Brazilian Monarchism

Whats the driving force behind the rising support for the a Brazilian imperial restoration?
is it similar to the carlist movement or the showa restoration where the monarch is thought of as a representation of the traditional values and because of that reactionaries rally around the monarch?

Because the empire was the last time the country ran well.

Because the Republic of Brazil has always been a failure so people are desperate for any change. Also, Emperor Pedro II was a solid ruler so people are just transposing that success on a hypothetical future situation.

so basically the Brazilian monarch was quite good at running the country and was much better then the current republic so people want it back?

It depends on what you count as "well".
The country was still largely supported by slavery, startvation was super common, industrialization had a small rize but was still shit and most of the economy was raw comodity exportation like it always was and still is.
What is actually happening is that with the last 14 years of intense anti government propaganda perpetuated by the midia our current youth (especially middleclass) has an intense hatred for all kinds of governement. The consequences of this trend is the highest ammount of ancaps in a single country and some edgy iliterate monarchists rambling how the empire was great (it never was).

Fuck no, the Republic is far better than the Empire ever was, we own nothing to some european minor royal family
Brazil is only gaining influence on the exterior because of the Republic
It only got one of the most powerful military forces in the world because of the Republic
It only actually improved the life of the common people because of the Republic
NO ONE wanted a monarchy, all the separatist popular movements that tried to get the country's independence from Portugal wanted to build a secular republic, no one wanted a catholic european wannabe country

You say that like that was unique to the monarchy and not just the general state of third world nations.

this isn't.

addendum to , brazil was the last western country to abolish slavery.

Reminder that the concept of "third world" is bullshit in modern times
And no, it wasnt, even the other south american countries, with their most recent independence, made bigger economical and social advancements than the brazilian monarchy, and I dont even need to mention the USA
Brazil only got its position and a regional power on the 20th century, and only got actual economic and social advancements after Getulio Vargas era

Its one of the reasons why to this day the social and economical aspect of Brazil is so inconsistent, even after the independence, we still continued to use the colonial model of economy, an agrarian export-focused country until 1930
Actual development of the nation, and the construction of a national identity, is relatively recent in Brazil, and you can point the roots of all the major social problems to that
To be so ignorant to want an european family to have total control of the country again its not just ignorant, its almost treason considering our troubled history of struggle against foreign influence
DEODORO FEZ NADA DE ERRADO

Didn't Pedro II abolish slavery though?

His daughter did, actually.
it pretty much cost him the crown.

his daughter did it under the pressure of the burgeoise and england.
still most slaves were already free becaue it was getting expensive to own slaves and lot's of santions and laws imposed by brittain. The empire fell the following year tho.

Its a meme

Pra ser sincero, puro retardamento

Brazil is such a corrupt and poverty-ridden shithole run by cronies that the idea of a stable monarchic figure putting some order is appealing to a lot of people, specially the middle-class and petty bourgs, who loathe the bourgeoisie as they got their wealth almost entirely due to corruption, uncompetitive practices and graft.

The prensa golpista is some scary shit but seems like the leftist gov't did nothing to fight them off

It's been a shitpile forever, and it is claimed that Pedro II was beloved even when he lost his throne, so I presume people asume it was better than now, as no majority has approved of the govenrment in almost two decades.

Just came back on this thread to enforce that all monarchs should be hanged

The same driving force behind everything bad in Brazil. The extremely low I.Q of the general population.
It's assumed that Pedro II was a good man so the common monkey go and jumps into the conclusion that a monarchy would be good for the country just based on the assumption that Pedro was good alone, completely ignoring all the factors that should have been considered before the conclusion. I've noticed that stupid people love to do this jump into conclusions thing.

Out of curiosity, why almost all of the Brazilian parties are at least nominally leftist?

Do proper right-wing parties in Brazil even exists?

Even Integral Fascism would be better.

by that you mean lack of decent public education and endless exploitation by porky right?
