Hey user, if you ever made a game, how would you make people know that it exists? For the sake of argument, imagine that is a free game.

Depends on the game, but the easiest way is have a character that is easy for tumblr artists to draw and get them to, and it'll spread from there. Also memes.

I would dmca Jim Sterling.

Shill it to people I'm pandering to.

Charge $5 for it then upload it to the pirate bay with a heartfelt story about how your a poor indie dev but that if people want to pirate your game that's OK and that's why you uploaded it yourself etc. etc.

This.
If it's unapologetic, gory and with tits I'd shill it here.
If it's some numale sjw agenda I'd shill on social media and reddit.

Contact streamers and youtubers.

Try cuckchan too, I hear they enjoy those sorts of games nowadays.

I'd go on Holla Forums and shill it harder than JIDF claiming they have a right to Palestine.

This is the plan. I'll become an interesting person and cultivate general game talent and unique opinions so that I can start a YouTube channel, and as it grows, I'll begin to branch outward to Facebook and Twitter. Eventually, I'm respected as an intelligent mind in the gaming community, so when I offer a game for people to play for free, they love me even more and the game gets tons of downloads. I then open a Patreon for donations, and make tons of money off of the double popularity from a YouTube channel and an excellent free game. Once I make enough money, I make another game with a huge budget, still made by me alone, and charge $40 for it. I become rich and retire shortly thereafter, still making videos here and there but using my lofty status from success as an excuse to be "busy" and not talk to people. My fanbase will begin to dislike me because of this, and eventually, I'll reach a peak of popularity. Knowing that it's the end of my growth in success, I'll go off the grid and live alone somewhere, growing crops and tending to animals, such that I can live an entirely self-sufficient existence free from any outside influence. After about a decade, I'll be inspired by a dream and begin working madly in my free time to create another game. I'm barely able to finish it before I die, and my family finds it when they come to visit me after not hearing from me for a few months. They publish the game online for $10 and it's one of the greatest video games ever made, and sells like hot cakes. The money made supports my family such that they may live comfortably, and my younger brother becomes a YouTube content creator for Let's Play videos, starting with the games I made and branching out from there. In general, my final work is regarded as one of the greatest games ever made and helps in codifying video games as an art form, but a great deal of contrarian imageboard frequenters talk badly of my works, saying how I've only caused more problems for the industry. Eventually, since at that point trends will emerge and die faster than they do now, I'll be forgotten and my game will simply be another best-seller on the Steam charts.

Either that, or I'll email copies of my free game to everyone I know and hope they enjoy it and spread it further. And maybe I'll shill some on Holla Forums until I get banned.

I would, but I aint making sjw games anytime soon.

What would you guys think would happen if you supposedly posted you gory titties game in reddit/cuckchan/social media? I know what happens when people post gay shit around here.

That's actually a well made bait filename. I got slightly upset.

I'd make a neat reference with the characters, make sure to get in touch with the younger audience you know.

Band and deletion.
As simple as that.

Just make a good game, put it on steam and shill it on here. You could shill on youtube like yandere dev and just keep talking about it but I would just make a good game honestly. If it's good it will spread much easier and fast. If it's shit well..

That's how I would market my game. Bait in all the casualfags, normalfags, and whatever else and then blackpill the shit out of them. The blackpilling would then get a bunch of youtubers to cover it. If the ARG was done right it'd go down in history as one of the best an MMO has done, earning the game infamy.

That's kinda nasty for something so uncertain. Steam by itself will weirdly generate some free hundreds of downloads but beyond that will be based on your kill of self-promoting, that being said you wouldn't need steam in the first place.

Hell, if your game is not huge you could easily publish in Newgrounds or some other Flash/HTML5 portal for free and get way more free "views" than on steam.

The only youtube video people would remember would be one of matpattfag probably

Fixed

Sounds like Breath of Fire 4: The MMO.

Goddamnit user, now I'm really curious about this game. Tried to play once, but got stuck in like the first shop or something.

It's a standard JRPG gameplay-wise.
What makes it special are god-tier art style, animations and grimdark story.
If you play games for gameplay and don't like jrpgs in general, you won't enjoy it.

Why isnt there a game based on your pic? I know there are a few more of those and they seem comfy as fuck for a game. Also I wouldnt let game journalists play the game cause lol fuck em.

I mean it's not grimmest of dark, as Xenogears or Baroque, but those games are outright and obviously not happy go lucky.
BOF4 on the other hand appears like kid-friendly anime adventure into fantasy world of playful fairies and friendly dragons.
And for the first couple of chapters it is.

Spam porn from the game ironically because that somehow drives away fellow marketers just like that evolve faggot wanted you mouthbreathing idiots to believe was he wrong?.

I wouldn't, I made the game for myself..

Before spoiler I thought of stillborn.
You'd think that porn doesn't sell games, but then there is overwatch.
I dunno, maybe if it's monster porn, then you can't expect huge audience.

I think there was a 2d qts based shooter that was shilled here a few months ago, forgot the name tho, sorry.

Games take lots of work and people tend to focus on cathering whatever is the current fad (overwatch clones) or focus on making their own original games which will be based on their own imagination and expectations, if both of those correspond to concepts like that pic, It'll be more a coincidence than an intention. Unless someone thought the same thing as you and decided to sacrifice maybe whole years of his own life to achieve this very end, try imagining how likely that would be.

Easy, viral marketing. on Twitter and other social media platforms you can easily get attention from enginefags by hastagging 'MadeWithUnity' or "MadeWithUnreal' and other hastags like "IndieDev" and . Then from there people who aren't enginefags who follow the enginefags might like your stuff then they'll share it around. From their it just grows naturally until you have a small audience who'll word of mouth your game upon release.

Some attention/publicity even if negative, is better than none.

>b-but "no such thing as bad publicity" is a myth and that's actually bad for companies (archive.is/HL74T)
We're talking about games so garbage that only the company's own employees play them. Getting Mark to swipe his father's credit card when he sees something shiny just to buy it and play it for 30 minutes without (refunding it) is a sale and DEFINITELY someone getting a promotion to head of the marketing department.

>In a new study from Stanford Graduate School of Business, researchers say in some cases negative publicity can increase sales when a product or company is relatively unknown, simply because it stimulates product awareness.
