Back in the day, Galileo saying the Earth goes round the Sun was blasphemous to the church, because they thought "this means man isn't the center of creation." They took something that was factually correct and made their own interpretations about the implications, pushed this interpretations on the guy presenting the facts, and got all angry and pissy about it.

Now look at the left: tell them that climate change is true because it's supported by so much science and they overwhelmingly agree with you, believing themselves to be paragons of rational, logical thought. Then tell them that science has found mountains of evidence to show that niggers are, as a race, stupid and violent regardless of where they exist on the planet, and all of a sudden their brains shut down and they challenge the facts. Suddenly they're not so willing to simply take on faith something someone said simply because they claimed science shows it.
