I was highly dubitative at first because I was expecting SF souls, but once you understand how different the progression system is, it clicked. Chiefly you have to understand that defeating enemies isn't enough, you have to target the body parts you want to get schematics upgrade materials, weapons, etc. Limb harvest is just satisfying. Level design wise it's good, lots of shortcuts and hidden corners. Only problem is that it's small in scope, so not really deserving of a full price purchase, but keep an eye out for sales.

Yes, I've played Reach. Halo suits in general underutilize the power armor mechanic even with Reach's armor ability system. The only thing they do that could be described as unique to power armor is righting vehicles that got flipped over somehow. They also can't take nearly as much damage as the time frame they exist in would suggest, because Halo's human weapons are mostly carbon copies of real-life weapons.

Honestly, the greatest contribution Halo Reach made to the series was its armor. It looked cool while looking practical. In my opinion previous armor designs looked too clean and didn't appear to have any real carrying capacity, these designs look like they were made for slogging through dirt and mud while carrying a bazillion pounds of equipment (as they should).

And then Halo 4 promptly shat that up and retconned everything to look like its shit armor style. Bungie bby please buy back Halo or some shit this has to end

The elite armor is actually power armor, but the brute armor isn't, it's just physical protection and energy shielding/sometimes cloaking, it doens't enhance their strength or speed. But when you are a 9 ft tall cross between a gorilla and a rhino you don't really need enhancements
