They aren't contradictory. There are very specific reasons why those views are commonly held, although most don't understand why they think the way they do.

First off, for women, the ideal goal is a male provider. After that we've got "love"/companionship, and a distant third is cummies. So the priorities go: Provider >> Companionship >>>> Cummies. What do female sex toys do? They give you great cummies. The need for a provider and companion are still there, thus driving women to fuel the economy by purchasing cosmetics, jewelry and clothing to artificially increase their sexual market value so that they can attract the highest quality male.
