you are meant to wander the ocean in search of prey and beeline towards the scent of blood You start with smaller prey, but as your skills and hunger increase, you engage in combat with increasingly bigger prey such as elder sea turtles, sea lions, orcas. Your objective is to eat the largest thing or die trying. Imagine a multi-day battle biting off chunks of a blue whale while avoiding its ever increased flailings and their shockwaves from tearing you in half in a single hit. PVP would involve player sharks facing off one by one. Depending on the depth the encounter happens in, lightning and camouflage can become actual strategies.

Closest I can get is playing with Khergits in Mount and blade, and that is only for fighting.
I know there's been a few games like this, but I just want more games that are completely underground. I don't even care what you do down there, just have the whole game in deep dark caverns and caves and shit.

Dark fantasy in a setting full of animals, the shit that happens in nature is fucked up and it would be interesting if those risks were portrayed in gaming. Lifeweb itched that way for me, but it's not enough.
Everything else involving animals is either designed to be too cutesy or erotic, I want to see folks try something different.
Wuxia or eastern fantasy setting strategy game or an action rpg where you go on a long quest where you meet gods, mythical beasts, and have a comfy crafting and support system. tried jade empire, and though there was a few interesting concepts, it felt under ultilized.
This'd be pretty damn neat especially if it had a massive map that's mostly steppe&tundra and emphasis on the mounted combat&archery.
Even better if it were focused on similar gameplay than MB is as in you'd be the chieftain of your small tribe and were engaged in a steppe warfare against other tribes all with the ultimate goal of uniting them all and becoming the Khan. Basically Gengis Khan the game, perhaps some revenge-subplot shit in the mix for the sake of a main quest if needed to.
And comfy campfires with throat singing and morin khuur playing and drinking airag to celebrate beating a rival tribe. It'd need desert and mountains along with steppe and tundra to be a true steppe nomad experience as well. Someone fund this.

Tactics Ogre: LUCT solves this by having a morally ambiguous story with a plot tree. Every hero is bad, but you have to pick the least worse side or abandon all three.

I'm actually planning something similar to this to be the setting of the game I'm working on. Something in Ghibli's Arrietty struck a chord with me even if the plot was pretty poor. It's a bit different than just "tiny people in the real world" though, as I'm mixing in fantasy elements as well. I've designed some unique species such as the Ursa- bears that walk upright and live in Russian Aboriginese inspired communities/culture. Then the Corvids (ravens with usable hands on their wings) that live in tree-canopy towns, and a few others I haven't really hammered out yet like a pseudo-mermaid and a forest-sprite.
Of course I don't even have a 100% feature compete character controller so don't hold your breath.

Am I the only one who thinks playing as a doctor in a field hospital during the Civil War would be wicked? Think Amateur Surgeon meets Red Orchestra. You have to be a bit creative with fixing up some of the soldiers, quite similar to how injuries were handled back then. Depending on how serious you want the game to be, you can really have fun with the prosthesis and give 'em a bunch of wacky shit.
You would get discharged if you lose too many patients.
So like an advanced version of that edgy surgery flash game but without the supernatural shit?

Thanks. I just always see the same "human elf dwarf orc" fantasy setting and it bothers me how little creativity there is. So I tried thinking of the most "unused" ideas out there. I want to see how much I can push away from the stereotypes of fantasy without becoming unrecognizable to a viewer.
Nah, it's not supposed to be Earth- just its own universe with its own rules and physics. I've got some really autistic ideas about the physics, where the Sun is actually an "energy spout" into the space-time bubble holding the planet; the point where energy flows into the world space. And conversely inside the core of the planet is an "energy funnel" where energy drains back out.
If you're going to compare it to a flash game, compare it to Amateur Surgeon.
I can't think of anything else to which he would've been comparing it.

I played around with a setting in my mind where ayylmaos or something visited an overpopulated earth and give people shrinking technology/force most people to shrink down only leaving a handful of full sized humans as protectors. The story would take place long after the actual happening, with humanity being accustomed to their tiny lives living in small and larger towns within cities and towns. The main quest of the hero would be to find the lost magical giants that helped the small people long ago, because of some crisis or something. It would be a nice post-apocalyptic setting of humanity just vanishing and nature retaking the cities. I just really like the idea that an average sized room could hold an enormous town and that a small distance of a kilometer would be an epic journey into the unknown. I think that the ending could be that the MC eventually finds giant skeletons and a device that can turn him normal(giant) sized, but it only has one use. So he'd have to choose between leaving his whole life behind to become one of the giants and helping his people, or choosing to stay that size and possibly dooming his people. Basically the age old self sacrifice or selfishness question.

with beat em up gameplay that is not press X to win but like God Hand and an open world like BotW.
There's this f2p space ship sim that does that, can't remember the name. One branch of humans decided that technology implants was the way to go and they pretty much became cyborgs, the other branch went with genetic enginering. They end up going to war and you get to pick which side you start on.

You can play as various Mongol successor/splinter Hordes in Europa Universalis 4 but you'll find yourself handicapped with technology penalties and unstable form of government. You do get really powerful early game units and always have Casus Belli against your neighbors.
Crusader Kings has the Mongols Invading Europe during its time frame but I haven't played it enough to say anything about it.
Also both games are published by paradox and have ridiculously bloated with more-or-less mandatory DLC.

Armada is pretty much like that. Aliens destroyed Earth, mankind escaped to space and diverged into six sub-species, and eons later they join forces to fight back.
This may be close to what you seek.
Pretty much anything that's got a decent budget to it with a specific mesoamerican setting.
We have plenty of vidya with a specific generic maya temple level or strategy games with Aztecs, Maya, etc as playable civs, but there's barely any games that are explictly themed around the region or the culture in the same way we have games based specifically on western european, japanese, greco-roman, etc culture.

It'd work for almost any genre. City building games would work great, especially for the Aztecs, since they had hugeass ones built on lakes with artifical islands and stone roads, aquaducts, dams, and canals going between everything across them. Strategy would work good for the same reasons. You could do horror with all of their human sacrifice and insane mythological bullshit, or a third person action game in the vein of God of War would be cool.
What I think would work best though would be a Dark Souls style game, since pretty much any mesoamerican mythology, from Aztec to Maya to Purepechan, would go excellently with that sort of dark-fantasy-horror atmosphere.
Expeditions Conquistador is what that user was thinking of. It's a great game, but as a mesoameriaboo I wish more focus was actually put on the native environmental elements that I go into in the above.
This would also be cool but I don't think it would be quite as cool. Their architecture is a lot less interesting, and I don't think the mountain range//tundra/desert stuff they have is as neat as the tropics/deserts/jungles mesoamerica has.

Oddly, there was only one game that started to do this that I ever came across and it suffered the developmental hell partly because of it.

Any decent ship would have enough materials between the layers for stopping radiation that an explosion shouldn't be an issue.
hey user, I downloaded it and I've been playing it for a while. the game IS pretty fun and does indeed come close to the description, however it lacks something, I don't know if it's the pacing or the kinda clunky controls but it doesn't quite scratch the itch. thanks for the heads up though I'll probably finish it

Played Pikmin 2 and 3, wouldn't say that was what I was thinking of. Taming the frontier meaning as make it your own, take back the wild. If your already got combat vehicles, taming alien mounts might not be worth it.
