How does working forever and ever sound, goyim??

You thought you could escape your capitalist nightmare through death???????

MUAHAHAHAHHA

Plebs
If youre opposed to this because of how it will be utilized by capitalism, fine.
If youre opposed to it because you enjoy living on hardware with an expiration date, get fucked.

ygw black market cyborg operations result in super-proles who start one man revolutions and we gouge the eyes, rip the dicks off, and crush the limbs of every pork we find

and then leave them to work

...

what a shitty article, lol.

...

YOUR FLESH IS A RELIC, A MERE VESSEL

HAND OVER YOUR FLESH, AND A NEW WORLD AWAITS YOU

WE DEMAND IT

HAHAHAHA this deluded moron actually thinks the technology is for him!

You idiot.. this technology will be only reserved for porky. You think they're going to give all 7 billion of us plebs a chance at immortality?

We will either be killed or be allowed to use it under the condition that we become eternal serf for our technocratic overlords.

I fucking want out of this literal nightmare.

It's surprising how quickly Transhumanism is literally becoming a religion among certain strata of society. Ironically, the 'reasonable' liberals and tech hanger ons who dismiss even mild social democracy as an impossible utopian fantasy are precisely the people most willing to believe benevolent tech corps are just going to make everyone immortal. Muh singularity literally is to late capitalist civilisation what 'full communism' was to the Soviet people.

Transhumanism was always heavily implicitly religious

What if I'm opposed to it because mind uploading is bullshit that means you die.

nothing for sale is ever only for porky

black markets

We just need to ship of theseus this shit

how is this uploading and not merely copying?
they're creating a copy that is not a continuation but an independent new existence resembling you and throw away the original. what the fuck, why'd you do that?

This literally seems like the logical progression for capitalism. Cybernetic Antihumanism is already quite popular among SV higher ups. Cyberpunk dystopia is already here.

This is exactly what is happening.
They would be literally cloning your consciousness, then emulating it, and then subsequently killing the conscious, living 'you'.
It wouldn't be you living anymore, but rather a new you, completely separate from the old you.
This sounds like hell.

Transhumanism is not just like a religion it is literally a new neoliberal religion. It has a God (singularity), it has a savior (technology)it has its prophets (Kurzweil, Musk, etc.) it has its heresies (you can't question whether the change is good or not)

When will you gaytheist retards realize you can't get rid of religion or God you will always have to find something to replace them with.

For anyone who is interested, this seems closely related to the book "The Age of Em."

Autistic site with an extensive review:

soma is a horror game using this topic. not that the scenario of its story is realistic but the fundamental idea is right. uploading your brain for "immortality" is a scam.

...

it's not like there'll be a free or trial version where you just have to deal with some advertisement popping up right in your head selling you virtual goods.

and don't think about going "neo", hacking will get you banned :^)

Fuck off Elon Musk.

You could even argue transhumanism/technolibertarianism is the first truly satanic political theology, even NationalSocialism was anchored in tribalism and the patriarchal family unit.

Good. Let the retarded "hurr durr its not REALLY ME" fags rot.

the obvious choice is neither rotting nor creating a copy, but plugging your brain in

I think this is how it will go.
Seems like VR based on plugging in will come around in 2029, what I forsee happening is hackers discovering how to use vr to create virtual neuron extension of their brain, and as they do so their consciousness and memories will shift more to the virtual to the point that they will feel comfortable enough cropping out their meatbrain.

I'd rather trans humanism happen through genetics. Being a machine freaks me out

Also member that if everyone is a robot, hackers will have complete control of our moment, out actions, our words, and our thoughts. This sounds distopian.

That would be ideal for dealing with reactionaries once we seize control of the state. However I agree that prior to that it would be a complete fucking nightmare.

But doing it through genetics just means you're a biological machine (you are still the result of another human deciding what you should be and how to best purpose you), not even mentioning that we'll probably create a new genetic code to allow more aminoacids since the one we have is redundant.

'Transhumanism' without revolution merely opens up a world of New and Exciting (ie. terrifying) possibilities for capitalism to exploit you and fuck you over. Basically, we are all human lab rats now.

Yeah thank god for that. Otherwise I'd feel the need to kill myself out of fear of being uploaded against my will (eternity is torture no matter how blissful).

Actual immortality of your own mind existing is a justifiable reason to kill yourself still. I can't see that happening though (atleast not for a very long time), just a continuous extension of human life (for the healthy/wealthy, us proles are killing ourselves with our diets usually).

Then you better not go to sleep.
existentialcomics.com/comic/1

They already do. Those hackers are called "marketers", "editors", and "JTRIG" and they have already mastered the art of getting people to act against their own best interest.

Are you suggesting that humans aren't considered fair game for the bourgeois to own and exploit? There's a reason the term "wage slave" is popular.

'You' already 'are' eternally existing. Cogito ergo sum. Even when you're asleep or in a coma, there's still the conscious experience of 'I' slept, I fell into a coma..

Eternity is only a torture through the lens of objective, materialistic worldviews.

Think about it. When do things get boring or torturous for us? When they are 'known', by the mind, as objects. After a new scientific discovery, there's hype, then.. Oh we already know, give us something new.

But, the mind can be trained to view things as pure subject. All this appears within myself. Then there's infinite possibility for discovery. Rather than, everything is known and discovered. Now, my awareness is unfolding into all of this.

Death is always just a change. At least this way, the change can continue to be positive.

I don't exist when I'm dead. Also I'd argue that existance itself is a bad thing.

Basically I'm chronically depressed and waiting for my death and hate this obsessionso many have of achieving immortality.

Mortality is our greatest gift.

Who's to say? Isn't it a fact that matter cannot be created or destroyed? Where do you go when the body is destroyed?

I'd venture you mean that 'being' is a bad thing. Existence is never good or bad, it just is, it's nature is 'is'ness. And, it always is. So existence itself is the totality of good AND bad things.

I'd argue that immorality is already achieved, it's just not realized in the individual. Going back to the idea of the subject.. Who or what is the subject in the sentence, 'It is raining outside right now.'? Am I different from that which is raining? Do you see where im going with this?

Truly I urge you to reconsider this position. My greatest gift was a PlayStation.

Forgot my sage

Death to videodrome

Temporary low consciousness state =/= literally dying with nothing retained except going into a computer.

Basically here's the thing, you can't go to sleep and wake up as two people, but you can upload your brain twice. If you can do that, it means the original person died.

LONG LIVE THE NEW FLESH

A dystopic cyberpunk future seems oddly comfy for some reason

I'm maybe okay for this after socialism is achieved and I can use free software to emulate my brain or whatever. Only as a deathbed thing because I don't want to think about the fact I'm just making a copy of myself. Can self terminate later when my copy decides to.

Either way this is pure science fiction. I doubt we will live long enough to get close to this. Ray Kurzweil and these singularity fags are retards. Pretty sure he is a con of some sort. Any programmer can see how insanely distant such a prospect is. My guess is that I and every other scififag alive will fap to the idea and die without getting a chance at "immortality".

I think a somewhat more desirable and perhaps realistic goal would be a GitS style full body prosthetic. Keep the brain and ditch the body so we just focus on life extension for the brain. They've already intercepted/blocked, read, and fed signals to the brains of lab mice. We have also done some of those things with humans like simple mind-controlled prosthetics, a little bit of the sensation of touch, very simple artificial eyes, and some other stuff.

Personally, I don't want us to just abandon our humanity entirely and going this route the real important part of what we are, the brain and nervous system, can be left intact.

I don't want to become an eternal tech zombie, our lives are dead enough as it is.

Yes, it's very aesthetic.

I can't wait for transhumanist fags to get mindhacked. Shit's gonna be fun.

Can't wait tbh

can't wait to live 300 years longer and discover the secrets of the universe while humanfags die and wither away and get probably reborn as a pig in some other galaxy

frightening

Nah, I'd rather die in a violent revolution.

I'm imagining a posthuman elite while the majority of the population stays relatively poor. Nothing all to ground breaking, but I envision that we might see something like the religious wars that swept Europe. But instead with ideology as the relatively poor become useless.

...

Fuck off, a copy of me isn't me. Find a way to make the brain last forever, or transfer bit-by-bit via maintenance like the ship of thingy.
(also because i'm a pathological liar the idea of being in a machine, or even having brain data accessible in general is fucking nightmare inducing. jesus fucking christ what if they find out? )

good god the implications are appalling.

I told you about capitalist technology, dog.

All the discontinuity of sleep proves is that your self is not caught in your consciousness, but in your biological body. You cannot exist without the bodily you. The bodily you is in fact the only real you.

This "technologization" or "machinization" will simply do as all advances in technology under capitalism always have and societies in which production for exchange is dominant always will: increase how far labor can be disciplined.

When you buy a machine, you do so with the understanding that it can produce at a specific rate for a specific amount of time. We refer to machines, raw materials, etc as constant capital for this reason. There is a fixed, invariable input/output ratio for these things. You can't really adjust this, because you can't force a machine to produce more efficiently. It can perform within its set capabilities for a limited amount of time. This is why machines can only pass on their own value to commodities.

Variable capital, on the other hand, is, well, variable. Variable capital is wage-labor, and unlike "labor" of a machine, it can be exploited. Firstly, when you purchase a worker's labor power, you don't necessarily know exactly how productive or efficient they will be. As a capitalist, you of course want to increase your workers' efficiency as much as possible to reap a bigger profit. You want to be able to boost productivity at the lowest possible cost. And what is the cost of wage-labor? Wages. This is your input, and in order to make a profit, you need it to be smaller than the output (i.e. the results of the labor). If the ratio were 1:1, there would be no profit. To make a profit, you need to pay the workers less and make the work more. That's why we have surplus labor, or unpaid labor. Workers are paid less than the value of what they produce. For example, if I work in a factory, I may work for eight hours and receive payment for what I produced in five hours.

Of course, machines and new techniques can increase a worker's rate of output. That's why capitalists are constantly searching for ways to cut wages while also striving to make production more efficient through the adoption of new productive mechanisms. This is where capitalism runs into problems, however. You can only cut wages so much, right? Eventually, that stops being a viable method of augmenting profits. Instead, capitalists become increasingly reliant on mechanization and automation to raise their profits. But in doing so, they continously expel more and more human labor from the productive process, undermining the basic social relationship (wage-labor) that forms the basis of a capitalist society. As we can see then, one of the primary contradictions of capital lies in value itself.

I take back every mean thing I ever said about anprims

They were fucking right

I never asked for this

This is honestlyone of those widely expected sci-fi concepts that I hope never comes to pass.

I'll discuss it with you, user.

You'll just be a replaceable drone with no agency of its own, wholly enslaved by whatever controls the tech.

AI written by AI written by super AI that was created by contemptible autistic sociopaths

We're living in a dystopian cyberpunk present, my friend.

animatrix is sick though, I may do a Marxist analysis on it at some point if I go beyond games

kek, transferring your consciousness is impossible, at best you can create an immortal copy of the self. but a copy is not the original, the original still dies. This is just an elaborate form of suicide re-branded as immortality.

Nigga who cares

It's about the fact that you, the person sitting at the computer now, will be literally dead and your consciousness will never inhabit anything again, it will just be a clone of you that is not you

it can usher in paradise and abundance if its under socialism thou,
perhaps solve some of its problems

What he said. Not only that, but it's possible these ghost people in the machine will use the (false!) promise of immortality to induce the remaining biohumans to live out their lives maintaining, expanding and improving the server farms. Literally enslaving the living in service of the dead.

consciousness transfer is an open question. even if the copy method doesn't work there might be some other way. We don't know enough about consciousness to rule it out. plus there are biological methods of life extension. also at this level of technological progress i doubt they would need a bunch of biohumans fixing server farms when they could do it themselves
