People who are definitely shills of the ruling classes bent on subverting the left. I nominate Srnicek and Williams, together with all the other 'left accelerationist' memers. Their agenda happens to be indistinguishable from Peter Thiel's agenda, but don't worry! They represent the sane, rational left, based on reason, tech science, and neoliberal PolEcon. Btw don't go seizing the means of production, that's just not "realistic" enough, we gotta be "realistic. You will accept constant surveillance and advertising. You will accept hypercommodification and the ongoing financialization of life. There's nothing wrong with Killbots btw, what are you? An anti science sentimentalist Luddite?
I nominate all the retards who shill for cybernetics and Cockshott.
Hunter Smith
Those guys look like literal stereotypical liberals.
Hunter Harris
Inventing the Future is a great book, but Srnicek's accelerationism does seem to be retarded.
Jaxon Miller
that's because they ARE liberals
Lincoln Sullivan
this.
Brandon Stewart
Why is this metamute article so full of idpol?
James Thomas
Art majors detected. You will be the first in the labor education camps.
Brayden Butler
In what way?
Also, can you point out what your actual issues with Left Acceleration are? Your OP is literally just an autistic strawman. Impolite sage.
Luke Fisher
I'm actually a software engineer just not a retarded fetishistic one
Robert Parker
This thread is weird. Apparently it's both bad to be STEM or to do humanities.
Anthony Walker
Brendan O'Neill
In his own words he started a "Marxist" publication (spiked-online) that is indistinguishable from a lolbert blog. He described environmentalism as an assault on the working class because environmentalists want to limit "freedom" and how much shit the working class can buy.
Gavin Wright
wow, as if there were many people with different opinions on Holla Forums

Don't you know? Descartes was totes rite, you can't know nuffin, therefore the revolution will come if we all just believe in it enough and shit. No need for any of that edJEWcashun shit and shit. Now pass the weed, bro.

Ubi is impossible with capital just barely getting along and breaking down again and again Let them advocate it, capital will still break down
Logan James
What a retard I hope his kids feel free starving in a desert
Colton Perez
I've never read Srnicek, but I stopped reading when my eyes hit the phrase "Gramscian Whitmanese". How the fuck am I supposed to take anything he says from that point on seriously?
Christopher Rogers
Seconding this solely because I hate Cockshotts fat face
Capital is a dynamic system of control, Inseparable by definition from politics. Srnicek and Williams obscure this by presenting a reified model of Capital. Modern capitalism will not necessarily collapse into communism, in fact, it might just evolve into surveillance capitalism. It's not about UBI, (that will arrive too late and will amount to too little, if at all) but about smoothing over the transition to a society of control in the first world while exploitation continues at full blast. The true nature of Srnicek & Williams' program lies not in their proposals, but in their omissions. Humans will still be subject to exploitation and state brutality, the means of production will remain in bourgeoisie hands. Demanding any sort of control over your own life is 'folk politics', a relic of our economically illiterate ape ancestors. seriously, check out this 2009 article by Milton Friedman's ancap spawn, seems S&W get their ideas from CATO
I like this post. This is a very intellectually honest way to have a debate. Did you know that Marx praised colonialism in India and called a political rival a "nigger". Wow, Marxists BTFO. Once again, impolite sage :^)
Cameron Williams
Apart from its description of campaigns against climate change as elitist (which is indeed Trump-tier nonsense), he isn't wrong. Environmentalism is an ideology that often frowns upon material well-being, and that goes back to environmentalism's reactionary roots. No wonder capitalists and fascists alike so easily co-opted political ecology.
Cooper Long
You're right that environmentalism isn't the exclusive realm of the left but that's no reason to completely abandon it and advocate for more consumption. I mean the guys whole argument boils down to "I want more stuff" and any attempt to recognize or alter our wasteful habits is considered an attack on freedom. To what end? And freedom to do what exactly? It's also important to remember that the class that will feel the effects of climate change the most are the proletariat so I find any anti-ecology argument purporting to be a defense of the working class highly dubious.
Levi Morris
The problem I have with many (most?) strains of environmentalism is that they seem to associate any sort of material abundance and comfort with illegitimate wastefulness. This is incompatible with socialism, whose end goal is to guarantee abundance and comfort to all.
Hudson Ramirez
Im market socialist and want to gulag parasitic capitalists. What im more worried about are fascists that are the best of useful idiots of them all.
Jack Richardson
don't trust them comrades
Jace Cooper
Agreed. I think we have to define abundance, though. Ostensibly we live in a world of abundance or at least we produce enough that we could. The problem is access to that abundance not that we aren't producing enough so there really isn't a need to increase production. We need to take a critical look at what we're producing and how so we can move forward in a sustainable manner.
Part me of honestly thinks the whack job anprims and neo-luddites are responding rationally to the looming ecological collapse. The truly irrational response is thinking we can continue down the same road as long as each of us recycle or that by setting up some monetary penalties on carbon output we'll be able to manage the effects of climate change.
Lucas Garcia
have fun with your crummy labor while i live full automation
Adrian Myers
The problem is productivism, not even the soviets could escape it. The world economy is rigged to favor productivism and unsustainable growth. Alienated Consumption is ideologically conditioned, more an expression of enslavement than of freedom. ie. Personal vehicles become status symbols despite the practical and ecological advantages of public transport.
Christopher Peterson
sure
Grayson Smith
I will be absorbed by the hive mind, you're acting like i care about being assimilated as a cyborg
Daniel Ortiz
So whats the argument against full automation?
Brandon Foster
I don't get what all the furor is about here. Either capitalism ends in Communism via making laborers unable to sell their labor power, or it does not. If it does, you can just sit in your armchair and do nothing at all until the economy is mostly automated, or even try to actively speed up this automative process.
Jacob Scott
You might be willing to immolate yourself on the altar of fetishised technics, like the pathetic bugman you are, but many of us aren't happy. one should at least be able to opt out, don't you think?
Brody Phillips
Technics are not neutral, the ruling classes use technics to increase their class power, even at the expense of productivity. Capitalism has been facing a crisis of over production rather than underproduction. we could have achieved post scarcity utopia even with 60s level technology if resources had been properly managed and applied. Communism isn't about developing the forces of production, but about human liberation by any means neccesary. Always assume the ruling class is out to get you.
Ayden Gomez
what do you mean you don't want to be assimilated into the hive mind, don't you get it, its whats best for ALL of us
Jason Kelly
okay, but would you be against the full automation of the means of production?
Isaiah Richardson
Read Marx' critique of the Gotha Problem. Automation won't mean a thing if the ruling classes still control the sources of life. We would all become expendable if that where to happen. imo people like you fetishise tech and production while ignoring the brutal reality of capital. I don't want to serve the forces of production until I'm discarded as an obstacle to accumulation. I want to be able to determine my own life.
Jaxon Collins
are you against full automation in a communist society?
Josiah Peterson
It would be Communist. The only difference is that the proletariat lose the revolution.
Chase Hill
Isn't this the exact point Srniceck and Williams' make?
Jaxon Foster
So you think of 'AI' as a benevolent vaguely Christian God that knows 'what's best for ALL of us'? What basis do you have to believe this?
You don't see the technocratic capitalist class as an enemy but as the one true helmsman of history, destined to bring God Himself to this earth through the Magic of alienated production. Reminds me of the state ideology of Stalinist bureaucracies, though far more crudely theological and religious in nature. Submit! Fetishised Technocapitalist rationality is unquestionable, just like God and the party.
I'm for the abolition of alienated labor. Establismment discourse aroun UBI and automation is obfuscatory and ideologically biased. Sillicon Valley wants to impose a society of control and surveillance on us by making it seem like the only rational option. See their plans to 'disrupt' education for example, under the pretext of preparing kids for 'the future', SV will privatise education and replace it with a program designed to manufacture obedient subjects/ atomised labor units.
Michael Fisher
You're not getting assimilated into shit, fleshnerd.

Preventing coastal cities from getting flooded by the ocean is elitist? WTF am I reading?

Just about anyone who is praised as offering a BRAND NEW WAY OF THINKING that will REVOLUTIONIZE SOCIETY, as it says so on the cover of their very first, rather slim, book.
SJWs, but that goes without saying.
Anyone who uses leftist vocabulary and iconography but aren't against private property.

Cockshott, "economic democracy" advocates, definitely srnicek and williams, all market socialists, pkk supporters, anti-imperialists
