gotten what they wanted: child's show with monster of the week fight and very little overarching plot.
If they had kept Dave's original ideas and taken his message to heart, we would be having something akin to the GNS animated. I don't know how well the art would transition over (you know how animation is this day and age) and the art is a pretty big selling point for the GNS. I would like to believe there is enough of an audience out there to get a show for adults out there and popular (just look at how popular anime has gotten in the west recently).

Thats how it started out. It was a pitch for TV since Dave is above all an animator. Its what he went to school to do. I personally dont think his animations look nearly as good as his hand drawings, but thats just my opinion.

Asked Dave about the Milo ad and his advertising in general during the chat today. He said that he was not expecting much from the ads, at least not for a while. Viewed it like an investment that wouldnt come to fruition for a few years. The Milo pic going viral was thought about as a possible talking point, but he never expected it to get as much attention as it did. He said that the ads have worked wonders thus far, and he would attribute a large amount of books that have been sold to the publicity he got. He sold something around the 4 figures range in the time following that ad going semi-viral, and he has had a lot of recognition at the recent events he went to. He said the ad was well worth the time and money.

Been reading David's Blog since he announced his most recent venture. Came by this tidbit. I knew there was a reason I loved this man.

His approach does make sense though. Hes pretty much just offering wholesale to the average buyer at this point. I know for a fact that I will be using this service in the future to help with giving away more books in my raffles. It makes giving away the entire DK saga a viable option since i am not spending $80 a pop on them per person.
When they have a more diverse list of titles, I could see the potential to make getting them into stores a viable option for small time entrepreneurs. Its essentially trying to sell your indie project to stores, only you didn't make the content. I doubt a traveling Comic Salesman is possible outside of conventions, but this opens up the potential to make a bit of profit on the investment.

Well, that's no surprise really. She's only been seen in Bast and Vanth's first arc, which was customarily short. On top of that, her design would be murder to draw, specifically her head.

So, what does everyone think of David Lillie the creator of Dreamkeepers? Is he a mega faggot or does he have the most realistic view of the animation and comic book industries that many naïve artists fail to understand?

He may be a little naive at times but he knows his enemy and he is trying his best to make his product successful. His art is good and he is worth supporting in my opinion.

How is he naive?

He expects the best out of people at all times and it shows with the quality of his fan base and their content. Such an approach opens the way for his fans to share some great content, but it also enables sonic tier terribleness. A lot of his platform is built around attaching his product to the content of his fans and he does little to screen it.

How often does he stream?

Live chat every thursday, but his art streams are not really scheduled. He announces them at the beginning of the day on twitter. Hes been doing more and more streams lately though so he may be going for a regular approach to at least the weekly prelude which is usually a Wednesday or Thursday project.

Hopefully this 1st round will filter out most of the shit.

5 rounds since there are 50 contestants and the nearest power of two is 64. 2^5.
Each round will get progressively shorter since there are half as many contestants.

Round one took like a month almost, so round 4 will probably be less than half, round three about a quarter, etc.

All in all, most likely slightly less than two total months to finish. I would guess that he has something planned for the end.

Winner of the tournament gets their OC put into the card game that only a handful of people are going to play. That's it.

Fine question. For all we know, she and Bobby were probably as skeptical about the whole thing as the three guards are/were when they joined. Bobby will probably join to get the money to erase his debts. Since it's fairly obvious that joining the Troika is more or less a blood pact, Vi wouldn't be able to leave to pursue her career.

Who knows how they're going to join and for what reasons. As we can see in the GNS, it does appear they're fighting to prevent the end of the world. Going back to their somewhat comfortable lives will have to wait until all is said and done, which is what they're most likely thinking by that time.

He's carrying Human Paige. The reasons for Human Whip being absent have been Plot Vaulted, as usual. It's pretty obvious at this point that Whip is some kind of an anomaly and not an average dreamkeeper. So, a lack of Human Whip isn't really surprising when you think about it.
